When Dawn Breaks Chapter 24

"Bella I've been meaning to ask, how is your car coming along?" Charlie asked the next morning as he, Bella and Rosalie were sitting at the table eating breakfast.

"I've got some parts for it but haven't had a chance to work on it yet." Rosalie told him. "We've been rather busy lately but now that things have slowed down I plan on putting a lot more time into it."

"Let me know how much you have spent on parts. That way I can reimburse you." Charlie said.

Before Rosalie could refuse the offer Bella replied. "I'll get you the receipts dad."

"Good." Charlie grabbed Bella's empty plate. "I'll do dishes since you two cooked."

Giving Charlie a kiss on the cheek on her way to the door Bella called out. "Thanks dad, have a good day."

"You too girls." They heard him say as they made their way to Rosalie's car.

After getting Bella situated Rosalie got in the driver's side. "I'm sorry Bella."

"Why are on earth are you sorry?" Bella asked confused.

"I've been a terrible mate." Rosalie cut off Bella's objections. "No, I have. I've had your car since the second day we met and I have yet to fix it for you."

Bella smiled. "Rose we really haven't had any time to catch our breath, let alone fix my car."

Rosalie shook her head. "That's no excuse. I'm supposed to be taking care of you and I haven't done that."

"Rosalie, you have taken care of me." As Rosalie parked the car in the school parking lot Bella took her hand. "Yes, you may not have fixed my car yet but you went to war and destroyed over a dozen newborn vampires to protect me. In the grand scheme of things I think you have done a wonderful job proving that you are the perfect imprint. I could never choose anyone better than you."

"I just don't want to let you down." Rosalie sighed.

Bella put her forehead against Rosalie's and looked into her eyes. "I promise you on my tiger that you could never let me down."

"Thank you for believing in me sweetheart." Rosalie pulled Bella into a kiss, but before she could deepen it there was knocking on the window.

"Hey you guys may want to cool it on the PDA because there are a bunch of reporters with cameras looking for you Bella." Emmett told them.

Rosalie looked around and noticed that Emmett was right. There were about a dozen people with cameras and microphones milling around the parking lot. Some even interviewing students. She scowled when she noticed Jessica and Lauren standing in front of a news camera being interviewed. "I think we should call Charlie and let him know what's going on. That is if he doesn't already know."

Alice opened Bella's door and pulled her into a hug causing Rosalie to sigh." The principle was out here earlier but instead of telling them to go it looked like he was answering their questions."

"You need me to remove these vermin for you Bella bear?" Emmett asked flexing his arm muscles.

"Maybe if they get out of control."Bella told him patting him on the arm. "Right now I'm just going to inform Charlie."

Emmett pulled Bella into a hug"I got your back Bella."

Rosalie rolled her eyes and let him have his hug. Her siblings weren't being inappropriate and even if they were it wasn't like she could kill them with all the witnesses around. The last thing Bella needed was the press getting video of her ripping her brother's arms off.

Noticing Rosalie was getting a little upset with the hug Bella gentle pushed Emmett away. "Thank you Emmett. It's good to know I can always count on you."

"You can count on me too." Alice said grabbing Bella's arm and walking her towards the school as they heard the bell ring.

Bella extracted her arm carefully and gave Alice a smile. "How about I count on you not to push Rosalie to far with the physical contact. She let you have your hugs but don't test her please. She doesn't need the stress."

Before Alice could complain Jasper grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close to his body. "I think that is a more than reasonable request. Rosalie has been more than fair about your contact with her mate."

Rosalie stopped Bella in the hallway and gave her a kiss. "Thank you my love."

"No need to thank me." Bella told her. "I need to be more caring of your feelings."

"I'll see you at lunch,don't forget to call Charlie." Rosalie said making her way to her class.

By the time lunch came around the press had multiplied but now it had a police presence keeping them off the property. Rosalie was annoyed with the whole thing and when she saw more than one person with a cell phone filming Bella walking to their lunch table she had to stop herself from murdering the entire high school population. As Bella sat down she began setting out the containers of food Charlotte had sent with Alice.

Bella kissed her cheek. "Thank you."

"Why is it every time something cool happens to you,you guys are never with us?" Emmett asked as he slid a tray full of different flavored jello towards Bella.

Rosalie moved the tray away from Bella and pushed the salad towards her to eat instead."What are you talking about this time?"

"Just the fact that Bella sacred the piss out of a grown man and he was so traumatized that he curled into a ball and cried afterwords." Emmett huffed.

"What?" Rosalie asked."How do you even know about that?"

Alice sighed and pulled out her phone."Seriously, you guys really need to become familiar with the internet. It's all over the news. Some chick named Tracy posted it claiming it was her brother. It went viral from there."

Rosalie took the phone and watched a video of Bella picking up Bobby Jr and threatening him. The camera then helpfully zoomed in on the piss stain forming on the front of his pants. The video cut off as Bobby Sr. was trying to help the crying man up from the ground. "Oh for fuck sake. I can't believe she posted that."

"Great." Bella groaned. "Now I'm going to be known as a thug who beats people up when they insult her girlfriend."

"Actually, you are being praised by most of the people." Alice told her."There are tons of comments."

"Is it just me or is Bella Shurlong even hotter when she is defending her girlfriend’s honor?, Guys is it wrong that after watching this video I am feeling a little gay and a whole lot of attracted to Bella?" Rosalie scoffed as she read the comments out loud. "Who needs a man to defend you when you have a tall sexy woman?,Bella Shurlong is completely swoon worthy in this video,So jealous of her gf, Why are all the rich hot lesbians always taken?"

"Why would people write that?" Bella asked finally starting on her jello."I mean I basically assaulted the guy. If he wanted I'm sure he could sue me."

"Well apparently people didn't take kindly to that guy trying to get in Rosalie's personal space to intimidate her. Most of the public seems to not only like the fact that you defended Rosalie but that you made a creepy looking grown man piss himself just by threatening him." Alice explained.

"He would be stupid to sue you." Emmett said."It would bring more attention to him and I don't think he wants that right now. You made him the laughing stock of the internet. I have seen memes already made of it."

"I must say your control is impressive." Jasper said. "I don't know if I could have refrained from beating that guy if I had been as angry as you were in that video."

Bella gave Rosalie a smile."Rosalie talked me down. I wanted to break every bone in his body but she reminded me that a mere human could never understand the power of our bond and he wasn't worth wasting my energy on."

"So who was the guy anyway?" Emmett asked.

"Apparently he is Bella's cousin." Rosalie told them wiping some Jello off of Bella's cheek. "Charlie has two brothers that are kind of shady people from what he told us and this brother came over yesterday to meet Bella. It was obviously a ploy to get something from her and not any real want to get to know her."

"That sucks." Alice said. "You actually have blood relatives alive and they are dirtbags. That's got to feel horrible."

"I feel the worst for Charlie." Bella told them. "I am used to people wanting to use me. After dealing with my mother it is no hardship to cut ties with family. Charlie has been through so much in his life though and has been so alone, to have these as his only family is heartbreaking."

"They aren't his only family." Rosalie reminded Bella. "He has you and you bring him so much happiness."

"Oh right!" Emmett said excitedly." You told Charlie about you yesterday. How did it go?"

"It went amazing. He was surprised at first but after he calmed down we went back to the house where Billy, Sam and us explained everything." Bella reached for Rosalie's hand. "He has even accepted our imprint bond and invited Rosalie to spend the night last night with me in my room."

Alice squealed and clapped. "This is so exciting! You guys don't have to pretend anymore. Now you don't have to hide."

"Does this mean you are going to move into Charlie's house?" Jasper asked Rosalie.

"I'm going to bring some stuff over and stay there for now." Rosalie told him. "Bella and I are going on vacation next week so we are going to wait until we come back to make a plan."

Alice stared at them wide eyed. "Wait, what? You are guys are going on vacation? Where are you going and can we come with?"

Bella put her arm around Rosalie. "Sorry Alice, you can't come this time. I promised my imprint she would get a week alone in a cabin in the woods in Vermont with no phones or any communication to the outside world unless it's an emergency."

"Oh man, now I'm going to be stuck with just these guys for a week." Emmett complained. "When are we going to have our day together?"

"Actually we talked about it and Saturday we are going on our outing with you Emmett." Rosalie said. "Then we are leaving on Saturday night."

"What are we doing?" Emmett asked.

"That my friend, is a surprise." Before he could protest Bella added. "I guarantee you will love it. Rosalie and I put a lot of thought into it for you."

Emmett high fived Bella. "We are going to have so much fun. I just know it. You guys are the best."

"Well if you would like to continue having fun with us I would like to go shopping this afternoon for the stuff we need for Charlie's house." Rosalie cut off Emmett. "There will be a budget Emmett."

"Fun police strikes again." Emmett grumbled.

"Are we going to be installing everything ourselves?" Alice asked." I mean Esme knows all about that type of stuff but we don't."

Rosalie shook her head. "No we are planning on hiring the wolves. They have experience with construction already."

"I'll call Esme and tell them to meet us at the store after school." Alice said already dialing her phone.

Emmett put is hands together in a begging motion."Can we please take my Jeep so we can all ride together?"

Rosalie sighed. "Yes Emmett we can take your Jeep and ride together."

The bell ringing stop the further excitement of the upcoming shopping trip and as she separated from the group to go class Rosalie was already dreading the afternoon.
