Death's Visit 4

“Why do you smell like human blood?”Edward demanded as soon as Rosalie entered the Cullen’s home. Rosalie held back a sigh. She had stopped at a truck station in Seattle to shower and change her clothes. She thought she got all the traces of human blood off of her but apparently she didn’t. Now she was going to have to deal with Edward and everyone else’s disapproval of her actions. She would have just lied about it but Edward would hear her thoughts and would know instantly. Deciding to deal with it head on Rosalie walked into the dinning room and took a seat at the table the rest of her family doing the same.

“I had a run in with a human that ended with the human dying.”Rosalie told him.

Edward focused on Rosalie’s thoughts trying to get the whole story but wasn’t able to see anything.”Why can’t I hear your thoughts anymore?”

“What do you mean?”Carlisle asked.

“Her mind it’s blank. Like she is blocking me somehow.”Edward was not happy about this new development.

Alice closed her eyes and concentrated on Rosalie’s future. Not seeing anything she growled.”I can’t see her future anymore either. I didn’t even know what happened tonight. Jasper what about you?”

“I can’t feel a thing coming from her and she isn’t responding to my influence.”Jasper said.

“Rosalie what happened tonight?”Carlisle was very interested in finding out how Rosalie was able to block their gifts.

“I went to Seattle to experience the night life and ran across a man who tried to attack me. I killed him. To wash the blood off I stopped at a truck stop and showered. After that I came home.”Rosalie wasn’t sure how she was blocking anyone’s gifts but was more than happy to use the opportunity to lie to her family. She wondered if it was her bond to Isabella that was affecting her. She would ask the reaper when she saw her again.

“Who did you meet while you were out?”Carlisle asked.

“I only talked to the bouncer and the man I killed. The rest of the time I spent dancing by myself.”Rosalie wasn’t going to tell them anything about Isabella. Especially since the reaper was most likely the reason she could block them.

“You didn’t encounter another supernatural? No vampires or shifters?”Edward didn’t believe for a second Rosalie was telling the truth. She had to have come across someone with a gift that made her immune to other’s gifts.

Rosalie shook her head.”I only saw humans when I was at the bar. If there was something else there I didn’t notice.”

“You are positive you didn’t come in contract with a vampire or a shifter that could have helped you block others?”Carlisle asked.

“I’m positive.”Rosalie told them.

“Close your eyes and think back through your night.”Carlisle instructed.”Did anything seem out of the ordinary? Did something not feel right?”

“I’m telling you nothing was out of the ordinary. I only noticed humans and I definitely didn’t sense anything out of place.”Rosalie was trying hard not to smirk. She liked being able to hide her thoughts and feelings from the family. With Alice’s gift blocked as well Rosalie was finally able to have the privacy she always wanted. Hopefully the ability was permanent.

“What bar did you go to?”Edward knew Rosalie was lying. He was just frustrated he couldn’t take the information from her mind to prove it.

“I went to Show Gun in Seattle.”Rosalie at least started there. After killing her first two victims she had moved on to another bar across the city to pick the third guy she killed.

“I think we should check it out.”Carlisle suggested.

“Why would we want to go there?”Emmett didn’t know why they would bother going to the bar when Rosalie said she didn’t suspect anything.

“Rosalie doesn’t know who did this to her. If the rest of us go and search the bar and surrounding area we may we able to find some clue as to who or what they are. Maybe we will get lucky and find the actual person.”Carlisle explained.

“I’m not going back.”Rosalie said.

“Why not?”Alice asked.

“Because it would look suspicious if I returned wearing different clothing after I killed one of the patrons.”Rosalie also didn’t want to waste her time.

“That’s a good point.”Esme thought that was more than reasonable.

“That is another thing that should be brought up. Why did you kill someone?”Edward asked.

“I told you he attacked me.”Rosalie was somewhat telling the truth. He did try to fight back so that could be considered an attack.

“Why didn’t you just leave the situation? Why did you escalate it?”Carlisle wasn’t pleased to hear Rosalie had killed yet another person. Especially so soon after she killed the guys in Port Angles.

“Should I have just ignored him and let him attack the next defenseless woman he saw?”Rosalie wasn’t surprised that Carlisle disapproved of her killing someone. He would spare a serial killer even if he caught them in the act.

“There is no guarantee the man was going to hurt someone else.You should have.”Carlisle began only to be cut off by Rosalie.

“I should have done exactly what I did. I’m not ashamed of it. Hell I would do it again.”Rosalie would have killed hundreds more like him if that’s what it took for Isabella to talk to her. Not that she was going to say that to them.

“Rosalie!!”Esme exclaimed in shock.

“You most out of all should be on my side.”Rosalie shouldn’t have to be defending herself to Esme. The woman’s entire human live was overrun by abusive men.

“It doesn’t matter what someone does. It’s not our place to judge them.”Carlisle said.

“How about when Edward went off on his own? You didn’t even lecture him about the killing spree he want on. You just gave him a hug and welcomed him back to the family. Why am I being called out for killing a man when Edward killed dozens based on what he saw in their heads. He didn’t even know for sure if they committed the crimes.”Rosalie had remembered the whole event. Carlisle had wept when Edward returned. Never once was anything said about what he had done. Even when Edward admitted it Carlisle didn’t reprimand him.”Or let’s bring up the fact that Edward drank from his victims.”

“What I did was noble. What you are doing is not only immoral but it is reckless.”Edward wasn’t ashamed of what he had done. The world was better off without the men he had killed.

”Noble?!”Rosalie laughed.”You decided whether someone should live or die based on their thoughts. You had no proof that they even did anything wrong.”

“Rosalie’s got a point. I think about killing humans all the time but that doesn’t mean I’m actually going to do it.”Emmett thought about a lot of things that he never really would do. Like rob a bank. He was sure the experience would be amazing but he wouldn’t really do it.

“I sometimes go into graphic detail of how I want to torture the kids at school before I drain them but I’m not going to do it.”Jasper was on Rosalie’s side on this. At least she had caught her victims in the act.

“I have seen everyone in this family including Carlisle making the wrong decision and giving into their instincts only to change their minds. Does that mean each of us should die as well?”Alice was thinking the same thing as Jasper. Rosalie made sure her victims were guilty. She didn’t jump to conclusions. Edward based his picks on his own assumptions.

Edward growled.“I killed only the deserving!”

“I don’t drink from my victims. Why did you drink from yours?”Rosalie asked.

“Edward has repented for his actions. There is no need to rehash things that have already been put to rest.”Carlisle said.

“How has he repented?”Jasper was very interested in hearing what Edward had done to be forgiven because Jasper had never seen or heard of him doing anything.

“He has shown his remorse and not strayed from god’s path since he has come home.”Carlisle told them.

“He just said he only killed the deserving. That doesn’t sound like someone who feels remorse.”Rosalie pointed out.

“Yeah and let’s not forget the fact that he has yet to say why he drank their blood.”Emmett added.

“Edward has shown a lot of remorse. Not only that but his control over his bloodlust is better than even my own.”Carlisle wasn’t going to let his children gang up on Edward.

“Actually the one who has the best control out all of us is Rosalie. She has never drank human blood. Add to the fact that she had killed over half a dozen men proves that her control is better than yours Carlisle.”Alice said.

“It is very commendable that she is able to control her beast enough that she doesn’t give in and drain her victims.”Jasper had always admired Rosalie for that.

Rosalie wasn’t going to tell them the reason she never lost complete control was because she had felt Isabella’s presence. A presence that reminded Rosalie that she wasn’t alone. Isabella brought with her comfort. Comfort that allowed Rosalie to let go of her anger when the killings were over.”Unlike Edward I have never wanted to have any part of the filth I kill inside my body.”

“Drinking from them was the quickest way to kill them.”Edward told them.

“You are honestly trying to say you drank from humans because it was the quickest way to kill them?”Rosalie wanted to make sure she understood exactly what Edward said.

Edward nodded.”I had to stealthy and fast when I killed. The best way to do both those things was to drain them.”

“It takes a lot longer to drain a human of all it’s blood then it does to simply snap their neck. That’s not even getting into the fact that by leaving dead humans drained of all their blood would make the humans suspicious. Unless of course you properly disposed of the bodies.”Jasper doubted that Edward had covered his tracks.

“I only hunted in cities. There weren’t proper places to dispose of the bodies.”Edward hadn’t wanted to get caught so he left the dead body where he had killed them.

“You are lucky that you decided to go on your killing spree so long ago. If you did it now you would definitely bring the attention of the Volturi.”Emmett said.

“Something that Rosalie has probably already done.”Carlisle needed them to change the subject away from Edward. He knew his son was right in what he did and Carlisle didn’t want the others making Edward question his actions.

Rosalie rolled her eyes at Carlisle’s obvious attempt to get the attention off of Edward.”Do you think I’m stupid? I left no evidence of a murder happening. If anyone actually finds the body they won’t link it to me or any other vampire.”

“Well we will finding out soon.”Carlisle said getting everyone back on track.”Everyone get changed into clothes that will let us blend in with a bar crowd.”

“What exactly are we looking for?”Alice asked.

“Anyone or anything that can lead us to finding out how Rosalie can block everyone’s gifts.”Carlisle told him.

“Like what?”Emmett didn’t have any idea what to look for.

“Look for things like someone paying close attention you or any of us.If you get a weird feeling of someone watching you or something just doesn’t feel right let one of us know. We will be searching not only the bar but the area around it. We need the location of the truck stop you went to as well Rosalie.”Carlisle was going to search every area Rosalie had been to find out why she was immune to the gifts. That way if he did figure out how it was done he could have it done to himself and the rest of the family.

“It’s the one near the Radisson right off the first exit to Seattle.”Rosalie told him.

“Alright we will go there after the bar. Everyone get moving. I want to make it to the bar before it closes. Rosalie call me if you remember anything that you think could leads us to knowing why you are now shielded.”Carlisle told her.

“Sure.”Rosalie lied. She wasn’t going to tell him anything. Standing from her seat Rosalie made her way to her room and shut the door behind her. Shut doors were the only thing the family respected and she didn’t want to be bothered before they left or when they returned. Thinking about the rest of the family scourging all over Seattle to find Isabella made her laugh out loud. The idiots weren’t going to find anything. Maybe if they killed someone they would but she doubted that they would do that. It wouldn’t matter anyway. Isabella said that reapers were assigned souls at random. Well except if they were mated to the killer. At least that’s what Rosalie figured based on Isabella showing up every time she killed someone. The only way to find out for sure was to ask her guardian angel. That being something she hoped she would get the chance to do. Rosalie had many questions for whoever they were. Then again who wouldn’t want to find out why their life turned out the way it had.
