“What do you mean you don’t know when they are going to attack?!!”Edward demanded as he paused mid pacing in the living room of the Cullen’s home in Forks.His entire family was there along with his human mate Britney. The group were discussing the fact that the mate of a vampire they killed was forming an army of newborns to kill the whole coven in her need for revenge.They had been training with the wolves and had been relying on Alice’s visions for help so the fact that those visions had suddenly changed was very concerning.

“I mean that the initial vision I had of the fight is gone.When I look into the future it’s blank.Not even our futures are set anymore.”Alice wasn’t happy about this development because she counted on her visions to keep her family safe.

“Wait our futures are gone as well?”Sara, Emmett’s mate asked.

Alice nodded.”I get nothing after the original date I saw the fight happening. All the visions have stopped.”

“Does that mean we are all going to die?”Emmett asked.

“I don’t know.It’s never happened to me before.”Alice said.

Jasper sent waves of love towards Alice when he felt her self loathing.“It’s alright love, no one blames you for this.”

“Like hell we don’t!!” Edward screeched.He flinched back when Jasper was suddenly in his face.

“It is not Alice’s fault things have changed.You will show her some respect or I will make you!”Jasper threatened.

“Alright everyone calm down.”Carlisle said as he laid a hand on Edward’s shoulder hoping to calm his son down. “We need to discuss this and getting upset with each other isn’t going to help.”

“Your father is right. With this new development we need to stick together now more than ever.”Esme agreed.

“So does this mean we are now going to be smart enough to contact the Volturi, Carlisle?”Rosalie asked ignoring the title Esme gave to her sire.He wasn’t her father. He was her kidnapper.Forcing her into a life she didn’t want and keeping her from going out on her own so that she could play her role in the happy family.

“We can’t do that Rosalie!” Edward told her. “They would kill all of us before we even got a chance to plead our case.”

“We won’t have any case to plead at all if all of us are dead.”Rosalie pointed out.

Edward scowled at her.”None of us are going to die.”

“Then why don’t we have any futures anymore?”Rosalie trusted Alice’s visions and that meant that something was coming for them.Something that could eliminate the whole coven and could catch them off guard.It would have to if it defeated them without at least someone getting away.

“There could be many reasons for that.Including one of the newborns having a gift that blocks Alice’s visions.”Carlisle said.

“The only people who can block Alice’s visions are the Volturi.”It was well known that the Volturi had recently acquired a vampire who could shield them from mental influence.Sara along with everyone else had been somewhat fearful of the new vampire because it took away the added layer of protection that Edward and Alice’s gifts gave them.

“That means the Volturi are likely involved.”Rosalie wouldn’t be surprised if the Volturi was letting this whole battle happen just to kill off a few of her coven. Their dislike of Carlisle was well known and they didn’t trust him not to plot a rebellion with the amount of gifted vampires he had collected.

“The Volturi aren’t involved and there isn’t any proof that they have a new gifted vampire.”Edward didn’t believe for a second they had a vampire powerful enough to block mental gifts.

“So how do you explain that when you went to kill yourself a few months ago that you couldn’t hear the thoughts of anyone in the throne room or that Alice didn’t have any visions of their involvement in the whole situation?”Rosalie was somewhat excited to hear what dumb ass reason Edward had made up for his failings.

“I was to focused on my grief and then my relief that Britney was alive to really pay attention.Then there was the starvation I felt from going so long without feeding.I wasn’t on top of my game so I of course missed their thoughts. As for Alice it’s obvious her gift isn’t that great if her visions have stopped.”Edward said.

Rosalie laughed at his stupidity.”So you believe it was because you were distracted that your gift didn’t work not because the rumors of a new member of the guard that renders you useless actually exists?”

“No one could render my gift useless.”Edward knew he was to powerful for anyone to block his gift.

“I don’t know I’m kind of with Rosalie on this one. It would make sense that your gift didn’t work because of a gifted vampire.Alice’s as well.I mean she has been alive a century and it has never failed her before.It’s to much of a coincidence.” Emmett could easily believe the Volturi recruited another member.

“Those same rumors claim that they have been raising a human child.”Edward pointed out.

“Whose to say they aren’t?”Sara wouldn’t put it past the kings to raise a child.Especially if the child was gifted.

“The very idea that the Volturi would put in the effort to keep any human alive let alone a child is ridiculous.They not only hate humans to much to keep one around but a child?No way.They would kill it when it annoyed them.”Edward knew the Volturi wouldn’t keep a human alive for that long.

“So the fact that the child is supposedly one of the kings’ bond child doesn’t mean anything?”Emmett asked.

Edward scoffed.“Like the kings are actually worthy enough to form a child bond.”

“So who would be worthy Edward?You?”Rosalie didn’t believe the kings were as bad as Carlisle and Edward made them out to be. If they truly had a child bond then Rosalie knew they would do everything they could to make sure the child was safe and happy.

“Of course I’m worthy. I expect to be granted many child bonds once my mate and I are married.”Edward said.

Emmett laughed.”Yeah because there is no way a person could have a child bond without being mated or before they were married.”

“God would not grant children to those who turn away from his teachings.”Edward told them.

“Regardless of whether anyone has a child bond or not we need to make a plan.”Carlisle needed to get them back on track not only because it was important but talking about child bonds made him uncomfortable. He and Esme had yearned for children and had hoped that with each added member of their family they would be blessed with a child bond. That it didn’t happen depressed both of them.

“I think we should still go off of the day Alice had the vision of the fight happening.As that is the last time she had seen anything it’s to reason that even if the newborns don’t attack then something else is coming.”Jasper said.

“Yeah the Volturi.”Emmett mumbled.

“Are you sure we shouldn’t contact the Denali?”Esme asked.

Carlisle shook his head.”We can’t.They are loyalist who will tell the Volturi as soon as we told them what was going on.”

“Maybe we should call them anyway and ask about the gifted guard member.If the vampire is as powerful as we believe then Eleazar most definitely was called to evaluate them.He could give us an insight to how the gift works.”Alice knew that if the Volturi accepted anyone new into the guard they would have called on Eleazar to test them.

“Even if he did know I doubt he would tell us. The Volturi like to brag about their gifted members. For some reason they don’t want people to know about this one.With all the secrecy I would be surprised if Eleazar was even brought in.”Rosalie said.

“That’s true.”Sara agreed.”If they have a new member and I believe they do then they really don’t want people knowing about them.It makes me wonder what is so important about this new vampire that they aren’t showing them off.”

“It could be the vampire wants privacy.”Jasper wasn’t sure that was it though.”I’m more inclined to believe they are preparing a big debut for them.Maybe even this upcoming battle with the newborns.”

“That’s terrifying to think about but it would explain my lack of visions.”Alice knew the Volturi liked to make statements and what better statement could they make by unleashing a new guard member on a bunch of law breakers.

“So that means we should be focusing our training on what we know of the Volturi guard.”Carlisle decided.

“Or we could call the Volturi and tell them what is going on so they don’t let loose some kind of horror upon us.”Rosalie wasn’t surprised when she was ignored and the others started planning amongst themselves.Her so-called family barely listened to her anyway.Her job in the coven was to look pretty and play the part of the bitchy blond.It wasn’t a hard role because she hated most of them. Rosalie wondered if she should just contact the Volturi herself.It wasn’t like Carlisle could really stop her and it would be better than being used as cannon fodder against the guard because Rosalie had no doubt that the Volturi were going to send people to take care of this situation.She was curious about the new vampire that was likely to come with them.Hopefully they were powerful enough to take out at least Carlisle and Edward.She wouldn’t be to sad if they got Esme and Britney as well.The world could do with two less spineless women who let their partners walk all over them.
