“I am an officer of the law!!You can’t do this to me!!”Edward jumped up from his place sitting on the ground when he heard the human male call out and rushed to the bars of his cell.He, Carlisle and Esme had been in the dungeon for at least a week and this was the first time they saw another person in that time.Not having any guards or visitors had put a damper on their escape plans as they had no information to work from.They had tried calling out to get the attention of anyone but their pleas were ignored.

“Who is coming?”Carlisle asked.

“I’m not sure.There are at least two humans.”Edward tried to focus on the thoughts of not only the humans but the guards escorting them as well but didn’t get any clue as to who the new people were.It was when the doors to the dungeon opened that Edward saw Charlie Swan.”Chief Swan?”

Charlie looked to the voice who called out his name and seeing who it was he made a move to rush Edward’s cell.”You!!!I should have known this had something to do with you!!”

“This has nothing to do with me.”Edward told him.

“Then why would we be here?If not for you and your twisted family.”Charlie spat out.He tried to fight off the man holding him but Charlie wasn’t strong enough.Charlie grunted as he was thrown to the floor and the cell door was closed and locked.When the guard walked away he called out.”I demand to know why you have kidnapped us!!”

“Charlie what happened?”Carlisle asked.

“I don’t know.One second I was out driving on patrol the next I’m knock out.I woke up with a bag over my head and after a couple hours I was brought here with Rene.”Charlie looked over at his ex-wife who was curled up on the floor of her cell sobbing and shook his head.

“Did they say anything to you?”Edward was searching through Charlie’s mind trying to see the memory of what happened to hopefully find some clues as to why he was kidnapped.

Charlie shook his head.”No one has said a thing to either of us.”

“Do you think the kings kidnapped them to eliminate any competition for Bella’s affections?”Carlisle asked.

“I wouldn’t put it past them.”Edward could easily believe the kings would want to kill Bella’s parents as a way to control her.

“Wait this has to do with Bella?”Rene suddenly felt very afraid.

“Yes, it does.”Edward suddenly grew very suspicious.”Why what do you know?”

“Nothing, I don’t know a thing.”Rene quickly denied.

Charlie turned his attention to Rene.”What did you do?”

“I didn’t do anything.”Rene once again denied.

Edward was suddenly overwhelmed with Rene’s memories of the many times she and her friends abused Bella.Overcome with rage he charged at the bars of his cell.”I’ll kill you!!”

“What is going on Edward?”Carlisle asked concerned with how angry his son was.

“She hurt Bella.”Edward told him.”She and her friends took turns inflicting as much pain as they could on her.”

Esme put her hand over her mouth in shock.”How could you?”

“I only did what that bitch deserved.”Rene spat out.

“You fucking idiot.You are the reason we were brought here!!”Charlie yelled.

“Like you were any better!”Rene yelled back.

“I never hit her.”Charlie hoped that would be what saved him from whoever had kidnapped them.

Edward searched Charlie’s mind to see what he was talking about and was appalled at the way Charlie had spoken to Bella.”I’m going to kill you as soon as I am out of this cell.”

“I doubt you are in the position to make threats.What did you do to get put in here?”Charlie asked.

“I did nothing wrong.I was falsely accused.Once Bella is ready she will have us released.”Edward knew the his mate was working on a way to get him, Carlisle and Esme let go.Caius’ may have thought Bella had accepted the bond with him and the queen but Edward knew Bella was just biding her time.

“You honestly believe Bella is going to save you?”Charlie scoffed at the very idea.

“Of course she is.Well that is if I can’t get out of here and save her first.”Edward would prefer being the one to save Bella but as time went on he was beginning to realize it was likely impossible for him to break out of his cell.

“Who are these people Bella has gotten herself mixed up with?”Rene had no delusions that she would be saved.If it was up to Bella Rene knew that her daughter would happily see her locked up for the rest of her life.

“You have gotten yourself mixed up with the Vampire royals.”Carlisle told them.

“Vampires?”Charlie laughed.When the others didn’t he became concerned.”You don’t honestly think I will believe vampires are real?”

“I assure you that we are very real.”Carlisle ran back and forth as quickly as he could in his cell.

Rene backed herself as far as she could from Carlisle.”What the fuck!!”

“You have got to be kidding me.”Charlie was beyond shocked.He thought that he had been kidnapped by the mob not by vampires.

“We are not kidding you.”Edward said.

“How is Bella mixed up with all this?”Rene couldn’t figure that part out.

Charlie pointed at Edward.“She dated that douche bag.”

“I am not a douche bag.”Edward was insulted Charlie would call him such a vile thing.

“As it’s obvious you aren’t friends with them how did Bella meet the kings?”Rene asked.

“I made a mistake that brought Bella here to save my life.Unfortunately because of her gift the kings took interest in Bella and have filled her head with lies.”Edward told them.

“What are you talking about?”Charlie didn’t understand half of what Edward was saying.”What gift does Bella have?”

“Some vampires and humans have supernatural abilities.Edward has the ability to hear the thoughts of others.Bella is a shield that is immune to all mental influence.”Carlisle explained.

“That’s how you knew about what I did.”Rene had wondered how Edward had known of her misdeeds.

“Yes, my gift is extremely powerful.No one has ever been able to get past it.That is why Bella is so special.What she can do is unheard of and her still being human will make her much more powerful if she were to be turned into a vampire.”Edward explained.

“Bella is going to become a vampire?”Charlie asked.

“Of course not.I would never damn my mate’s soul.Bella will stay human and live a long happy life.I just have to free her to ensure it.”Edward hoped that Bella was able to stall the Volturi’s plans to change her.He didn’t want her to have to become a monster.

“So what’s your plan then?”Charlie wanted to know if it was actually feasible to escape.

“I haven’t finalized everything yet.”Edward grudgingly admitted.

Charlie laughed.”That means you don’t have one.”

“I have one.”Edward told him.”I just don’t think it’s a good idea to speak about it out loud.”

“Fine you have one.How do we help you so we can get out of here as well?”Charlie knew they had no chance of ever leaving this place so he would gladly take whatever chance he could get to break out.Even if that meant aligning himself with an idiot.

Edward thought about how to use the humans.He didn’t particularly want to keep both of Bella’s parents alive because of what they did to his love but they could be useful. Especially if he sacrificed them.”We will need to wait until the guards visit us again.I don’t know what the royals plan to do with any of us.Depending on what happens to each us will determine what kind of options we have of escape.”

“Like I said you don’t have a plan.”Charlie rolled his eyes at himself for believing that even with a gift Edward would be smart enough to get them out of this.

“I have a working plan.”Edward growled.”It’s not like you could do any better.”

“Oh I know I couldn’t.”Charlie agreed.

“Then why are you putting down my ideas?!!”Edward asked in frustration.

“Became they aren’t actually ideas.You are just stating facts.If you actually had a plan we would be figuring out who needs to do what.I don’t have any clue where we are, who the enemy is, what they are capable of or the best way to get out of this place which I’m assuming is some kind of castle.Hell I don’t even what country we are in.I thought that you would have at least some knowledge of that.”Charlie told him.

Edward was embarrassed that he hadn’t taken into consideration any of the things Charlie pointed out.”Well with Carlisle’s help we can map out the castle layout and the city around it.As for the capability of the guard we have most of them identified.”

“Good now we can begin making a plan.”Charlie wasn’t going to allow himself to feel hopeful that they could get out of this situation until he heard all of the facts.He was a human in a place full of who knew how many vampires.That didn’t bode well for him as a human but he hoped that he could figure out a way to use it to his advantage. Rene was worthless in his eyes so he wouldn’t mind using her as bait to lure the vampires away from him.He had no love for the woman and would be happy to see her die.The only problem he saw was asking about how to do that without Rene hearing him.As Edward and his father began drawing a map on the dirt floor Charlie felt a little more hopeful.Maybe with the help of these morons he could get out of this because Bella sure as hell wasn’t going to save him.
