"Select" nodes are for everything. EVERYTHING.
Added 2023-09-21 19:16:51 +0000 UTCI'm back a post, and this made me giggle, so thought I'd share it. Here's how to make a macro that spits out a randomized trans flag color. Note the stacked select, which biases correctly (trans flags have half as much white as they do the other colors).
Now, why would you want to do this? Well. Um. Look I was just making macros and had an idea. But the POINT is that "Select" is incredibly powerful in Blueprint for stacking all kinds of logic. It's something I'd previously only really used in animation, for selecting this or that animation, based on precise logic, but there's waaaaay more Select nodes than that if you look. You can select basically anything, and you can stack them as much as you like, and you can get up to some serious Crimes in your tooling if you exploit that. Convenient crimes, that would otherwise take a lot more stand-alone logic. There's even array-based Selects!
It gets a bit thready, but slap it inside a macro and nobody will ever notice. It's our little secret. So play with it! Just don't tell your team's programmer they might get a lil bit sick. 🤮
