Odyssey Developer's Journal #6 - end of year address

So it's that time again, another year older and deeper ... into Odyssey. But hey that's a good thing! Since the last developer's journal I have been absolutely ON FIRE with main quest implementation and development. I have managed to get half way through the 10 major quest arc sections of the Act 1 main quest in just 6 weeks! Strike while the iron is hot as they say.

I've managed to trudge my way waist deep into elaborate quests with complicated handlers and new proprietary mechanics not seen in your typical game of Skyrim, but not so different that they are non-intuitive enough to not figure out easily enough. I've managed to chart our course to Balfiera; a daunting mechanical task that finally has come to realization. I've built out a complicated scenario with dynamic random elements and have forced by way through a quest arc that I previously was dreading working on and all with continued drive to keep going.

Though I am trying to pace myself as I wouldn't want to burn out on it, so I shift gears a bit from time to time and fiddle with some more incidental loose ends as a break and work to coach the new implementation team as they work through building in their first quests for the project and with great success so far.

Life always has its challenges and often gets in the way of what we'd really like to be working on, but I feel grateful that I'm in a position where I can devote as much time as I have drive for towards this amazing project. All the while I continue to strive to support the team and keep a relaxed approach so when others are not so available as they once were for a time, they know it's not a big deal and can hop back in whenever their availability once again allows.

In addition to the team that helps make this project into a reality, I also have to thank all of the supporters of the icecreamassassin modding community and particularly the patrons here and any who have given donations. Your strong financial support has allowed me to focus more time and continue to drive this project, even through the slow-downs, and also allows for investments into software and better hardware to make the job go more smoothly. It allows me to spend my time away from our online store business on something I love rather than spending most of it working a job for some faceless profiteering company. So a thousand times thank you and I look forward to reaching the final stretch over this next year and hope to continue to excite and inspire folks to experience all that Legacy/Odyssey has to offer.

So happy new year and I look forward to an even better more productive one time come!
