It occurs to me that Thad, though he's a chill dude and I like him, is super-old and not very engaged with the details of the world around him in some ways. Leliah, much younger, has to understand more for the sake of her own survival. There's an interesting 'experience and confidence vs energy and ambition' dynamic there. Even moreso because he mentored her as a caller, as briefly mentioned but not yet explored.
