The gun show

Before starting the video series I was already way too comfortable making the up to 4 hour trips across South Carolina for gun shows. It was fun to dig for buried treasure but even as the big finds dwindled I kept going for the people I had now befriended. At this point most of them just give me a ring when something unique turns up.The Primer series would never have happened without this broadly local community. They put me in the habit of reading and repeating what I had found. Many were supportive of efforts to photograph for early articles and loaned pieces for video. The genuine good nature of other collectors is why I had the confidence to put my ugly mug on video; because I had a bit of experience telling me most people would be patient and kind hearted. So for those of you who don't live in SC, thanks for sharing in this global gun show. Whenever Patreon rolls in each month my first feeling is that same warm sensation of a shared hobby with friends. My second is the crippling anxiety of parsing finite funds in the best possible manner to predict the availability and timing of every possible firearm of the Great War, their ammunition, and any priority equipment, repair, or travel. I should stick to the first longer.

If you find a Russian Contract Winchester 1895 at a good price, I'll jump on that grenade for you... :-)
