My Own Worst Enemy 13

“I wish you had beaten on him more but watching how upset he was seeing Esme and Edward being tortured almost makes up for it.”Rosalie said. She along with Bella, the queens and the Denali sisters were back in the entertainment room watching the videos of the queens and the sisters beating on Edward, Esme and Carlisle. Rosalie was sad that she wasn’t involved and was looking forward to having her chance at the other two for the role they played in keeping her away from Bella. Bella who sitting in between her stretched out legs with Rosalie cuddling her from behind. The bond wasn’t fully in place yet but Rosalie felt enough of it that she was enjoying having Bella so close. She wanted Carlisle to be killed soon so that she would be able to feel the bond completely. Rosalie understood why they were waiting it was just frustrating knowing that she could finally fully experience having a mate. After thinking that she was never going to get her chance with Bella Rosalie was anxious to begin their life together.

“We instructed the guards to put them all back together and give them the human blood.”Sulpicia had waited four hours before she allowed it to happen. She would have done it sooner but she was occupied with her mates.

“Do you know the last time Carlisle fed?”Tanya asked Rosalie.

“I think it’s been a week. He made comments about needing to go when we got to Alaska.”Rosalie told her.

“He must have been distracted by the summons he got because he didn’t go while he was there.”Kate said.

“Add to the lack of feeding and the injuries he should be close to giving in.”Irina figured that Carlisle was close to drinking the blood.

“He will need the blood to be at full strength to pull off whatever convoluted plan he has to escape and kill us.”Athenodora thought that would be the justification Carlisle would use to break his diet.

“You think he is going to kill you.”Rosalie didn’t think Carlisle would try something like that.

Athenodora nodded.”I guarantee that Carlisle’s main objective is to kill at least myself and the other queens. Probably the sisters as well. You and Bella will be alright because he thinks that you both are being brainwashed and will likely try to save you.”

“I bet he is already planning all the many things he will do once he becomes king.”Didyme would love to hear all of Carlisle’s schemes.”Maybe we should pull the guards with the handhelds. That way Carlisle will speak to the others about his plan.”

“After he drinks the human blood. I don’t want to miss the moment he takes his first sip.”Sulpicia wanted to know about Carlisle’s plans to but that wasn’t more important than Carlisle finally giving in to his vampire side.

“What was he like when you were in the dungeons with him?”Tanya asked Rosalie.

“Like with all things dealing with Edward he was outraged at the treatment of his son. He ranted about all kinds of nonsense and made insane accusations against all of you. One of them being the big gay conspiracy of lesbians forcing straight women into relationships with other women. That was also when he admitted that he had been trying to break up the sisters by leading them on god’s path.”Rosalie told them.

”I can understand the conspiracy thing but to think that Tanya, Irina and myself would ever break up is ludicrous.”Kate would never break up with her mates.

“I want to know what tactics he was using to try and break us up.”Irina said.

“He said that he knew if he spoke directly to you about it you would reject the idea and that he has been bringing it up subtly. He also said that he had been making progress and you would have been willing to find your real mates soon but the queens have influenced you. Making it so you backtracked.”Rosalie joined in when the others started laughing.

“Is that why he thinks Chelsea is still alive?”Sulpicia asked.

“He believes that you are so power hungry you were able to not only kill your real mates but you are forcing Chelsea to create fake bonds.He thinks it’s the only way you would have any support from the guard.”Even before Rosalie knew the truth she never believed that the queens would do something so despicable.

“It’s ironic that he would accuse us off doing the very thing the kings did.”Didyme wasn’t surprised Carlisle thought so poorly of them.

“He claims that he was very good friends with the kings. I don’t know how true that was.”Rosalie didn’t know much about the royals other than what Carlisle told her.

“Carlisle friends with the kings?”Athenodora laughed at the very idea.”The kings interest in Carlisle wasn’t that of a friendship. They kept him around to study him. They wanted to know what the long term effects of living on an animal blood would be. They really couldn’t stand him and would complain about him all the time. The last conversation I heard them have about him was that they were planning on rounding up your coven and bringing them to the castle.”

“Wait the kings were targeting us?”Rosalie hadn’t heard anything about that.

“Aro was extremely paranoid. That’s why there are laws in place for how big a coven can get. When Carlisle started filling his so rapidly with gifted vampires the kings saw it as him trying to overthrow them. The only reason they waited so long to come after you was they were trying to find proof of you breaking the law.”Athenodora explained.

“What do you mean there are laws for how big a coven can get?”Rosalie asked.

“Carlisle really didn’t tell you guys anything.”Kate grumbled.

“After the kings took over from the Romanians they forbid covens from having more than 6 members. If you had more than six the coven had to downsize. There were no exception. When Carlisle broke that law the kings held back from acting wanting to see what his plans were. They figured that Carlisle would have allies he contacted to form an army to overthrow them and wanted to get all guilty parties before they acted.”Sulpicia remembered the many rants each of the kings had about Carlisle and his plans. It was a main topic of conversation for decades.

“If they thought Carlisle was going to overthrow them then I bet when they found out about Bella’s gift they were very excited.”Rosalie knew if she was in the kings place she would want Bella in the guard.

“From the little we heard their plan for Bella was to get Chelsea to transfer the familiar bond to Aro. Then he was going to kill the sisters so they would have no way of interfering in the future. Eleazar and Carmen were only going to be allowed to live because of Eleazar’s gift.”Didyme had been appalled that Aro wanted to not only take a child from her parents but kill the parents right after as well.

Irina growled just thinking about what happened in the throne room.”It didn’t matter if Bella’s gift blocked Chelsea we would have never let that happen.”

“She has a maternal bond with each of her three sires. I doubt that Chelsea would have been able to actually do anything.”Tanya may have been nervous in the throne room but that was because she knew they would have to fight their way out. She didn’t want Bella to get hurt when that happened.

Hearing mention of the maternal bonds brought up something Rosalie wanted to ask about.”How did you meet Bella?”

“We met Bella when we went to Forks to clean up your mess.”Kate said.

“What mess?”Rosalie asked.

“Did none of you think killing the tracker and leaving his mate alive was a bad idea?”Irina asked ignoring Rosalie’s question.

“You met Bella because of Victoria?”Rosalie hadn’t really thought about Victoria after they had killed James.

“I don’t know if you know it but when a vampire is killed and their mate lives that mate loses their mind. Usually they try to kill themselves but if their mate is murdered their entire focus turns to those that did the killing. Their instincts drive them to avenge their mate and nothing will stop them from succeeding.”Tanya figured with Carlisle’s belief that women were weak he thought that Victoria killed herself.

“What did she do?”Rosalie was sure it wasn’t anything good.

“She created a newborn army to capture Bella.”Tanya told her.

“She what?!!”Rosalie exclaimed in shock.

“Oh yeah when we finally found them she had over 40 of them. Some of them with gifts that helped her control them. Myself, my mates, Carmen and Eleazar took care of them but it was a close call. If they had been more mature we probably would have lost.”Kate had enjoyed the battle but wasn’t naive enough to think if they weren’t a bunch of impulsive newborns they would have been victorious.

“How did that lead to you finding Bella?”Rosalie was reevaluating what kind of threat the Denali were. She was aways told they didn’t like violence or confrontation and went out of their way to stay out any fights. She had thought the only reason they were able to overthrow of the kings was because of Bella. Finding out what they did to those newborns proved that Bella wasn’t their only way to protect themselves.

“After we killed all the newborns and Victoria we searched the warehouse they were staying at and found an office that was covered in pictures of Bella. It was obvious that Victoria created the army to get her but we didn’t know why the vampire was so obsessed with a human girl. Deciding to investigate further we followed one of the maps Victoria had of Forks that she labeled important places that Bella was known to go. We found Bella in the woods reading a book all by herself.”Tanya explained.

“What happened when you saw her?”Rosalie asked.

“Irina rushed right to her and scooped her up in her arms.Poor Bella didn’t know what was going on and began screaming at the top of her lungs for help.”Kate laughed remembering the scene.

“What did you expect me to do. I thought I was by myself when all of a sudden a vampire that I had never met before was holding me so tight I couldn’t even wiggle my fingers. Screaming was the only way I had to defend myself.” Bella had thought she was going to be killed at the time.

“I think I would have screamed as well.”Rosalie couldn’t blame Bella for her reaction. Rosalie would have done the same if she as in her position.”How did you get Bella to calm down?”

“We didn’t.”Seeing Rosalie confused expression Tanya explained.”All the screaming caught the attention of the wolf pack. Ten of them attacked us. We easily subdued them and when they realized they lost the alpha switched back to human to speak to us. He wanted to know why golden eyed vampires were targeting a human. We explained that we not after Bella we had actually saved her from Victoria and the newborn army. They of course didn’t believe us so we told them the location of the warehouse.”

“So you fought the wolf pack and won?”Seeing Kate nod brought more questions to Rosalie.”What was Bella doing while this was going on?”

“She had stopped screaming and moved on to complaining.”Kate told her.

“Why were you complaining?”Rosalie asked Bella.

“Even when it became obvious that no one was going to hurt me Irina refused to let me go. She simply shifted my body so she was cradling me like a child. No matter what I said or did she wouldn’t put me down.”Bella had been extremely irritated with the whole situation.

Irina huffed.“Well excuse me for wanting to hold my daughter after meeting her for the first time.”

“What happened with the wolves?”Rosalie had known that the story of Bella meeting the Denali was going to be interesting but would never have thought it included a newborn army and the wolf pack.

“They tried to force us to leave the area but we politely declined. There wasn’t much they could do to us so after a few threats they left the clearing we were in.”Kate had wished the wolves had put up a better fight. It was almost boring how easily they were able to defeat them.

“They just left you alone with Bella.”Rosalie would have thought that the wolves would have refused to leave Bella alone with a bunch of unfamiliar vampires.

”They really didn’t have any other choice. More than half of them were wounded enough that they would need time to recover. They didn’t have any chance of killing us.”Tanya told her.

“Once you guys were alone what happened?”Rosalie asked.

“Once they left we all turned our attention to Bella. She was of course wary about even speaking to any of us after what your former coven had done to her but was nice enough to tell us what had happened that led to her being targeted by Victoria.”Irina said.

“I bet you guys weren’t happy with what you heard.”Rosalie guessed.

“That’s the understatement of the century. Myself and Tanya destroyed half the forest in our rage. The only reason Irina didn’t help was she was still holding Bella.”Kate would have done more damage but didn’t want to be away from Bella.

“That’s why you guys were so angry when we visited you in Alaska.”Rosalie concluded.

“It was our plan to get your coven to start a fight so we could be justified in killing all of you. The mate bond changed everything.”Irina was just happy she would get to kill Esme. The Cullen matriarch was the one she hated the most.

“How did you react to learning that you had familiar bonds with them?”Rosalie asked Bella.

“I knew that Edward lied to me about being his mate and when my mothers tried to claim a familiar bond I thought they were lying as well.”Bella was ashamed of how she treated her mothers when they first met.

Kate easily picked up on Bella’s thoughts. Moving to sit next to Bella she took her daughter’s hand in her own.”None of us blame you for the way you reacted. It was because of Cullens. You are in no way responsible for how you acted when we first met.”

“I still could’ve been a little nicer.”Bella said.

“It took some time but we got there eventually.”Tanya wished they had made quicker progress with Bella but she and her mates had to heal the damage the Cullens had done to Bella before the girl was even open to speaking to them.

“And we couldn’t be happier with the way things are now.”Irina wished the same as Tanya but was happy with the way it turned out with her daughter. If anything the relationship they shared was closer than a normal familiar bonded pair. It was probably because Bella loved them when she was human before she even felt the bond completely.

Bella snuggled back into Rosalie’s body.”Me neither.”

“Now we all just have to wait until Carlisle cracks and then we can kill the man.”Athenodora said.

“I think once he does we should have him look in the mirror so he can see his own red eyes.”Kate suggested.

“I like that idea.”Didyme would like to see Carlisle’s despair at seeing the results of breaking his diet.

“Until then let’s rewatch the beatings.”Sulpicia suggested.

“That sounds like fun.”Irina would never pass up the chance to see Esme being tortured.

“It does.”Rosalie agreed. Tightening her arms around Bella Rosalie thought about everything they talked about. To find out the kings were planning on most likely killing them was surprising. She wondered if Carlisle knew that. The way he had always referred to the kings as his friends meant that he most likely didn’t. Not that it mattered. The kings were dead. Killed by the Denali. The Denali that also killed an army of newborns and fought the wolves. Fought the wolves and won. Rosalie didn’t even think the Cullens could have come out of a fight with them without casualties. Knowing that she was a member of their coven made Rosalie feel a lot safer in the world. Ever since she had been turned she never felt completely safe and was constantly looking over her shoulder. Knowing that the Denali were more than capable to deal with any threat that came to them made it so she could finally relax. Well she would finally relax when Carlisle was dead. Something that was going happen soon. Kissing Bella’s hair Rosalie focused on the screen in front of her. She may not be able to kill Carlisle but she was going to watch the replay once it was over. Maybe she would give Bella a list of things she wanted done to him. It wouldn’t be as good as doing it herself but at least she would be involved somehow.
