What "Facebook Jail" Looks Like

Hey everyone, thank you again for supporting The Hard Times/Hard Drive. The response has been overwhelming and we are so grateful. Anyway, you might have heard publishers or influencers mention the term "Facebook Jail" before. It's Facebook effectively shadow-banning you for content they disagree with for one reason or another. If you look at that chart above you will see some pretty good numbers in early 2020. Covid was just becoming a thing, there were lots of police protests and people seemed to be online.

Things cooled down for a bit and we maintained a baseline until we published this article:

Chauvin Upset He Isn’t Able to Properly Celebrate Hitler’s Birthday Thanks to Guilty Verdict

Read the article here: https://thehardtimes.net/culture/chauvin-upset-he-isnt-able-to-properly-celebrate-hitlers-birthday-thanks-to-guilty-verdict/

After this, our reach was throttled, and you can see on that chart it never really came back. This is despite the fact engagement was up on other platforms. And Facebook threatened to delete our page multiple times.

Anyway, your support means we are free to say whatever we want about the human trash bag Derek Chauvin without having to worry about losing everything. So thank you, we can't wait to keep bringing you all new content and ideas.

We thought so, but instead they threatened to delete our account.

Ok apparently no one at Meta has a sense of humor, because that headline is pure goddamn gold

Holy shit! That puts it in perspective. There's times where it clicks and I'm like oh that's why I haven't been seeing my favorite pages in my feed.
