Billing paused until 2024 sheet is finished

Today is my 40th birthday and I would love to have been able to give you the present of a finished 2024 character sheet, but I’m just not there yet. Instead, I have another present for you.

To give myself some (much needed) incentives, I’ve decided to pause the billing of this Patreon until the 2024 character sheet is finished. This effectively means I will have no income until I get this done.

Paused billing

When a Patreon is “paused”, it means that you won't be charged monthly. My Patreon will be paused until the 2024 character sheet PDF is done, with a minimum of 1 month.

I need to pause for at least 1 month because Patreon charges you every month on the same day that you joined. This doesn't apply to those who joined before April 2025, you get charged on the 2nd of every month. If I would pause only for part of a month, some people might be charged, while others wouldn’t be.

You will still be charged if you join

Unfortunately, Patreon doesn’t offer a way to pause new people from joining. If you just joined this Patreon, you would have been charged. If you feel this is unfair, please contact me and I'll refund your pledge.

Pausing makes it so that no monthly payments are collected, but it doesn’t stop new subscribers from being charged to gain access.

Some more background

Transcribing all the content for the sheet is a lot of work, specifically because I make each rule fit the space allotted on the character sheet exactly. This means not only doing the automation for the rules, which is fun, but also rewriting them in a short, distinct form while maximising their rule density. It is a time consuming and boring job which I get tired off (and distracted from) very easily. The most exhausting parts are those that are probably the least prominent in the sheet: spells, creatures, and especially magic items.

Now The Pokésimmer did an amazing job at getting all the 2024 content into a MPMB import file at lightning speed, but unfortunately it shows. I have been using their script as inspiration for the short descriptions, but I’m triple-checking everything to make sure it is correct and understandably finding tiny mistakes. It has helped my process immensely, but hasn't sped it up as much as one might expect. Not to say The Pokésimmer did a bad job, I wish I could've attacked the rules with as much vigour as they did, all praise to them!
