When Dawn Breaks Chapter 26

"White Tiger we have the meeting room ready as you asked." Billy told Bella as she, Rosalie and the three shifters entered the community hall conference room. Billy along with Sue, Sam and Quil had met them at the doors of the building after agreeing to allow the shifters to come to their lands.

"Thank you Billy." Bella said. "If you wish to join us you may. Although this doesn't affect you directly it is an issue that all shifters should be aware of."

Rosalie pulled out a chair at the head of the table for Bella to sit and took to a seat to Bella's right. The other three shifters sat on her side of the table while Billy and his tribe members sat across from them. When everyone settled down she began with the introductions."These are Gil, who is a bear shifter. Patsy a lynx shifter and Dereck a wolf shifter. They have come to Bella for help. Gil can you explain everything that happened again so we are all on the same page."

"Over the last few weeks the shifters in our region of the Appalachian Mountains have had their young abducted." Quil gasped hearing Gil's words, while Sue put a hand over her mouth and Sam looked angry." While my people never got a look at them Pasty got the details of men in black tactical gear hunting them with tranquilizer darts. They haven't attacked any of the older shifters, it seems they are only after the young."

Bella interjected before the questions could begin. "Derrick if you could I would like for you to give as many details you can of what you found when you tracked them."

"Yes, White Tiger. After our pups were taken we were lucky enough to have been able to track them to a warehouse type building deep in the mountains. It is in a very isolated spot and completely off grid. The building had fencing around it and was guarded by heavy armed and armored men and women. They had regular guns but also guns that fired the same darts that Pasty showed us. We weren't able to get any closer to fully inspect the place because of fear they would have captured us too."

"Thank you, Derrick."Bella looked towards Billy. "Would one of your people be able to go out and buy a bunch of maps of the Appalachian Mountains and Maine, along with a few highway maps of the United States?"

Sam pulled out his phone."Of course White Tiger. I'll have someone go to the Newton's Store. They will have everything you need."

Rosalie stopped Sam from making the call. "Actually we will be needed a bunch of stuff if you don't mind. We need highlighters, pads of paper and pens, things like that. Also you all will need food so maybe you could go to the butcher we use. You know what I'll make a list."

'Why don't we move this to the school?" Sue asked. "That way we would have access to a lot of the stuff you need and the use of white boards and things, like the computer lab would be also available to use."

"If that is alright with you guys that would be perfect." Rosalie handed the list and her black card to Sam." Tell them to get whatever they want for food. We have used that butcher shop before so they won't be surprised by large orders."

Sam held up his hands. "Oh no Rosalie, you don't have to pay. We are more than willing to do this for the White Tiger."

"That is very thoughtful of you Sam but you are doing us a favor." Rosalie told him. "I don't feel comfortable making you pay for any of the supplies we need. So take my card and please buy enough food for you and everyone else to have a large cook out. Bella alone eats three times as much as you, I don't even want to guess how much a bear shifter eats."

"I do eat quite a bit more than wolf shifters, however it would interesting to see how my appetite compares to the Great White Tiger." Gil said thoughtfully.

Reluctantly Sam took Rosalie's credit card. "If you insist Rosalie, but I will make sure it is Emily who has control over paying for things so there won't be frivolous purchases."

"I trust you." Rosalie looked to Bella. "Can I talk to you before we go to the school?"

Bella motioned to everyone. "Why don't you all make your way over to the school and we will meet you there."

"What are thinking?" Rosalie asked Bella when everyone had left the room.

"Let's walk and talk." Bella held her hand out for Rosalie. When they made it out of the community building she spoke. "I think someone is capturing shifters to do do experiments on them."

"I think the same thing." Rosalie agreed. "Why only the young though?"

"I think it has to do with their shifting." Bella said. "For some reason newly transformed shifters are their targets now but who knows what they have done before or what they will do next. We have to hope they aren't killing them."

"I don't want to think what kinds of things are being done to those poor children." Rosalie shivered at the graphic thoughts that flooded her mind.

Bella pulled Rosalie into a hug. "I don't either."

"We have to help them Bella." Rosalie clung to Bella taking comfort in her warmth.

Bella sighed. "I know. I just don't think anyone will like the way we do it."

"What do you mean?" Rosalie asked. "Do you already have a plan?"

"I have part of one." Bella said. "The problem is it only includes you and me because we know the shifters can't help as they have the weapons to neutralize them."

Rosalie pulled back to look at Bella." Why just you and me? What about my family? Can they help?"

"That's the thing. We don't know who we are going up against. We need to do recon to find out what the threat is." Bella told her. "Your family isn't really trained for that."

"Well maybe Jasper, but I see what you mean. It's not like we are trained either though." Rosalie pointed out.

"Yes but we are indestructible to most threats." Bella reminded her. "If things went sideways we could protect ourselves just fine."

Rosalie groaned. "My family isn't going to like this. I am already hearing Emmett complaining."

"He can complain all he wants. At the end of the day he isn't in charge,you and I are." Bella said.

Rosalie started walking again. "I think it would good to have them there as back up. Maybe even a few of the shifters. That way even if we don't need help with the threat they can help with getting any of the kidnapped shifters out of there."

"That's a good idea. Maybe we should get some electronic equipment to help us. Even if they can't get close it doesn't mean they can't help out. What do you think?" Bella asked.

"I think that is a good idea. This isn't a situation that we can just run out and deal with right away without careful planning, though I want to save those poor kids right this second." Rosalie thought about it for a few moments. "I feel like this is an instance we are going to have to use your family name to get things done sweetheart."

Bella gave Rosalie a confused look."Ok, why do we need to do that?"

"Because we are going to need some high quality servalance equipment and we are going to need it quickly." Rosalie explained. "We may even want to look into getting our own tactical suits. There is no way you and I can just walk in the place without anyone recognizing you."

"You're right." Bella sighed. "This is a lot harder of a job than destroying a bunch of vampires."

Rosalie chuckled. "I don't think we will get lucky enough to have that easy of a threat to deal with again. Do you want to call Tala or do you want me to?"

"How about I call her and you call Charlie and explain everything that is going on?" Bella asked.

Rosalie shook her head. "No way. I am not telling your father. That's all on you."

"I though you loved me." Bella whined.

Rosalie kissed her cheek as they walk up to the school. "I do love you, which is why I am not making you call both your father and your personal assistant."

"Ok so that doesn't mean you can't help me tell Charlie."Bella pleaded.

"I think this is a job for Billy to help you with my love." Rosalie told her. "I don't think he would be willing to listen to two teenage girls telling him how important it was for them to go up alone against a bunch of military level men kidnapping children."

Bella sighed. "Billy would be perfect for this. I'm not sure if he can convince Charlie of the importance of our roles in this but he may be able to talk him down from trying to outright refuse to let us go."

"Not that he actually could." Rosalie said.

"Not that he actually could but he is my parent and I would rather not fight him on this. I'm sure it would cause at least a small rift against the two of us if I had to disregard him completely." Bella sighed. "I would rather have him on my side."

Rosalie pulled Bella to a stop right before the school entrance."You will only know after you tell him but I think he may surprise you. I mean look at what happened when he found out about your tiger and our bond. He didn't even bat an eye when we came down the stairs together this morning."

"I know. I just worry." Bella kissed Rosalie softy."Let's get this meeting over with so we can start making a more concrete plan."

Rosalie opened the door for Bella following inside after her."Do you want to do that back at my house?"

"It might me better. You have more room to work with and your family will want to know what's going on." Bella frowned. "Then we have to decide about what we are going to do about school."

"What do you mean?" Rosalie asked.

"Well we are going to be missing a ton of it and I don't know how that will effect our graduating on time." Bella explained.

Rosalie groaned. "Let's worry about that later. Right now we have more important things to deal with."

"Agreed." Bella said as she and Rosalie made there way to the computer lab.
