Sight Unseen 17

“Hey Bella.”Alice greeted when she sat next to the human at their table in biology class.Rosalie had briefed her and Emmett on what had happened with Tanya and Alice was having a hard time holding back all the questions she had for Bella.Learning that Bella had talked to Tanya’s sire and facilitated a conversation between the two vampires made Alice even more curious about Bella’s gift.She wanted to know if Bella could contact anyone or if the ghosts just randomly reached out to her.If she could contact anyone Alice wondered if Bella would be able to reach out to one of Alice’s family members so she could learn about what her human life was like.As she didn’t know anything about it it would be nice for Alice to talk to one of her parents.

“Hi Alice.”Bella replied.She sighed in relief when the bell rang and the teacher immediately began class because that would stop Alice from being able to talk to her. It was fifteen minutes of smooth sailing when Bella’s hope for an uneventful day was dashed.

“Bella quick!!She’s making a run for it!!”Ralph yelled in Bella’s face as he appeared in front of her suddenly.

“Ahhh.”Bella screamed as she fell back into her chair causing it to fall backwards only to be caught by a worried looking Alice.

“Bella are you ok?”Alice asked.

Bella blushed as she looked around and noticed everyone staring at her with a few laughing.”I’m fine.”

“Ms.Swan are you alright?”The teacher asked seeming concerned.

“Actually would you mind if I went to the bathroom please?”Bella needed to get out of the room because Ralph didn’t look like he was going to leave her alone.

“Bella hurry.”Ralph’s voice was pleading making Bella feel worried for the man.

“Go ahead.”The teacher said.

“Thank you sir.”Bella rushed out of the room and ducked into the first empty room she found which happened to be the janitor’s closet.

“Bella you need to act fast.My wife is planning on leaving the country.”Ralph told her.

“What do you mean she’s leaving the country?”Bella asked.Before Ralph could answer the door to the room opened revealing not only Alice but Emmett and Rosalie as well. The room wasn’t large so it was a tight fit when all of them squeezed in it with Bella closing the door behind them.”What the hell are you guys doing here?”

“We came to help.”Rosalie had heard Bella scream and had quickly gotten excused from class to find Bella. She was panicked until Alice told them what happened and even though she knew Bella didn’t want her there she wasn’t leaving her mate alone to deal with whatever was happening.

“Yeah we didn’t want you to have to deal with this by yourself.”Emmett said.

Ralph was running his hands through his hair.“It doesn’t matter Bella.She’s leaving.You have got to stop her!!”

“So I take it your wife was the one who had you killed?” Bella would ignore the Cullens for now as she had more important things to deal with.

“Yeah she was working with my business partner.It was like you said.Once they found my body they started to panic. I overheard them on a call and when it was over my wife started packing.I have the evidence you need to prove she was working with my partner but it won’t matter if she leaves.”Ralph explained.

“Ok so we need to make a plan.”Bella thought for a minute and turned her attention to the others in the room with her.”Would you guys mind taking me home?I can’t help Ralph at school and it’s time sensitive.”

“Yeah we will take you to our house.We already have everything set up to help with the case.”Rosalie was happy that Bella was comfortable enough to ask them for help.

Bella thought about whether that was a good idea or not.Coming to the conclusion it would be better to work there than at home she accepted the offer.”That’s fine.”

“I’ll go get your stuff and tell the teacher you are unwell.”Alice said.

“I’ll get my stuff and meet you at the car.”Emmett excitedly followed after Alice.This was his chance to help solve a crime with Bella like he always wanted.

“Come on let’s go bring Emmett’s jeep around.”Rosalie motioned for Bella to go before her.Emmett and Alice were already at the jeep before they made it there.She would have to remind her siblings to act more human around Bella as to not freak her out.Everyone piled in and Rosalie wasted no time getting them going.

“Can’t they drive faster?”Ralph asked impatiently from his seat in-between Rosalie and Bella.

“They are going as fast as they can.”Bella told him.

“Is the ghost talking to you right now?”Emmett asked.

Bella nodded.”Yeah he is very concerned his wife is going to flee the country before the police can arrest her.”

“We are almost to our house.”Rosalie stepped on the gas peddle a little harder understanding the seriousness of the situation.When they reached the driveway Rosalie suddenly remembered that the Denali were at the house.So it was no surprise when the three sisters met them on the front porch.

“Is that her?”Kate asked when she spotted Emmett’s jeep pulling up to the garage.

Tanya put her hand on Irina’s shoulder to keep her in place.”Stay put.”

“I need to go to her.”Irina said as the urge to take the human in her arms was overwhelming.Her eyes followed Bella’s every move as she got out of the jeep and made her way to the house.

Noticing the staring Alice stepped in to make introductions.”Bella this is Irina and Kate.Irina, Kate this is Bella.”

“Nice to meet you Bella.”Kate greeted happily.She hadn’t expected to meet her niece so soon but was happy that it worked out that way.

“Nice to meet you to Kate.I’ve heard a lot about you three.”Bella stopped herself from saying to much.

“You have, like what?”Irina asked.

“Bella seriously, we need to move.”Ralph pleaded.

“I would love to tell you but we have some important business to deal with first.”Bella said.

“Oh yeah right this way Bella.”Rosalie led Bella into the house and brought her to the wall of her cases. She pointed to the one that involved the hitman.”This is what we have gotten so far from your case.”

“That isn’t a lot.”Bella turned her attention to Ralph.”Now tell me what evidence you got.”

“What’s going on?”Tanya asked as she stood with her mate, Kate, Alice and Emmett while they watched Bella seeming to have a one sided conversation with herself and Rosalie wrote things on a white board.

“There has been progress in the hitman case and Bella has been talking to the ghost.”Alice told them.

“What kind of progress?”Irina hadn’t taken her eyes off of Bella since she saw the girl in the jeep.She was beautiful with her brown red highlighted hair and chocolate colored eyes.Now that she had her in her presence Irina didn’t know how she was ever going to let Bella leave.

“Apparently the guy’s wife and his business partner were the culprits and now the wife is making a run for it.”Emmett explained.

“This is so awesome.”Kate mumbled.She hadn’t expected the first time she met Bella that they would be working on a case.Kate could barely contain her excitement at the situation.”What can we do to help?”

“Well right now Bella is getting all the information from the guy and then we are going to make a plan.”Alice said.

Noticing Rosalie had stopped writing Tanya stepped forward.”What are we dealing with?”

“A safe deposit box full of evidence, a suspect fleeing, an affair, embezzlement, betrayal and murder.”Rosalie listed off.

“Ok so how do we catch the bad guy?”Emmett asked.

“I sent Ralph to observe his business partner because all he has focused on up til now is his wife. We have enough information that we can pass on to the police that they would go after the wife but the problem is she is fleeing.”Bella told them.

“How do we stop her from leaving?”Kate was already going through plans including her kidnapping the woman and handing her over to police.

“No fly list.”Bella said.

“What does that mean?”Irina asked.

“We have to get her on the no fly list.”Bella explained.

Tanya wasn’t sure how they would be able to do that.”How do we do that?”

“I just need to borrow a computer and hack into the TSA.”Bella said like it was no big deal to flag someone as a potential terrorist.

“You can use mine.It’s in my room.”Rosalie figured it would give her a chance to have a few minutes alone with Bella.

“Thanks.”Bella wasn’t keen on going to Rosalie’s room but they needed to act fast and she was a guest in their home so it wasn’t like she could make demands.

“Are we really letting a teenager hack a government website?”Irina asked after she heard the door to Rosalie’s room close.

“I think it’s freakin cool that she can.”Kate was already planning on having Bella teach her how to do it.

“It’s not happening Kate.”Tanya easily caught on to Kate’s scheme.”You don’t need to have access to any government website.”

“The other night she hacked the DMV.I wonder what else she has done.”Emmett was of the same thought as Kate. He wanted Bella to teach him how to hack the government.

Tanya rubbed her forehead convinced she was getting a headache.”Are you telling me that my child regularly breaks the law?”

“Well if you want to get technical then yes she does.I will however point out that she does it for a good reason.”Alice pointed to the wall.”I mean you have seen how many cases she has solved.”

“Yes we have.That is something all of us need to discuss.Bella may have been doing this by herself but I’m not going to let her be involved with any of these crimes alone anymore. It’s to dangerous for a human.Not only could the police get involved but dangerous people could come after her.I will not allow that to happen.”Irina would protect her daughter at all cost.

“I won’t either.”Tanya said.

“The problem is that Bella only allowed us to help this time because she needed a ride and it was time sensitive.She didn’t look that happy to see us when we ambushed her in the closet.”Alice had seen the wariness on Bella’s face when they had opened the closet door.

Irina growled.”Why did you ambush my child in a closet?”

“It wasn’t like that.She had an outburst in class and we were worried about her.When we found her she was in the janitor’s closet.”Emmett explained.

“Well then thank you for looking after Bella.”Irina would have preferred to be the one to take care of Bella but if she couldn’t be there then at least the Cullens could look after her.

“Rosalie said something about a safe deposit box full of evidence.Does that mean we are going to have break into a bank to access it?”Kate would be happy to volunteer for that mission if they had to. She always wanted to rob a bank. Tanya had kept her from doing it though.

“We aren’t breaking into a bank.”Tanya told her, although in the back of her mind she wondered if they were going to have to. She wasn’t sure how they would go about it if they did.

“Why don’t we wait until Bella tells us what is going on to make a plan.”Irina figured that Bella would have more detailed information that they could work from.

“I still want to know how she hacked the TSA.”Kate mumbled as she went back to looking at the wall.She was getting impatient waiting for Bella to get finished with Rosalie and hoped that Rosalie wouldn’t try and keep Bella in her room for a while.It wouldn’t be surprising if the blond did it would just be disappointing because they were finally having some fun.Now if they could actually break into a bank that would make this whole experience that much better.
