When Dawn Breaks Chapter 30

"Where the hell did you get all this stuff?" Charlie asked Bella as he looked through the boxes of security equipment they brought into Edward's former room now her and Rosalie's office. Esme had set it up with a desk complete with brand new computer, printer set up, a comfortable looking black desk chair, a brown leather couch, a table with chairs, various bulletin boards and white boards adorned the walls and near the corner was a tall cat tower were two kittens were napping in the sun shining on them.

"We didn't steal it." Bella told him. "We bought it in Seattle this morning. From a legitimate business."

Charlie blushed. "Of course you did. Sorry, it is just surprising you got all this stuff. Most of it is better than anything we have at the station and we have a swat team."

"I know you didn't mean anything by it." Bella reassured him. "This is some of the stuff we are taking with us to Maine when we leave tonight."

"So you have already decided to go?" Charlie asked. "Even though you said you would wait until you discussed it with me."

"Why don't you take a seat dad and we will explain everything. Then you will realize why there isn't any other choice but for us to go." Bella said motioning for Charlie to sit on the couch.

"I know you're worried Mr. Swan but Bella is the best person for this."Rosalie told him proudly. "Being the White Tiger gives her special abilities that make her body stronger, faster and just overall superior to any animal or human that has ever lived."

"I know, Billy told me. Bella can more protect herself and I understand that you can to because you are her imprint. I just don't like the idea of my daughter and her girlfriend running into a dangerous situation without any back up. I'm worried because I can't help with this. It scares me." Charlie admitted teary eyed. "Losing you scares me."

Bella sat on the couch and pulled Charlie into a hug. "That's why we are being as careful as possible. All the stuff we got today will help us stay safe. I wouldn't do anything dangerous enough to get me killed. I can promise you that I will come home."

"I'll be right there with her the entire time. I would lay down my life for Bella in a second. She won't be unprotected." Rosalie promised.

Charlie pulled out of the hug and wiped his eyes."Let me at least know the plan first. I want to know exactly what I'm freaking out about before you two leave."

"Everyone in the office so we can have our meeting." Rosalie called out to her family.

Emmett walked in wearing his new tactical outfit, followed by the rest of the Cullens and Charolette and Peter. "It's a good thing shit head had a big room or not everyone would fit in here with all this stuff."

"Emmett language." Esme scolded.

"How come Emmett gets cool clothes and we don't?" Alice asked as she took a seat at the table next to Carlisle and Peter.

Emmett patted himself on his bullet proof vest. "Because I'm a body guard. I need the cool stuff to protect Bella and Rosalie."

"Anyway." Rosalie said cutting off Alice's reply. "Here's what's going on. Young shifters are being kidnapped and held at a secured building where they are prepared to defend against humans and shifters if attacked by them. The problem is we don't know if they know about or are prepared for vampires. That is the reason that Bella and I will be doing the infiltration ourselves. We know some of you would like to join us, but before we know if any of you can actually help we need to get eyes on the building. So Bella if you would."

"Thank you Rose." Bella pointed to the bulletin board with the maps of Maine and the google images of the area they needed to go. "As you can see we couldn't get a picture of the location on google earth. That's not surprising because it's hidden in the Appalachian Mountains. Because of this when we get there Rosalie and I will go on foot and get as close to the building as possible to install cameras to monitor the coming and goings of the building. We are going to try to find out as much as we can before we come back to Gil's home where we will be working out of. From there we will make a new plan based on what we see from the cameras. Going forward everything will depend on a lot of things we don't have concrete facts about yet. That makes this whole mission that much more dangerous. We don't know the enemy but the enemy may know us. If they have knowledge of shifters, they could have knowledge of vampires. None of you will be hundred percent safe and none of you have had any training for this kind of thing but most importantly this isn't your fight. You have no obligation to save shifters. I don't expect you to. So if you don't want to come I won't hold it against you."

Silence descended on the room as everyone took in the severity of the situation . Charlotte looked to Peter who nodded. "I speak for myself and Peter when I say, we are in. As we've said before we will always stand beside the White Tiger."

"You know I'm in. I may not be able to be all stealth like the two of you but I can be useful." Emmett said.

Jasper sighed as he looked into his wife's pleading eyes. "I don't like the idea of going into danger, but I like it even less when Alice goes into it by herself. We're in."

Alice squealed causing everyone to cover their ears. "Don't worry you guys I'll find a way to be useful to and I promise I won't lose my arm again."

"You lost your arm?" Charlie asked wide eyed.

Alice waved him off. "It was no big deal, Rosalie saved me by punching a vampire through the skull with her fist and killing him. After that it was easy to find my arm and reattach it."

"What!" Charlie screeched.

"I find myself intrigued with this situation as I would really like to know what they are trying to do with the experiments on the shifters. They must be extensive and the information that is being discovered could be invaluable. I wouldn't mind going to see that." Carlisle said before he found himself flat on his back with a glowing eyed, growling Bella on top of him with her hand around his throat.

"BELLA!" Rosalie called out as she pushed Charlie back on the couch as he stood up to pull Bella off Carlisle. "Bella don't kill him. He didn't mean anything by it."

"That's the problem Rosalie, he did." Bella mumbled through a mouth that had partially shifted giving Bella a wider jaw and elongated teeth. "This bastard would do anything in the name of science. I bet he would kill me in an instant to use my body to discover what makes me the White Tiger."

Rosalie thought about what Bella had said. She was right Carlisle didn't truly give a fuck about any of them. He had already proven that numerous times. Was it right to bring him into a situation where young children were more than likely being tortured just for him to take a look at what scientific breakthroughs had been made. It was then she felt the last bit of the bond between her sire break as she fought the urge to kill him herself as she came to the conclusion that yes he would. He would cut Bella apart and throw away the parts that weren't useful just to find out what made her tick. Looking at the man as his neck was slowly cracking she felt no loyalty to him only the small hope that Bella wouldn't feel to bad after she killed him.

"Rosalie please, help him." Esme pleaded when Rosalie made no further move to stop Bella from killing Carlisle.

"Rosalie do something." Alice yelled as Rosalie still refused to move.

Emmett jumped on Bella's back, wrapped his arms around her and pulled. "Bella come on, snap out of it. You're better than this. Rosalie help."

Watching Emmett attack Bella snapped Rosalie out of her musings as she grabbed Emmett by the back of the neck and threw him through the window. She turned around and crouched in front of Bella to protect her. The rest of the room stood and backed up as far away from the scene as they could in the small room.

"Rosalie, he's my mate. Don't let her kill him. Please,it would kill me too. Don't do this to me." Esme sobbed.

Rosalie stood and grabbed Bella. "Sweetheart, you can't do it. He deserves it, but Esme doesn't. Think of how you would feel if you lost me. You can't put her through that. It would hurt you as much as it would hurt her."

Bella stood and picked Carlisle up by his shirt as his head was only barely attached to his body. "I should kill you right now. I would have long ago but I respected Rosalie to much but know this. You get no more free passes from me. If I find out you are being even a little bit invasive about anything to do with myself, Rosalie or any shifters I won't kill you right away. I will study you over time to try and find out the most painful way to kill a vampire and then when I'm bored with you I will turn you over to my friends to let them deal with a vampire who gets off on the suffering of their young."

Rosalie looked at Bella in awe as Bella turned to face the group. Her mate had partially shifted. Her jaw was larger to accommodate her teeth that were more shaped like her tiger ones than her human ones, her hair had black streaks through it, her ears were pointed and her eyes were glowing. She had never witnessed a shifter only partially shift before and didn't even think it was possible. Bella usually shifted so fast she never really got to observe how she went about doing it, but partially shifted like this Bella looked every part of the animal she was in her human form. The idea that it was her mate that was causing the whole room to fill with terror was very appealing and she decided right then that she was going to get Bella naked in the next 15 minutes no matter what.

Esme rushed over and caught Carlisle as Bella dropped him to the floor. She frantically began spreading her venom to try and reattach his head. Bella looked at them and scoffed as she left the room with Rosalie right behind followed by the two kittens who raced towards Rosalie. She bent and picked them up as they left the room. Everyone was silent until they heard Rosalie's door shut.

"What the fuck was that?" Charlie asked. He was stunned by the doctor's interest in the suffering of those poor kids but the violent reaction from Bella was astonishing. He had never before felt such power coming off a person. It felt like if Bella wanted she could crush him with just a thought. It was beyond scary. He couldn't comprehend that it was his own flesh and blood that commanded such strength. It was making him rethink his objections to the two of them going on this mission. If Rosalie was half as formable as Bella then the two of them really didn't need anybody else to go at all.

"That's what you get when you piss of the White Tiger." Emmett said as he stumbled into the room. Alice ran over to him to make sure he was alright."I'm fine. She just threw me,she didn't break me. I did take out a few trees and one large boulder."

"Is he ok?" Jasper asked Esme. He to was startled by the violence but it didn't surprise him. Bella had always been wary of Carlisle for valid reasons Jasper believed. What startled him about the whole thing was that Bella partially shifted. He had never heard of such a thing and to witness it was downright horrifying.

"I think he will be fine." Esme told them as Carlisle's neck hadn't healed enough for him to talk yet. "I will have to thank Rosalie later for stopping Bella."

"Why did it seem like she really didn't want to? I mean Carlisle is her sire. The bond between one’s sire is almost as equal to that of a mate in that you would always want to protect them and defend them. She has protected him from Bella before, why not now?" Peter asked.

"Is that what we are focusing on here people?!"Alice threw her hands up in the air. "Is nobody going to mention the fact that Bella partial shifted. Even her freakin hair shifted."

"She can't normally do that?" Charlie asked feeling very much out of his comfort zone. It wasn't everyday you saw a man have his head partially ripped off then watched as it slowly reattached.

Charolette shook her head as she watched Esme still working on Carlisle's neck. "No shifters either shift to their animal form or they don't. There are no in-between. The fact that Bella can do it isn't that surprising though. She is the Great White Tiger."

"Are they still going to let us go with them to Maine?" Emmett asked.

"I don't think right this second is the best time to ask them." Jasper warned him.

"I'm going to go pack just in case." Alice said making her way out of the room.

Emmett ran out behind her. "Me too. There is no way I'm letting a chance to use all that cool stuff they bought today slip through my fingers. I'll run to Maine if I have to."

Peter chuckled. "Nothing brings those two down does it? I think we are going to pack to. I know they wanted to leave soon so it's best to be ready when they are."

"I'm going to head out. I think I'll just text Bella and let her know. I don't want to interrupt whatever she is up to right now." Charlie said as he stood to leave.

"I'll walk you out." Jasper told him wanting to get as far away from Carlisle as he could. Bella wasn't kidding when she threatened him and there was no way he was going to commit suicide trying to save a man who was a little to interested in the inner workings of his wife and his gifts.
