Silver Assassin 16

“What does it feel like knowing that Bella is alive after thinking she was dead all these years?”Irina asked Rosalie. The pair along with Kate and Tanya were taking advantage of the bad weather and exploring the city around the castle. They weren’t alone as 8 guards had been assigned to them for protection. It made Irina somewhat uncomfortable but she figured that she would have to get used to it. The queen had made it clear that she wanted them safe so that they would be friends with Bella. Bella who had randomly left them in the arcade without telling anyone where she was going. When questioned about it Jane had told them not to worry about it that Bella was probably just feeling overwhelmed and needed a break. Knowing her history all three of the sisters had understood and decided to visit the city while Bella went off to do her own thing.

“I honestly still can’t believe it.”Rosalie told her. She was a little upset that Bella ended their time together so abruptly. Rosalie wished that Bella had invited her to go with her when she left or at least told her where she was going or when she was coming back. That didn’t happen though and Rosalie didn’t like that she had no way of getting in touch with Bella. She was going to ask to speak to Queen Didyme later about getting a new cell phone. Hers was on the Cullen’s plan and Rosalie didn’t want to be attached to them anymore. That and she figured the Volturi had much better technology than the public when it came to cell phones.

“I don’t think I would believe it either. I’m honestly surprised that you didn’t go insane when you were told she died.”Tanya didn’t think she would have lasted 50 yrs thinking her mate was dead. She didn’t think many would.

“I think the fact that I never got closure from it was the reason I held on. In the back of my mind I always hoped that Bella was out there and the fact that her body was supposedly burned to ash in the car fire never satisfied my vampire side. I think the only thing that would have made me accept her death was seeing her dead body.”Rosalie had come up with many different scenarios for what had happened to Bella. The truth being something she had never would have thought of.

“That makes sense.”Irina could easily see a vampire refusing to accept their human mate’s death without proof.

“What I want to know is what do you think about her being the Silver Assassin?”Kate asked.

“It was a shock when I realized that Bella had turned into the Assassin. When Bella was human she was shy and very sweet. She went out of her way to help others and hated any kind of conflict. I remember one time that Emmett went to kill a spider and Bella stopped him and made him capture it and release it outside. She didn’t think it was right to kill an innocent bug. That’s how sensitive she was.”Rosalie had remembered laughing when she watched Emmett cradle the spider in his hands and bring it to the forest outside their house and put it in a tree.

“And now she is a ruthless killer who holds no remorse for her victims.”Irina said.

“After what she went through the fact that she is only focused on lawbreakers is admirable. I bet without her familiar bond with the king and queen and the mate bond with Jane she would have probably gone on a rampage after she was turned and destroyed everything and everyone in her path.”Tanya thought without direction Bella would have been as volatile as an immortal child.

“Even with that support she still has outbursts. Jane told me that in the beginning of their relationship that Bella attacked her constantly. It took years before she allowed her or the king and queen to hug her.”Rosalie had been lucky so far but that was because she had been careful.

“That must have been hard on them.”Kate couldn’t imagine how it would feel to be attacked by your bond mate.

“I’m told it’s hardest on Bella.”Seeing the confused expressions Rosalie explained.”I’m told that she doesn’t have control over herself when she is triggered. All her instincts are just focused on eliminating the threat. She doesn’t even recognize the person she is attacking. Then once it’s over she becomes overwhelmed with guilt and shame.”

“I didn’t even think of that.”Irina had only thought of how much it would hurt Jane and the royals not how it would affect Bella.

“Poor Bella.”The girl’s mind was fractured so it was no surprise to Tanya that she was able to overcome the bonds to hurt her parents and mate. The fact that she felt such remorse for it made Tanya’s heart break for Bella. She couldn’t imagine what Bella must go through every time she lost control.

“How is your relationship going so far?”Kate asked.

“When I talked to Queen Didyme, King Marcus and Jane they gave me a bunch of warnings that had me thinking that Bella wouldn’t want anything to do with me. I didn’t expect her to even be willing to touch me and just hoped to be acknowledged in some way. That isn’t what happened though. The first time we hung out she not only let me go into her arcade but she let me help clean the machines. That being something Jane said that she rarely allows others to do. If that wasn’t surprising enough Bella actually played music that we used to listen to together when she was human.”Rosalie told them.

“She played music from her human life?”Irina wouldn’t have thought that Bella would have wanted any reminder of her human life.

Rosalie nodded.”Not only that but after I spoke to Emmett, Bella let me help her with machines again. When Jane left us alone Bella had me pick out the music. I found an entire playlist dedicated to important moments of her human life that I was involved with.”

“Jane said she had feelings for you when she was human but what stopped her from pursuing you?”Tanya asked.

“Apparently she tried to talk to me about it numerous times but Alice had seen and stopped it from happening. From what she showed Jane Bella knew that she wasn’t Edward’s mate and was trying to figure out why they were lying to her. I think that if we had actually stayed in Forks she would have broken up with him.”At least that’s what Rosalie had concluded from everything she had found out since reuniting with Bella.

“It’s bad she didn’t. Then you would have had a chance to save her from the nomad.”Irina wished that Bella had had the chance to break up with Edward. It would changed everything and Bella likely would have been a very happy, even mannered vampire.

“I’ll never forgive myself for leaving her unprotected.”Rosalie would live with that guilt for the rest of eternity.

“It wasn’t your fault. It was Edward, Carlisle, Alice, Jasper and Esme’s. They were the ones who supported the false claim.”Tanya had no doubt that all five of them played equal roles in what happened to Bella.

”What I don’t get though is why did Carlisle actually allow you to leave her behind. Bella had a gift when she was a human.With Carlisle’s want to overthrow the Volturi wouldn’t he want her for your coven?”Kate couldn’t understand why Carlisle hadn’t turned Bella himself.

“Edward has always been and always will be his favorite. He would do anything to make him happy. I had heard the family speak about how valuable Bella would be when turned. Edward would argue with them about him not wanting to damn her soul. It’s my belief that Carlisle was going to stage an accident and claim that the only way of saving Bella was to turn her. Victoria just got to her before he could act.”Rosalie knew that they would eventually go back to Bella. She was too valuable for them to leave behind.

“What was everyone’s reaction when they heard of her death?”Irina wondered how Bella’s death effected everyone.

“How we found out is one of the reasons I know they were going back for her.”Rosalie said.

“What do you mean?”Tanya asked.

“When we left Edward made it very clear that no one should contact Bella. He made Alice promise not to check in on her anymore. Usually Alice would go along with Edward’s plans. When she came to us and said that Bella’s future disappeared it confirmed that she was still keeping an eye on her even though she promised she wouldn’t.”Rosalie explained.

“What happened when she told everyone?”Kate asked.

“Edward screamed and sobbed and was overly dramatic. Carlisle was pissed but was trying to hide it. Esme locked herself in her office claiming that she needed privacy to deal with the loss of her daughter. Alice tried to comfort Edward and Jasper didn’t say anything. He just used his gift to try and calm everyone down.”Rosalie told them.

“What did you do?”Irina didn’t think Rosalie reacted well to learning her mate was dead.

“At first I was numb. My mind just wouldn’t process that my mate was actually dead. Once the shock whore off I attacked Edward. Emmett helped and together we took one of his arms and both his legs before we were pulled off him by Jasper, Alice and Carlisle. Carlisle forced me to apologize to Edward and then confined me to my room. I stayed there for over a month before I was allowed out. I think the only reason it wasn’t longer is because he was afraid if I didn’t hunt soon that I would become overwhelmed with blood lust.”Rosalie had been very close to losing control when she was finally released.

“He is such a bastard.”Kate was going to enjoy beating on the man when she got her chance.

“When you first contacted me I was hesitant to get involved but after everything we have learned since I came to the castle to report Carlisle it makes me happy that I was the one who gave the kings what they needed to finally deal with him and the others.”The only regret Tanya had about the whole situation was that she hadn’t been able to act before the nomad got her hands on Bella.

“I wish we could watch their trial.”Irina wanted to see what kind of defense Carlisle would have to the crimes he was accused of committing.

“I want to as well but since Carlisle is my sire it wouldn’t be safe for me to be there.”Rosalie wished she could. It would be nice to see her tormentors finally be held responsible for their crimes.

“Are you going to be able to watch the tournament?”Kate asked.

“Jane told me Bella will be shielding me the whole time. Carlisle won’t even know I’m there.”Rosalie was happy that she would at least be able to see them die.

“I’m completely in awe of Bella’s gift.”Tanya said.

“Do any of the Cullens know that the Silver Assassin is Bella?”Irina asked.

Rosalie shook her head.”The only people who know are us, the royals, Jane and Alec.”

“Do you think she will tell them before she kills them?”If it was Kate she would want them to know.

“I don’t know. Bella really doesn’t want anyone to know who she is. She would have to show them proof meaning she would have to take off her mask to see her face. That being something I’m told Bella doesn’t allow anyone to see other than Jane.”Rosalie was somewhat jealous that Jane had seen Bella’s body and she hadn’t even been trusted enough to see more than her hands. She knew it would take time to earn Bella’s trust but it was frustrating to not be on the same level as Bella’s other mate.

“Jane said that Bella was horribly disfigured. It makes me wonder exactly what she looks like.”Irina was very interested in seeing exactly what happened to Bella.

“If she refuses to show her parents I doubt she will show you.”Rosalie was positive Bella wouldn’t.

“I guess we will have to wait and see.”Tanya was just as curious as Irina but wouldn’t push Bella to do anything she didn’t want to do.

“Well I hope she does. That way Carlisle gets to see what a huge mistake he made leaving her behind. If he had turned her he would have been able to easily overthrow the Volturi. Instead he made himself a deadly enemy.”Kate knew that if he found out Bella’s identity Carlisle would be furious that he let her slip through his fingers.

“Maybe if Bella can shield me from the tournament then she could shield me in the throne room so I can watch the trial.”Rosalie would ask Jane about it next time she saw her.

“If you get to go do you think we would be able to?”Kate asked.

“I bet if you asked the queen she would give you permission.”From what Rosalie was told the queen would do anything to make Kate and her sisters happy. Being in the throne room for the trial wouldn’t be that much to ask for.

“We will ask her when we get back to the castle.”Tanya wanted to be at the trial just as much as the others.

“Speaking of getting back to the castle. It looks things are closing for the day.”Irina said.

“Yeah let’s go back. I want to talk to the queen before the trial so we don’t miss out.”Kate didn’t want to miss her chance.

“I want to see if Bella wants to hang out.”Rosalie missed Bella and wanted to spend more time with her. After thinking she was dead this whole time it made her somewhat panicky being away from her. In the back of her mind Rosalie was still afraid that Bella would be taken from her again. She hoped that when Carlisle and the others were dead that the fear would lessen. She didn’t expect it to go away completely. To much time had passed with her thinking that she would be never have a chance to be with Bella for her to ever feel secure enough to get over it. Not that it truly mattered. Rosalie was going to cherish every moment she got with Bella. Following the guards and the sisters back to the castle Rosalie just hoped that Bella would be willing to see her soon so they could have some more of those moments.
