“Did Bella tell you when she was going to leave her room?”Rosalie asked Jane. The pair and the Denali sisters were in the training room where Jane was teaching them how to fight. At the moment she was running through moves with Kate who had been all too happy to fight against Jane promising to go easy on the small vampire. That confidence had quickly faded after Jane had Kate pinned to the floor with a hand around her throat less than a minute after they started. From then on Kate had been more than happy to listen to what Jane had to teach them. Rosalie had been very impressed because she had thought that Jane would have relied on her gift and wasn’t that great of a hand to hand fighter. It made Rosalie excited to learn from her. The only thing that would make the experience better was if Bella was teaching them instead.

“All she said was that she would go along with any day that we picked for the tournament.”Jane told her.

“Do you think she will come out of her isolation soon?”Tanya had initially been wary of training with Jane and was only really there to save Kate incase her sister offended someone but as the session went on she was happy she had decided to come. Jane was a patient teacher and Tanya had learned a great deal of technique from her.

“The fact that she replied and agreed to us making the date for the tournament leads me to believe that she will show herself in maybe a day or two.”Jane wasn’t worried. Bella would show up when she was ready.

“And there is nothing we can do to help her?”Rosalie didn’t want to wait another day let alone two to see her mate.

“The best thing for us to do is be patient and when she does resurface not overwhelm her when we see her.”Jane said.

“Will she be willing to talk to us?”Rosalie wanted a chance to see for herself that Bella was alright.

“In situations like these she usually talks to Queen Didyme first.”Jane wasn’t offended that Bella didn’t turn to her for comfort after she had an episode. It was natural for child to seek out their mother for comfort and reassurance.

“I guess we just have to wait until she is ready to see us.”Rosalie wasn’t pleased that Bella wouldn’t search out her mates first but she would be patient like Jane said. The last thing Rosalie wanted was for Bella to get upset again and go back to her room after just leaving.

“Alright Rosalie come here and with Kate’s help I’ll teach you how to defend yourself if you ever get trapped by someone wrapping their arms around your neck from behind.”Jane would have been involved but with her height it wouldn’t work out properly.

“Alright.”Rosalie walked up to Kate who wrapped her arms around Rosalie’s neck and pulled her close to her body. Rosalie’s first instinct was to panic. Taking a second to remind herself that she was safe and this was a way to help her defend herself she relaxed into Kate’s hold.

“Now the first thing you are going to try is to pull their arms off of you. It probably won’t work but it’s the best way to start.”Jane told her.

Rosalie pulled at Kate’s arms but they didn’t budge.”I can’t even move them.”

“That’s to be expected. That technique usually only works if the vampire is not as strong as you are or if they don’t have a good hold on you.”Jane said.”Now the next thing you should do is grab one of their fingers and rip it off.”

“Please don’t do that.”Kate didn’t want her finger to be ripped off.

“Will ripping a finger off really be that affective?”Irina asked.

Jane nodded.”Not only does it hurt like hell it will likely cause the vampire to lose their concentration and give you the opportunity to break the hold.”

“How exactly do your rip a finger off?”Rosalie didn’t know the proper way to rip any part of a vampire off. She knew it could be done as she had seen it happen she just didn’t have anyone teach her how to do it.

“The best way to rip off not only a finger but any of part of a vampire is to get some type of leverage and twist. You can off course just try to pull but by twisting it breaks the hard flesh causing it to splinter. When trying to get leverage the best way is to use your opponent’s body. Be it by putting your foot on their torso to take an arm or a leg or straddling them to take their head.”Jane explained.

“So make sure you twist when you pull on it.”Rosalie would easily be able to remember that.

“Exactly. Now if the vampire that has a hold on you doesn’t let go when you take their finger grab a hold of their arms swing your leg forward and the kick back as hard as you can to hit their knee cap.”Jane told her.

“What does that do?”Tanya had never seen a vampire do that in a fight.

“If you get enough momentum and you hit the knee cap just right you can snap the bottom of their leg off from the rest of their body.”Jane had used the technique often when she first learned how to fight without her gift.

“Seriously?”Irina didn’t know that was possible.

Jane pulled up her robe and pointed to to a place on the bottom of her kneecap.”If you hit them right here and use even a fraction of your strength it will snap right off.”

“Wicked.”Kate was definitely going to try that the next time she was in a fight. Even if she wasn’t being held from behind.

“What if that doesn’t work either?”Rosalie wasn’t sure she was strong enough to snap a leg in half.

“It will be hard with the way they are holding you but if all else fails go their eyes.”Jane told her.

“How can she get to my eyes if I’m holding her like this?”Kate asked.

Jane walked up to the pair.”May I touch you?”

“Sure.”Rosalie appreciated that Jane asked and didn’t just put her hands on her. Rosalie figured it was a habit after dealing with Bella for so long.

“Ok so since she has her arms around you your instincts are telling you to not take take your hands off her arms to prevent her from taking your head off. You need to fight them off to use both your hands to get to her eyes. The best way to do that is use one hand to distract her and the other to strike.”Jane then used Rosalie’s arms to demonstrate how to get access to Kate’s eyes.

“I can see why that’s the last option.”Rosalie wouldn’t be able to easily maneuver her arms to get to Kate’s face if she moved her head too much.

“That’s not the last option. There is one that can only be used with men and should be used first before you do anything.”Seeing their confused expressions Jane explained.”Go right for the crouch. Even though male vampire’s bodies are made of stone if you kick or punch them in their manhood they will react the same as if their body was human. Not only does it hurt but it you hit them just right it will snap off.”

Irina laughed.”I didn’t even think of that.”

“I just assumed that they would be tougher than a human.”Rosalie really didn’t have any experience with male vampires or their bodies but assumed that they would be made of the same toughness as the rest of their bodies.

“A man is a man no matter what their body is made of. Even when we dealt with the children of the moon in their werewolf forms. Hitting them in the crouch downed them every time.”Jane had used it to her advantage many times when dealing with the children of the moon when going in for the kill.

“That’s more proof of a woman’s superiority.”Tanya said.

“We are better than men aren’t we.”Kate agreed.

“Ok so now that you taught me how to do all that what’s next?”Rosalie wanted to learn more from Jane. What she was already taught was very valuable and she knew that the more time spent with the small vampire would just help her to become a formable member of the Volturi. Rosalie was hoping if she could prove herself they would let her go on missions with Bella.

“The next scenario I’m going to show you is how to get out of being trapped underneath a vampire straddling you.”Noticing Rosalie’s hesitation Jane quickly added.”If you aren’t comfortable being in such a vulnerable position then Tanya or Irina can take the place of the victim.”

Rosalie thought about how she would feel if she was trapped under Kate. She didn’t like the idea but she once again reminded herself that she was learning to protect herself. It would worth the discomfort to learn how to get out of the position if she found herself in it.”I can do it.”

“Good now why don’t you get into position. Kate loosely put your hands around her neck.”Jane made sure to watch Rosalie’s reaction in case she needed to put a stop to it.

“I got this.”Kate was excited to learn how to defend against this position. She had found herself in it before and had always relied on her gift to get herself out of it. It would be good to know how to do it without her gift if she ever faced someone like Bella who could shield themselves from it.

“Alight Rosalie I’m going to touch your arms and show you how to break the hold. Is that ok?”Jane waited until Rosalie nodded to gently grabbed both Rosalie’s arms and put the against Kate’s elbows.”Now you see how I guided them to Kate’s elbows. The reason I did this is because if someone is trying to take your head in this position it is guaranteed they will have both their arms completely straight with their elbows locked in place. If you slam your arms against them hard enough it will cause them to buckle not only stopping them from taking your head but bringing their face close to you giving you an opportunity to take out their eyes.”

Rosalie relaxed her arms and allowed Jane to push the out against Kate’s elbows harder this time causing Kate to lean forward.”I see what you mean. I would think that going for their eyes right away would be the smart thing to do but with their arms straight out like that they could get away from my hands. By getting them closer to me it gives me a better chance at doing some damage.”

“Exactly.”Jane was proud of Rosalie for catching on so quickly.

“What happens if she can’t get to their eyes though?”Tanya asked.

“I would trade places with Rosalie and show you but because of my size I have an advantage over Kate. So I’ll just have to show you the move without anyone on top of me.”Jane said.

“Why would you being smaller be an advantage?”Irina would figure it was the exact opposite.

“With my size I have an easier time breaking the hold because there is less of my body for them to be able to hold on to. Plus my proportions are completely different so instead of being able to straddle my chest to get hold of my neck they would have to straddle my legs. Most vampires don’t take my size into account and it gives me a better chance of breaking the hold because of their ignorance.”Jane explained.

“That makes sense.”Tanya wouldn’t think of adjusting her attack to Jane’s smaller body.

“Because of that I will just show you how to get out from Kate’s hold.”Jane laid on the floor and demonstrated how to use your arms and body to buck an enemy off of her body.”Rosalie you try.”

“I got this.”Rosalie did exactly what Jane had shown them and even with Kate’s resistance was easily able to throw Kate off of her. She was very surprised that it actually worked.”I did it.”

“I didn’t have a chance.”Kate knew that even if she used her full strength that she wouldn’t have been able to stop Rosalie from freeing herself.

“Can I try?”Irina wanted a chance to do the move to make sure she could do it in the future.

“Kate do you mind trying again?”Jane asked.

“No I’ll go again.”Kate was going to see if she could figure out how to stop Irina from tossing her.

“Just do exactly what Rosalie did.”Jane told her.

Irina waited until Kate wrapped her arms around her neck before doing exactly like Jane taught them and sent Kate flying. She couldn’t believe how easy she succeeded.”I didn’t even use that much force.”

“The move uses the other person’s body as a leverage. That’s why it works so well.”Jane explained.

“Well I’m definitely using it in the future.”Rosalie felt a lot better knowing that she had a way to get out of such a position.

Before Jane could reply her phone alerted her to a new text message. Pulling it out she was pleased with what she read.”Bella is on her way to meet with the queen.”

“Does that mean we will get to see her soon?”Rosalie hoped so. She desperately wanted to see her mate.

Jane type a message back.”I told her what we doing.”

“Will she come help out?”Kate liked learning from Jane but knew that Bella would teach them more advanced stuff.

Jane read the reply.”She said that if we were still here when she was done with her mother she would come see what we were doing.”

“Yes!”Kate cheered.

“That doesn’t mean she will train with us.”Jane said.

“But it doesn’t mean she won’t right?”Rosalie would really like Bella to train them.

“It will be up to her but if she does help be prepared for her to show you no mercy.”Jane warned.

“We can handle it.”Kate wouldn’t miss the chance to learn from the Silver Assassin. Even if it meant that she was likely going to get her ass kicked.

“Until then let’s run though a few more things.”Jane suggested.

“That sounds like a good idea.”Rosalie may have wanted Bella to train her but didn’t want to stop Jane from teaching them more incase Bella declined to help. Watching as Tanya took her turn to fight off Kate Rosalie was pleased with how the day had gone so far. She had learned a bunch of valuable lessons and felt a lot better about being able to defend herself if she were attacked. At least now she would be able to get free of a hold to give someone else time to come save her. Not that Rosalie wanted to be saved. Hopefully Bella would be willing to teach them some offensive moves. If even a tenth of the rumors about the Silver Assassin’s fighting ability were true then Bella was the best person to learn from. Jane was a good teacher but as the small vampire said she didn’t usually have the opportunity to use her hands to fight. She mostly relied on her gift. Rosalie gave an internal shrug. Either Bella would train them or she wouldn’t. Yes it would be nice if she would but Rosalie didn’t really care. What she cared about was that Bella was going to spend time with her and Rosalie would finally get the chance to see that her mate was alright. That was definitely more important than learning how to fight.
