Let’s Make Some Noise: Music comes to Noemi’s Toscana Rebirth!

Welcome-welcome each and every one, come on in and let’s get our week started! It’s a fairly big day in the beWilderverse as we take a step up in a whole new front! We’ve no doubt got a lot to jibber-jabber about on this, so let’s get right into it. Here’s the top line, the big announcement, the secret upgrade we’ve been working on a while now:


We’re thrilled to announce that we’re bringing bespoke music to Noemi’s Toscana Rebirth! Yes, at last our beWilderverse will have sound!


Y’all know we love us some music. Who doesn’t? It’s pretty clear we do, but especially so in NTR, between Kriem’s love of drumming and expression through it, her and Brad’s bonding over their lyrics game, Frankie’s hometown connection through her Billy Joel fandom (we haven’t seen that much yet, have we? Well we will), not to mention Kelsey’s entire dance persona too. We do so love the beat, the reason and rhyme, all that sweet jazz. We simply have no talent for it ourselves, and so we’ve never tried to go for it professionally, lest we mar our art and storytelling with a poor job of it.

Well, that’s changed, all thanks to the generosity of one talented fan, MaffinMusicMan. In mid-August, Maffin reached out to tell us how much he enjoyed Noemi and all we’ve been doing with her. He offered to create a soundscape of background music for the game as his part of contributing to making the beWilderverse even better in a way he best can, all free of charge to us and you, our fans. So of course, after hearing some of his work, we gladly and thankfully accepted.


Since then, we’ve worked with Maffin to help craft some simple tracks and loops, giving him time and feedback to create an initial track list to suit the varied situations and moods of the game. We’ve put in the work, especially him, and we’ve reached the point that it’s about time we start having some practice at releases. We’ve gone through literally (we mean literally) every click in every story and character arc scene, every restaurant gameplay outcome and each of Noe’s days off outcomes as well, updating our engine to handle music cues, and potentially any other sound that might one day come down the line. We’re ready now to stand up and set out on our first baby steps as we learn to walk and hopefully one day run in this space.

And so, we’ll say it again, Noemi and NTR will now have music throughout, starting immediately in v0.17!

Before we go on or sign off, it’s only right to take a moment to let you all know a little bit about MaffinMusicMan himself, the first official contributor to the beWilderverse. (Don’t that sound like such sweet music to your ears?)

A traditional musician, the kind that holds real instruments (they do still exist), and an aspiring composer, Maffin is big fan of music, sound, games and especially that special area with all these overlap. As reserved as he is, he’s not got much else about himself he’d like to say, but rather let his passions in his work be his voice. However, he did have want it to be known that the reason he’s here with us of all the places he could be is because of Noemi. She caught his eye, and in finding out that we didn’t have any sound to go with her, he was excited to potentially be able to play a hand in furthering her adventures. As much as he’s aiming to enhance the experience that is Noe, he’s hoping she can teach him a thing or two (about music in games!) with all that’s to come in her journey ahead. He’s in it for the experience, but by no means is this his first rodeo, not even in our own genre of games. He’s already worked on and boosted up the feel of some big games, including "The Promise" (by Xagrim's Gameforge) and "Big Brother: Another Story" (by Alexey90), so we’re in some good hands with going forward. Only the best we can get for Noemi!


That’s about all there is to say about him right now, but as we said, his work is his voice, so let’s hear him out directly. Ready your ears, here’s some early samples of the sounds to come themselves!

Alrighty then, we’ve said a lot and dropped a big bomb of exciting news stuffs already, so let’s let it sink in and give you fans some time to absorb it, even have your say. By all means, comments are welcome, and we have a whole Discord for chatting with you all about this stuff and anything else too. Before we do wrap up however, two last things to say:

- It’s our first time taking on audio in a professional capacity, and we’re super thankful to Maffin for his generous contribution of time and effort to even make this possible. We’re glad to be able to take the beWilderverse this seemingly simple, yet significant step forward. However, this is a start, not finish. Our first release will hopefully be laudable, but as we go on we’ll continue to work with Maffin, adding new tracks tailored to specific scenes types, characters, moods and sexiness, refining the audio side of the game with time, experience and feedback. We hope you’ll all help with your thoughts when the time comes, have patience with us, and most importantly enjoy NTR on a whole new level.

- Secondly, the obvious question that springs up is “what about AoH”? It is of course our desire and intent to also bring some sound to Heels now that we’ve got the chance. We’ve discussed it with Maffin already, and as of now he’s happy to do the same for Nat as Noe… However, there is a caveat. AoH is currently in the big end game, with plenty left to do with Mission #3 before we come to a full content climax. Altering the engine there would take a lot of time to do without introducing faults/bugs, and what’s more, it’s Unshi’s time. Art time. We don’t want to hold up releases for either game over this, certainly not at this stage. We feel it’s the smarter move to focus entirely on NTR audio-wise right now, learn from the experiences there and not split our attentions. AoH will need at least 1 version (maybe more) of post content polishing before it reaches v1.0 anyway, where we clean up the day-to-day gameplay, the few known issues, overall look and feel etc. It’s better to do sound then and there, when things are content complete. So, to put it simply, yes we would like AoH to also have sound eventually, but we will be leaving that as an aspiration for the foreseeable future, to make sure we get it right and not screw with the end game ahead.


Okay-dokay Dr Joneses! That’s us, and a whole lot to think on. As we said, we’re on track for a sound release (that’s an Irish culture pun by the way) right ahead, and now that our secret’s out, we’re about ready to hit y’all with the big Teaser publicly when next we post! Get your headphones out then and get to listening, we’re off to bring a whole new beWilderfrontier to you!
