Army Painting Salamanders

Hi all,

We've had a fair few requests for a simple Salamanders scheme, so here it is! I'll be doing a slightly different green for the 30k version.

cheers, Henry

THIS WILL BE A PUBLIC VIDEO YOU ARE GETTING IT A BIT EARLY

This is a great refreshing way to think about painting Salamanders - for years I did layers and it just took too long. Excited to try this out. Would love to see a version of this for 30K Salamanders as I know there are some slight differences.

for weathering the winton is fine ya? I got the burn umber and burn sienna.

On the subject of the oil washes, is there any rhyme or reason to your choice of lamp black? W&N seem to do several shades of black and there is some rather confusing information on the Internet about which ones look darker vs. which ones actually are darker (if that’s even a meaningful distinction). Cheers.

For the alkyd (water based) oil you use water to thin. Artists oil colour are a higher quality than winton, the pigment doesn’t break up as much with heavy thinning, so I prefer those to wash with.

whats the difference between the artisan and the winton oil colour? for the h20 based oil do you need to us a different thinner? why not just use the full oil lamp black instead?
