Death's Visit 5

“I should have asked her what time she was planning on coming.”Rosalie grumbled as she paced her bedroom. She was waiting impatiently for Isabella to show up. Rosalie was worried if she didn’t show up soon her family would come home before she got there. That was something she didn’t want to happen. She had no plans of introducing Isabella to her family any time soon. Her family that spent the night searching all over Seattle to try and find Isabella. Rosalie smiled thinking about how frustrated Carlisle was when he got home. They had found nothing of course and the man was very unhappy. He tried to question Rosalie again to get more information but she stuck to her lie of not knowing anything. She was sure he didn’t believe her but that was his problem not hers. Hearing the doorbell Rosalie rushed to the front door opening it to find Isabella standing on the front step.

“Hello.”Isabella greeted.

“Hi.”Rosalie held the door open.”Do you want to come in?”

“Thank you.”Isabella walked into the house not completely sure what to do. She had never been invited into a mortal’s home before for a social visit.

“I thought we could go to my room to talk. That way if my family comes home they won’t know you are here.”Realizing how that sounded Rosalie quickly added.”Not because I’m ashamed to be seen with you. I just know that they would overwhelm you with questions and would be overall annoying.”

“I would actually prefer not to have to meet anyone else.”Isabella wasn’t keen on being exposed to others. The only reason she bothered with Rosalie was because the girl was interesting and Isabella felt the need to get to know her better. Anyone who would commit murder to speak to her was someone worth knowing.

“Good. Then follow me.”Rosalie was relieved that Isabella didn’t want to meet her family. She was being truthful that she wasn’t ashamed of Isabella she just didn’t want to deal with all the questions. At least not before Rosalie could convince Isabella to go through with the ceremony to complete the mate bond.

Isabella dutifully followed Rosalie up a set of stairs, down a hallway into a bedroom. The room looked like what Isabella would consider a mortal would be comfortable in. One thing of interest was there was a bed.”You have a bed.”

“Oh yeah I like to lay down some times.”Rosalie was happy she couldn’t blush because she would if she had told Isabella the real reason she had a bed. Something she had acquired as soon as the closest furniture store opened that morning. Now that she had a mate she wanted a place for them to be intimate. Something she was hoping would happen soon. Not that anyone could blame her. She was a newly mated vampire. Plus her mate was extremely attractive. Rosalie wanted to get Isabella out her clothes as soon as possible.

“I see.”Isabella thought that made sense. Some vampires liked to hang on to habits from their human life.

“Why don’t we sit by the window and talk?”Rosalie suggested.

“If that’s what you want to do then I don’t mind.”Isabella moved some pillows off of the window seat before sitting down.

“So.”Rosalie took a seat across from Isabella. Now that they were sitting there she was somewhat at a loss of how to get the conversation going. She had many things she wanted to talk to Isabella about but didn’t know where to start.

“I found out who your guardian angel is and spoke to them.”Isabella told her.

“Who is it?”Rosalie asked.

“They asked me not to tell you their name but sent a message.”Isabella wasn’t going to go against the angel’s wishes as they had different rules than reapers.

“What message?”Rosalie was disappointed that she couldn’t know who her angel was but was interested in what they had to say to her.

“It’s actually in two parts. The first being that they shielded you from gifts to not only protect you but to protect anything you might see regarding your bond mate.”Isabella hadn’t asked what that meant because she figured if the angel wanted her to know she would tell her.

“It was my guardian angel that is the reason that my mind if shielded from gifts.”Rosalie had thought that it had to do with Isabella. Finding out that it was her guardian angel who did it to protect her was very surprising. Seeing Isabella nod in reply Rosalie smiled.”Carlisle is going to be so pissed when he realizes that he won’t have a way to protect himself.”

“Who is Carlisle?”Isabella asked.

“He is my sire and our coven leader. When I came home last night from meeting you he questioned me on being able to shield myself from my coven mates’ gifts. I told him I didn’t know and that I didn’t meet anyone other than the first man I killed. I don’t think he believed me. He actually spent the rest of the night with my coven searching Seattle trying to find a clue to how it happened.”Rosalie explained.

“Well he is going to be very disappointed because guardian angels don’t usually interfere. The fact that yours did is very surprising.”Isabella could count on both hands the number of times a guardian angel directly acted to help out those they were assigned to.

“Guardian angels don’t usually help the person they are responsible for?”Rosalie wondered why hers did.

Isabella shook her head.”No they are usually very hands off. They have to get permission to act and it’s often not given. God likes his creations to use their free will and doesn’t want guardian angels to interfere.”

“If there are angels does that mean there are demons?”Rosalie figured there had to be if angels and grim reapers existed.

“Yes just like with angels there are many types of demons. They are Satan’s creations and they interfere all the time.”Isabella told her.

“How do they interfere?”Rosalie asked.

“Demons have the ability to know what your every desire is. Most of the time when they act they prey on their target by convincing them that they can achieve anything they want if they are willing to sin. Be that by killing a rival or betting their entire savings trying to get rich quick. Sometimes they convince them to give up on their goals and give into their desires. They are very manipulative and don’t usually rest until their marks give in.”Isabella had seen the lengths a demon would go to get their way.

“Why are they allowed to interfere but not angels?”Rosalie would have thought if angels were so limited that demons would be as well.

“It was an agreement made between God and Satan. They needed to have the humans prove if they were worthy of heaven. Demons are sent to interfere so that a mortal can be tested to see what afterlife they deserve. If the mortal resists the demon and is able to live as a good person they go to heaven. If they follow the demons lead depending on how severe the sin they commit they go to hell.”Isabella explained.

Rosalie was suddenly very worried about what afterlife she would earn based on the life she led.”Would I go to hell because I murdered all those men?”

“Murder isn’t a sin if you are killing someone who needs to die. All the men you have killed have gone to hell. That means they deserved to die. You cleansed the world of monsters. If they were innocent then you would be brought to hell upon your death but I can guarantee that if you died today you would earn your spot in heaven.”Isabella was positive that Rosalie would have a good afterlife. She rid the world of scum and saved many humans from horrible fates.

“Really?”Rosalie was beyond surprised to hear that. She would have assumed that killing someone would earn you a ticket to hell. Thinking of killing someone bought with it a thought.”My brother Edward has murdered a bunch of people that he claims deserved it. Is there a way find out if he was right?”

“I could easily find out if you want me to. I would need to know is human name and date of birth.”Isabella would just have to speak to Saint Peter and Charlie to see if they admitted anyone the vampire killed.

“His human name was Edward Mason and he was born June 20, 1901.”Rosalie couldn’t wait to find out if Edward actually killed innocent humans. Rosalie was positive he did. It was to bad that if he did she wouldn’t be able to tell him how she knew. Maybe when she finally introduced Isabella to the family she would have the reaper tell him.

“I will get the information for you next time I visit the underworld and heaven.”Isabella didn’t mind doing a favor for Rosalie. The girl was pleasant to be around.

“Thank you.”Rosalie said.

Isabella waved away the thanks.”I assure you it’s no problem.”

“You said that my guardian angel’s message was two parts. What was the other part of it?”Rosalie asked.

“They said that your suffering hasn’t gone unnoticed and that just because you are no longer living doesn’t mean you can’t create life with your bond mate.”Isabella wasn’t sure what that part of the message meant either and was very concerned when Rosalie covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes filled with tears and her shoulders started shaking.”Are you alright?”

Rosalie tried as hard as she could to stop the sobs from coming but couldn’t. Finding out that children were in her reach was too much. She couldn’t believe that she could actually fulfill her wish to be a mother. Acting on impulse she lunged at Isabella and threw her arms around the reaper’s neck and sob almost violently on her shoulder. She became concerned that she overstepped when Isabella’s body became rigid. Just as she about to apologize Isabella’s arms wrapped around her and held her tightly. That just made Rosalie sob harder.

“It’ll be alright.”Isabella wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to say but had seen humans say it when they consoled each other after their loved ones died. She had never had to comfort someone before and didn’t know if she was doing it right. Thinking about it she realized this was the first hug she had ever gotten as well. The fact that Rosalie hadn’t calmed down made Isabella think that she was failing miserably at helping the young vampire. She actually didn’t know why she was even trying just that she didn’t like seeing Rosalie upset.

It took Rosalie a while but she was finally able to get control of her emotions. Pulling back from the hug she looked away from Isabella in embarrassment.”Sorry about that.”

“There is no need to be sorry. I hope that I helped you feel better.”Isabella said.

“You did.”Rosalie had felt a lot better when she was in Isabella’s arms. She didn’t want break up the moment. The only reason she did was because she didn’t want to make Isabella uncomfortable.

“Can you tell me why you are upset?”Isabella was interested in why the angel’s message had caused Rosalie so much distress.

“It didn’t make me upset. Well it did but not because it was bad news. I was crying because the message made me so happy.”Rosalie explained.

“People cry when they are happy?”Isabella hadn’t known that.

“Some times. It depends on the situation. Like the message from angel made me cry because they told me that my ultimate wish was going to come true. Something I thought would never happen and mourned the loss of is now possible. It made me so happy that it overwhelmed my emotions and all I could do was cry.”Rosalie predicted that even if Isabella went through the ceremony to feel emotions that she would have to explain a lot of things to her mate about why she and others felt the way they did.

“Interesting.”Isabella wouldn’t have thought that mortals cried when they were happy. She would have to pay closer attention to the next one she saw do it.

“How does somebody become a reaper?”Rosalie wasn’t going to talk about having children with Isabella right then because she wanted to wait until she convinced Isabella to complete the mate bond. She didn’t want to overwhelm Isabella with plans for the future and give her a reason to not want to be Rosalie’s mate.

“Reapers are created by god.”Isabella told her.

“You don’t have a mother and father?”Rosalie thought everyone had mothers and fathers.

Isabella shook her head.”Reapers are one of the few species that God himself creates.”

“Do you mature like humans?”Rosalie asked.

“No we step into our roles fully developed. There is no growth. I simply came into existence in my current reaper form and I will continue to maintain that form for the rest of eternity.”Isabella explained.

“How does that work? How do just come into the world all grown up?”Rosalie didn’t understand how Isabella could have always been an adult.

“There was no big production or struggle. God used his power to manifest me into existence. As soon as I opened my eyes I had all the information I needed to do my job. There was no need to train. I had all the tools and skills to be a productive reaper.”Isabella hadn’t really thought it was odd but by the look Rosalie was giving her she had a feeling the vampire thought so.

“So god personally manifested you. And ever since you have been alive you have always been a reaper?”Rosalie’s mind couldn’t comprehend how Isabella came to be. She couldn’t imagine how it would feel to just come into existence one day and jump right into a job.

“Yes I was created at the same time humans were and have been reaping souls ever since.”Isabella told her.

“You have lived as long as humans and that whole time you have never felt emotions.”When Isabella nodded Rosalie was even more flabbergasted. It was to crazy to even consider someone as old as Isabella could have never been happy or sad.”Do you enjoy life?”

“Not to the same extent as god’s other creations do but I do find contentment in certain activities.”Isabella said.

“What activities?”Rosalie was very curious to know what Isabella considered worthy enough to spent her time doing.

“I watch souls in hell be punished. I also spend a lot of time in the human realm shopping for angels and demons that ask me to get things for them. Other than that I mainly just do my job.”Isabella couldn’t imagine doing much else.

“You go to hell to watch souls be punished?”Rosalie wouldn’t have thought anyone would voluntarily spend time in hell.

“You are actually quite famous in the underworld.”Isabella told her.

“Why would I be famous in hell?”Rosalie asked.

“Your method of killing your first five victims is something of legends. It is still talked about. When the demons in hell found out that you starting killing again many volunteered to dole out punishments to your victims soul’s. It’s quite the honor to be associated with you.”When Isabella told Charlie that Rosalie had started killing again the man squealed in excitement.

“Wait what?”Rosalie wasn’t sure she heard Isabella correctly.”You are trying to tell me that I am famous in hell for murdering people?”

“You are famous for the victims you picked and the method you used to kill them. Demons love when a soul worthy of hell gets their due while they are alive. You torturing and beating all the men to death doesn’t happen often. They respect you because you understand that certain people deserve to be punished.”Isabella explained.

“I don’t know if I should be flattered that I am so respected by demons or horrified.”Rosalie was leaning towards being flattered.

“You are respected by Satan as well. He was inspired by your killing of Royce King Jr. All the demons involved in his punishment wear wedding dresses in honor of you.”Isabella had thought it was nice touch to the punishment.

“Seriously?”Rosalie asked.

“Yes it is a desired position and often used to reward a demon.”Isabella told her.

“I want to say you are lying but I know you are not.”Rosalie actually felt a great deal of satisfaction knowing that Royce would be constantly reminded of her.

Just as Isabella was about to reply her watch buzzed. Looking at it she saw a soul notification.”I hate to end our time together but I need to go collect a soul.”

“Oh.”Rosalie didn’t want Isabella to leave. They barely got a chance to talk.

“I had a nice time talking to you Rosalie.”Isabella did have a nice time and decided that Rosalie was a person she was willing to get to know better.

“Can I see you again?”Rosalie wanted to make set plans so that she didn’t have to go murder another person to get to see her mate. Although she was more than willing to do it. Especially since she found out that it wouldn’t send her to hell.

“Of course. When would you like me to visit?”Isabella asked.

“Can you come tomorrow?”Rosalie would just take another day off from school.

“I’m sure I can find some time tomorrow.”Isabella said.

“Then I will see you tomorrow.”Rosalie followed Isabella’s lead and stood from her spot on the window seat. She wanted to give her mate a hug but held back. She had already pushed her luck earlier she didn’t want make Isabella uncomfortable.

“See you tomorrow.”Isabella gave Rosalie a smile then faded from view.

“See you tomorrow.”Rosalie replied before feeling Isabella’s presence leaving. Isabella had given her a lot to think about. The most important thing was the fact that Rosalie would be able to have children with Isabella. She had long ago gotten over the disappointment of never being a mother and now that the opportunity was in front of her Rosalie was going to do everything she could to make it happen. The first thing she had to do was convince Isabella to be her mate. She felt she had made some progress with the reaper after their talk. Isabella had agreed to see Rosalie again. That had to be a good sign. Now she just had to figure out a way to bring up the topic the next time they spoke without letting Isabella know they were mates. Rosalie didn’t want to scare her off. Something she was positive would happen if Isabella found out. Sighing Rosalie threw herself on her bed. This having a mate thing was harder than she expected it to be. It was only the fact that she knew Isabella was worth putting in the effort that kept her from giving up. In the future she would just remind herself that the rewards were definitely worth the struggle. She was able to have children. That alone was worth fighting for.
