When Dawn Breaks 37

Bella held back a sigh as she took in the scene before her. After Emmett had caught up with her and Rosalie the trio made their way into the woods following the convoy until they stopped. After leaving behind four people who Bella was sure were all vampires the rest of the group took off into the wooded area. They were dressed in the same armor as the guards from the building that had been reinforced to make it harder for a shifter to tear them apart. Bella saw they were also carrying the guns with the darts Pasty's people found. This was all confirming the belief that they were going after more shifters.

"What do you want to do?" Rosalie asked. She was getting nervous just hiding in the tree line while the rest of the people had taken off already.

"Rosalie, you and I are going to go after the main group." Bella cut Emmett off before he could object." Emmett you have the most dangerous task."

"What ever you need you can count on me Bella." Emmett promised.

"Good. I'm pretty sure that they are going to be going after some more shifters. Because of this I think they won't be expecting vampires to be helping them."Bella said. "When Rosalie and I go after the main group there is probably going to be some kind of scuffle. I'm hoping it will cause the four vampires guarding the trucks to be distracted. When that happens I need you to attach the tracking devices to each vehicle. The most important one being the swat van."

"Got it." Emmett was trying to temper his excitement. He initially thought Bella was going to just take the trackers from him and make him go back to Gil's house and he wouldn't get to help with the mission. Now that he was not only involved but trusted to do something so important he didn't want to screw this up. He was determined to prove that he could be counted on for Bella. Not only to make her proud but because he was sure they would be involved in more of these type of situations and he didn't want to be left out in the future.

"Try to be as stealthy as you can but don't be afraid to defend yourself. The last thing we want is for you to get hurt. Use the comms if you run into any trouble." Bella told him. She felt confident that Emmett would take this seriously but was afraid something would go wrong. Luckily Rosalie and herself were fast so they could come help him out if needed. That is if they weren't involved with something themselves. "Let's go Rose."

Rosalie nodded and followed Bella out of the tree line taking one last look at Emmett. She really didn't want anything bad to happen to the brute but knew they needed the help and although he was a jokester she was confident that he would try his hardest to do his job. It was just what would happen if he was caught that worried her. They had trained with Jasper for the newborns but none of them were considered warriors. She had to convince herself Emmett would be fine and if not they would be able to help him so that she could focus on what Bella and herself had to do. It wouldn't be smart to be distracted when going into an unknown situation.

After over an hour of walking Bella grabbed Rosalie's arm and motioned for her to crouch down behind a fallen tree and put her finger up to her mask to warn Rosalie to be quiet. Bella then pointed to herself and then pointed forward. Rosalie nodded and crouched down further to be better hidden as Bella made her way forward. She wasn't happy her beloved was going without her but knew that Bella was better suited to do this kind of surveillance. Her eyesight was not only better but she was the fastest out of any of them when in human form. Sighing Rosalie scanned the area making sure no one was around as she tried to push her worry down for not only Emmett but Bella as well.

Bella slowly made her way through the forest trying hard not to make any noise. The reason she had stopped Rosalie was because she had heard the group start to break apart and fan out into different directions. Bella figured they were near the group's target and they were setting up to surround whatever that was to make sure it couldn't get away. She wanted to know exactly what it was that they were capturing before she involved Rosalie so they could make a proper plan. Bella feared if they were kidnapping shifters Rosalie would rush in to save them without any concern for tactics. Rosalie's big heart was something she loved but it could get them in trouble if they weren't careful.

Noticing one of the black clad figures had stopped Bella got as close as she could. The vampire pulled out their dart gun and started moving forward slowly. Bella was frustrated because she couldn't get closer to whatever they were doing without being seen. She took off to the right and thanked her luck that the other vampire next to the one she was following was far enough away that she could creep in-between them without being seen. Not waiting she moved forward to see exactly where they were going. Sounds of playful growls could be heard ahead of her and when she made it to the edge of a clearing she felt her rage build at the sight before her.

Playing in the clearing were a bunch of mountain lion shifters. Bella began to make her move to destroy all the vampires that came to capture her cousins when she realized that would probably get a lot of them hurt in the scuffle. Taking a deep breath she whispered as softly as she could into her comms. "I followed them to a clearing. They are after shifters." She paused for a second before deciding it was best to give Rosalie a warning as to what they were dealing with. "Rose they are mountain lion shifters."

"Those fuckers." Rosalie growled." What do you want to do?"

"Move in from the left and make your way towards the clearing. When you get there wait for my signal and then we move to attack. No matter what happens don't do anything until you hear my signal." Bella told her.

"Got it." Rosalie didn't sound happy but Bella needed to make sure they got all of them.

"And Rose, show no mercy." Bella knew she didn't have to tell Rosalie that but wanted to make sure she knew that there were going to be casualties.

Rosalie was beyond pissed. Not only were they taking shifters but they were taking mountain lion shifters. She felt protective of all shifters but had a special place in her heart for mountain lions. They were a big part of her love story with Bella after all. As she made her way to the clearing she had to stop herself from just rushing in to protect the defenseless shifters. Rosalie knew Bella had a plan and she would follow it but her mothering instincts were kicking in. She knew who the bad guys were and where to find them and it was taking everything inside her not to go all tornado of death, as Emmett liked to call what she did to the newborns and kill all of them.

Bella held her breath as she saw the vampires make their way into the clearing surrounding the shifters. Those who hadn't shifted shifted quickly and started putting up a fight. Screaming, growls and yelps of pain could be heard and Bella knew now was the time to make their move. "Now Rose."

Rosalie didn't need to be told twice. She ran into the clearing straight for a vampire that was in the process of clamping restraints on a young child in human form. Before the vampire even knew what happened his head had been removed and thrown to the side. Rosalie pulled the restraints off the child and moved onto the next man as shouting began. The attackers seemed to have finally realized that they had a fight on their hands. Looking over to Bella Rosalie watched in awe as her mate early dispatched the three vampires who attacked her. She had never seen Bella fight in human form before but as she saw Bella blur for a second around the three vampires and come into focus with just random body parts flung everywhere she wasn't worried about her love.

Bella plowed her way through four more vampires as she did a quick count of those that were left. Rosalie had taken out three and was in the middle of guarding a group of scared children in human form. The five remaining vampires seemed to finally realize they weren't going to be successful and took off back to the way they came.

"Stay with the shifters." Bella yelled as she took off after them not waiting for a reply from Rosalie. "Emmett they are coming your way. I'll be there before them so as soon as you see me attack the the vampires at the trucks."

"I didn't get the trackers on the trucks yet." Emmett told her, his voice quivering in barely concealed excitement.

"Doesn't matter no-one is leaving this area alive." Bella told him.

Emmett made his way closer to the trucks making sure to keep each of the four vampires in view. He knew that coming to Maine with Bella would be fun even if he would only get to use the spy equipment but now he was part of the action. He was happy he had a perfect memory because he knew he would be playing the upcoming events on a highlight reel in his mind just like he did with the newborn attack.

"Now Emmett." Bella's voice came over the comm.

Emmett reacted right away and rushed the closest vampire. Even though he would never admit it he was beyond thankful he trained with Jasper because if he hadn't he would have lost his head within seconds of the attack. As the other three came to join the fight Emmett knew he wouldn't be able to take care them himself but he wasn't worried. Bella wouldn't let anything happen to him and as one of the vampires head was suddenly missing Emmett knew that he was right to put his faith in Bella. With two of the vampires down and not wanting to be left out Emmett dogged the attack from the initial vampire and tore his arms off. The vampire screams of pain were cut short as Emmett removed his head.

"The others will be here in a second. Stay between them and the vehicles." Bella told him just as the remaining vampires came out of the forest. She didn't wait for Emmett's reply and just rushed towards the rest of the enemy. It didn't take long for her and Emmett to dispatch the vampires.

Emmett looked around proudly. Not only did he help save a bunch of shifters but he was The Great White Tiger’s back up. He may joke around about Bella being a shifter Jesus but as they met more people who knew of Bella's title he understood what a great honor it was to be in her presence. "Is that all of them?"

"Yes." Bella confirmed. "I need to get back to Rosalie but I need you to stay here and guard the vehicles. Start a fire and make sure you burn every body part here."

"On it Bella. What are you guys going to do?" Emmett asked.

"We are going to prepare for infiltrating the building because I fear we just kicked a hornet’s nest." Bella told him. Without explaining what she meant she started running back to Rosalie. They had little time to get a lot done because Bella knew as soon as whoever was in charge hadn't heard from their people they would start panicking.
