J Hope Hope on the street concert!

Well I wanted to do something new!!

Although I had some critiques and some songs I didn't enjoy I'm SO glad I got to the end and even found songs I adored!

It totally makes sense why he would want to move away from performing as an "idol" and embodying a full on rock/hip hop persona however as one of the best dancers in K-pop, it was a little disappointing not seeing some really full out dance sequences within his own songs.

Same goes for the staging too, he could do pull off some fun theatrical moments because of his charisma but it seems he is more focused on being taken seriously as an artist and showing a more mature side, which is fair enough but I'd love for him to play around with that lot more.

Overall this is an excellent concert in terms of stage production and the beautiful range of dancers he's picked as well as how they were showcased!

Enjoy!

If you didn't catch it, he ended his concert with his song neuron which is the name of the dance crew that he was part of when he was younger and gave him his love for dance

Kristine Cortes

Such a bummer that most of his songs are not for me, but I looove when artists have this undeniable love for their work and performing, I also can feel it with txt Taehyun or Hoshi and it makes the concert still enjoyable

Thank you!!!

When I saw the thumbnail I taught it was the France performance 😂 Until I read the title Thanks for the honest review as always. I am always excited to hear your perspectives. Your musical insight makes the review more enjoyable to watch

OMG that would be fun!!

Thank you for such a beautifully written comment and for paying to watch! I appreciate it a lot and your points are great!

“i don’t know” with yunjin is one of my favorite solo bts releases ever!! such a hit

emma

also i hope that if Hoseok continues his "Hope on the street" documentary where he learns more about different dance styles from professionals, he'll try voguing or maybe waacking. I know that I'm delusional but a girl can dream

Well, I've never paid for anything quicker lol, j-hope's my ultimate bias as the kpop kids would say, so I'm gonna leave one big comment with everything that comes to mind, as I'm watching your reaction. 1. Everyone knows that he's an amazing dancer, one of the best in the industry for sure. And you can really see it even when he's not dancing. He's got such... grace, rhythm, swag in his every move, even when he's just walking around the stage and not doing much. 2. I hope that BTS will continue to have concerts with live bands in the future. They did it in Busan, Yoongi had a live band during his tour and now Hoseok. It just hits different. Works so well especially with the heavier songs. 3. "Just dance" is a song from Love Yourself: Answer. When BTS were on tour Hobi perfomed it kinda like you imagined. Nice suit, moving stage, dancers, choreo, even water. This version was way more chill which leads me to the next point. 4. I feel like his energy in this concert is more subdued. Not only compared to group concerts, but also Lollapalooza. I kinda get it, its his first long performace after basically 2 years. His stamina might not be as good as it was, his body maybe gets more tired. But I feel like this tour will get better with each stop. He just need to fully find his groove again. 5. The JYP jumpscare in the subs after "Sweet dreams" lol 6. Now that I'm later into the concert I feel like he seems more confident already. He's such a superstar ah. 7. Hoseok's a planer, a perfectionist so this concert's structure really makes sense. Part I - "jhope the rapper" with the red outfit and the songs from "Jack in the box". Part II - "jhope the dancer" with the casual fit and songs from "HOTS pt 1". Part III - "jhope the idol" with the bling, groups songs and his earlier solo stuff. Three eras, three distinctive personas. Or just aspects of him. 8. "Equal sign" is a song from "Jack in the box" just like basically all of the darker songs that you didn't like lol. It's really a gem amongst the heavier melodies. Pretty song with a nice message, we love to see it. He even sang it with IU in his episode of IU's pallette. Thank you for this reaction. I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself! <3

Oh good point! Done :D Hopefully that’s better 😅

Hina

Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it.

I watched the concert for the first time with you, and even if you're not into all the songs (which is totally okay, of course), I really enjoyed your reaction and commentary (and the concert). I like more or less every song jhope has, so I'm glad you found something you might enjoy too! (and let me add, i wouln't mind seeing a few more jhope reactions 👀)

Daniela

AHHHH hahaha you know me well then!! Well this does sound super interesting, maybe I'll check it out one day and thanks for explaining all that, he's so adorable! Also can you break up your text into paragraphs so others can read it easier please!

I love Hobi . Can’t wait till he comes to the states💜 it’s going to be crazy loud

Seny

YES! Never lose that curiosity, it’s what I love most about you. That and the squeals when you find something you truly enjoy lol. I love to see your passion for good music and artistry and that sincerity always reaches me through the screen!!! Anyway, most of the songs you loved were from his HOPE ON THE STREET album which I mentioned in a message I left you once but didn’t recommend it and I’m so mad I didn’t because wtf you liked them all 😂 This was the album that accompanied his street dance series I mentioned, I still think it’s super worth checking out if you haven’t yet 😭 He travelled alongside his past mentor to meet and learn choreo from renowned dancers in their styles which fit each track on his album. For example, the song Lock / Unlock w Nile rogers that had the locking has a whole locking choreo for it. That and a whole bunch of freestyles before every main showcase of choreo. There should probably be clips out there of each one. NEURON is actually the name of his original dance crew in Gwangju and so the song is about and for them. He meets them all in the series and dances with his old teachers and new younger students. Very cute. He always showcases the dancers because of said roots and I love to see it 😭 Again, not necessarily a reaction request lol but I wouldn’t be complaining if you felt like it 😂 Hobi is such a professional lmao, he even mentions how he KNOWS the lack of dancing in his initial solo endeavours (not in BTS albums) would be a little disappointing and then boom, hope on the street drops soon after w dancing in abundance 😂 I get what you mean though, it’s a different thing entirely to do it live and merge both producer / rapper w dancer hobi. This was so much fun! This comment is all over the place but all this to say, love hobi - love you - looking forward to whatever’s next as always 👍👍👍
