LIVE Chat: Recognizing Abuse, "Am I a Burden?" and Learning to Trust Again

Hi cutie,

Here is an abridged version of today's live chat, in case you missed it! During these chats every 4-6 weeks, I welcome people to submit questions and we'll talk about anything you want. If you want a question to be omitted from the final upload, that's not a problem, either.

Chapters:

01:24 - "What is ok to ask of a partner? Will I be a burden?"
04:38 - "When do we discuss neurodivergence or chronic illness?"
07:34 - "What happens when our PTSD triggers each other?"
16:05 - "What does your (Morgan) polyam look like at the moment?"
22:19 - "How can you recognize abuse in a partner?"
32:20 - "Any resources on solo polyamory specifically?"
34:25 - "How do you trust again after an abusive relationship?"
44:23 - Closing thoughts

LIVE Chat: Recognizing Abuse, "Am I a Burden?" and Learning to Trust Again

Comments

Hi! Yes so peer support can look a lot of ways. It's sometimes called coaching. Basically a lateral power exchange, something with a peer who shares lived experiences, who acts as a 3rd party to offer perspective from outside the dynamic. It's not diagnostic or prescriptive of course, so be wary anyone who tries to act as a therapist when they're not licensed as such. But especially with polyamory, it can be nice to talk to other polyamorists who get it, whereas finding a polyam-experienced therapist is harder to come by. Some people are... better at it than others lol, but I suppose thats very true for therapists as well.

Hi Morgan, watching this live chat again. Around the 7:34 triggers question, you mention 'peer support' and I was wondering what you mean by that? Thank you.
