just watched femme fatale and i have something small to add - the whole heist scene is scored by this piece that is deeply in the style of ravel’s “bolero,” a piece known about the persistence of machinery and the tediousness of linearity. the fact that this piece in the score persists, stops after the heist, then comes back in the very end makes me think that the “good” ending was fated and “correct” the whole time. a bit of a reach, but i wanted to throw this in as potentially in alignment with theda’s pov on the film
