“That was very nice of you to help us all talk to our friends and family.”Rosalie told Bella.She was driving the human home.Rosalie had been happy that she had gotten to stay by Bella’s side the whole day and was trying to figure out how to get invited in to Bella’s house.Nothing she could come up with was good enough to deserve an invitation and she was honestly worried that if she didn’t go home right away Irina would show up.Not that she particularly cared what Irina thought Rosalie just didn’t want to deal with the drama.

“Yeah, that’s me super nice.”Bella said sarcastically.

“Do you hate your gift?”Rosalie had noticed that Bella never spoke about her abilities in a positive way.

”Sometimes I hate it so much when I go to bed at night I pray that I don’t wake up.”Bella told her not understanding why she was being so honest with Rosalie.

Rosalie inhaled quickly hearing that.”Do you want to die?”

“I don’t know.”Bella replied honestly.”I don’t want to kill myself if that’s what you mean.”

“That’s good to hear but why do you want to die?”Rosalie was happy it seemed Bella wasn’t suicidal but her wanting to die was very concerning.

“I know that for you my gift allowed you a positive experience but to me every time someone comes to me they are dead.My life revolves around death.Ever since I was a small child the dead have visited me.Not every visitor is kind and gentle.They are mostly demanding and care little about me personally.”Bella told her.

Rosalie hadn’t really thought about that.She felt ashamed for just thinking about all the good Bella did not what kind of toll it had on Bella herself.”I can see how that could wear on you.”

“I saw my first dead body when I was 13 years old.A man came to me in the middle of the night to tell me that he and his wife were hiking on some local trails and had gotten lost.He had tried to get help but fell off a cliff and died on impact.I didn’t want to be involved and told him to leave me alone.He spent three hours screaming at the top of his dead lungs until I finally got out of bed at 3am and hiked in the dark with him leading me to guide his wife to safety.We passed his body on the way.You can imagine what kind of state it was in from falling so high.”Bella still had nightmares about that.

“Jesus.”Rosalie muttered.She couldn’t even begin to imagine how that would effect a 13yr old.

“That’s just one story.They come to me all the time.Never leave me alone.In my last school everyone thought I was crazy because they would pester me all throughout my day until I at least acknowledged them.My mother put me in therapy.I was smart enough even at a young age to realize that I had to lie or I would be put in the looney bin locked up for the rest of my life.”Bella said.

“Did you ever tell anyone?”Rosalie asked.

“When I was little I wanted them to leave me alone.I went to my mother and asked her how she got the dead people to stop visiting.She laughed at me and told me to stop screwing around.I knew she didn’t believe me so I never brought it up again.”Bella told her.

“So there was no one else?”Rosalie now understood why Bella was so afraid of her and her siblings.

Bella shook her head.”No,I knew it wasn’t normal and I didn’t want people to know.”

“You must be lonely.”Rosalie mused.

“Sometimes I am.”Bella confirmed.

“You have me now.”Rosalie said.

“Yeah I guess I do.”Bella had come to the conclusion that Rosalie wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.It made her almost want to try and have a friendship with the blond.

Rosalie pulled the car into Bella’s driveway.”Give me your phone.”

“Why?”Bella handed the device to Rosalie.

“I’m giving you my number.”Rosalie put her number in and texted herself.”And now I have yours.”

“Does this mean you are going to bother me all the time now?”Bella joked.

“Definitely.” Rosalie told her.

“Just promise you won’t give it to anybody.Your family is cool but they are a little intense.”Bella said.

“Trust me I won’t.”Rosalie was very pleased that Bella only wanted her to have her number.”When do you want to leave to help Ralph?”

“I don’t know how comfortable I feel with everyone coming with me.”Bella would prefer going by herself.

“I know but there is no way they are going to let you go without them.”Rosalie wanted to offer just her going but knew that Tanya and Irina wouldn’t let themselves be left behind.

“I kind of guessed.”Bella grumbled.

“They do mean well.”Rosalie told her.

”If we are all going can you make sure that you and I have a seat next to each other?”Bella felt the most comfortable with Rosalie.

Rosalie didn’t even try to hide her bright smile.”I promise that you and I will sit next to each other.”

“Thank you Rosalie.”Bella said.

“I assure you it’s no problem.”Rosalie couldn’t wait to rub it in everyone’s face that Bella wanted to sit next to her.

“I guess I should go in now.”As Bella opened the car door she was surprised to feel a little sad that her time with Rosalie was coming to an end.Stepping out she leaned her head back in.”Maybe you could text me later?”

“I would love to.”Rosalie definitely was going to text her mate.

“Goodnight Rosalie.”Bella shut the door and waved.

“Goodnight.”Rosalie replied with a wave of her own.She sat in the car and waited for Bella to make it into the house.Once the front door closed she pulled out of the driveway and began to drive back home.Talking to Bella had brought about a new insight to what her mate went through and Rosalie wasn’t sure exactly what to think.When she had first learned of Bella she had been concerned for the girl but mostly because she was likely to get caught.She was ashamed to admit she never really focused on what it must be like to experience exactly what Bella did.As she pulled into her own driveway she promised herself to get Bella to talk more about how her gift affected her personally.It was obvious Bella needed someone to talk to and Rosalie wanted to be that person.
