FALL SEASONAL UPDATE!!!

The leaves are dying and I’ve never felt more alive. All Hail Fall, the season of cool breezes and excuses to wear jackets.

It’s been a busy summer at OSP, and we’re excited for a rather more chill tail end of the year. We’d like to welcome the new patrons who’ve joined the party since we started doing the After After Show Show of the OSPodcast. This is for-real so much fun for us to make, so we’re thrilled to see so many of you enjoying it too.

We launched our new whitelabel merch shop OverlySarcastic.shop – use code:  OSPATRONS<3  for 15% off (good forever, infinite uses), and get access to the special Patreon-exclusive Vault of additional goodies with the password:  supersecretpatronzone

We also launched our Artemis and Apollo plushies, which was a very fun step into the world of huggable 3D merch. We’ll have those products back in stock for our Black Friday/Holiday sale, then once they sell out they’re gone forever (or until we decide to make them again but who knows).

Speaking of, we’ve got our Black Friday sale starting November 24th. All of our previous enamel pins will be back in stock (all the Olympians, the Babylonian Bros, our Norse Trio, and the constellations), and to celebrate our favorite celestial twins, we’ll have a special edition of Artemis and Apollo with Artemis lined in silver and Apollo lined in gold. We’re currently testing out glow in the dark colors for their sun and moon, but we want to make sure the pins look good in natural light as well as glowy darkness, so we’ll run some tests and go with whatever looks best.

We’ll also be bundling some pins together, with new discounts – so Thor, Odin, and Loki will go in a triple-pack for $26 instead of the usual $30 combined. We’re doing the same with the disaster-olympians Ares Hermes and Dionysus, and we’re bundling the constellations Ursa Major and Taurus together for $17. This simplifies the store page and helps us keep the prices low for all of you.

As for channel-side things, we’ve got a handful of fun videos coming up. Tomorrow is the big Byzantines Re-summarized (woot), then we’ve got Trope Talks on Super School and Personifying Death, the folktale of The Boy Who Found Fear, a Realism Review of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Detail Diatribe on Spider-Man’s Symbiote Suit in anticipation of the new Spider-Man 2 game. Then later on, we’ll have the literally-feature-lengthComplete History of Rome” from Aeneas all the way to the fall of Constantinople, and, of course, we’ll close the year out with the next installment in The Journey To The West. Having read the script for this one, it’s shaping up to be one of my personal favorites. It’s a big Fall season for videos on the channel, that’s for dang sure.

Additionally, spooky season will feature a Halloween Bonus Stream of the OSP gang trekking across the Depths in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (with chat once again able to sabotage Red with donations). Then we’ll have a bonus episode of the Overly Sarcastic Podcast featuring Jacques Ze Whipper and ya boi Blue loudly being history nerds for an hour (we love to see it).

At time of posting, I’ll be at VidCon Baltimore this coming weekend. Most relevant, I’ll be giving a free-to-the-public talk on Historical Storytelling at the Enoch Pratt Central Library, 400 Cathedral Street in Baltimore, in the Wheeler Auditorium, this Saturday the 30th at 3pm EST. If you’re in the Baltimore/Washington area, come listen to the talk and say hi!

The OSP Gang will also be at Pax Unplugged in Philadelphia December 1-3. We don’t have any events or panels at the con, but we’ll be there along with the rest of the Rolling with Difficulty crew, so if you see us, say hi!

Finally, as we begin looking toward the next year, we’re planning out our winter season of videos (and non-videos). Taking a bit of a break in January was a great decision for us this past year, so we’ll be doing it again this time. The question is what would you like to see from us instead of the usual fare? We’re currently thinking of doing some livestreams the first couple Fridays, and then then hitting some Detail Diatribes in the back half of the month.

And with that, we’ve got one final question to turn over to you: Red’s beginning research on the next batch of Trope Talks. What tropes do you want to see?

Thank you all as always for your considerate and generous support of our work. It really means a lot to us.

I have loads more Trope Talk suggestions besides Heroic Sacrifices [though that's still the one I want most]: Found Families, Utopias That Are Genuine Utopias, Badass and Child Duo, Lost Lands/Secret Continents, A Form You Are Comfortable With/You Cannot Grasp The True Form, Blue and Orange Morality, Eldritch Abominations, Those Two Guys, Big Damn Heroes, Cloudcuckoolander, Noodle Incidents.

I'd like to see a video on High vs Low Fantasy for Trope Talks. Since Halloween is coming around the bend, I'd also some Trope Talks on Dark is Evil/Dark is Not Evil and on necromancy/necromancers. Either one whenever you can get to it would be fine by me.
