A Short 2023 Recap

The year is coming to a close and it's time to say goodbye to 2023. It's been a long year of development and a lot has happened. I wanted to take this time to do a rewind and look back on the year of "A Man for All" to put into perspective.

The Episodes

Episode 9 came out in 2023 but it was mostly in development in late 2022. Episodes 10 through 13 were the episodes that were fully developed and released in this calendar year. Four updates in a year is okay. It could be better. It could be worse. I know that I can do better but I'd say the amount of content that came out this year is acceptable. I did my best to put out as many updates as I could while trying to maintain a higher standard for myself. My opinion doesn't matter as much as yours though. If you ever feel like you're not getting enough or the updates are unsatisfying, feel free to let me know. I can't promise I'll meet your expectations but I always listen and take it all into consideration.

The Girls

You're all here for the girls. Whenever I outline an episode, I always look at the story, how it revolves around all of the girls, and the progress you're making with each of them. Addressing the obvious first, I know there's still plenty of progress to be made and you're all anxiously awaiting for when that time comes. But I think a lot has happened in these last few episodes worth mentioning.

In 2023, you got the chance to hook-up with several different girls for the first time. Even though women like Lorelei and Grace aren't primary love interests, I know there are some of you who are fans.

You didn't quite go all the way with Vanessa but you did finally get a chance to have an extended date with her as well as the opportunity to pursue. I know it's just a kiss but a kiss is always the first step toward something more.

Other girls like Erika and Harlow revealed more about their backstory develop their character. The sex is important but it never hurts to have an emotional connection, which is what I'm hoping to continue building with everybody.

Overall, you did a lot in 2023. Even though you might not have received the moments with the girls that you've been waiting for (Riley and Vanessa), I hope that you've found something enjoyable enough from this year to at least keep you occupied whether it's through conversation or a character-developing scene.

The Story

In the previous arc of the story, Billy's coffee shop was destroyed. You were trying to put the pieces back together not just for the shop but for your way of life. In 2023, you got a chance to bring Billy's back. The coffee shop is starting to gain momentum.

Along with the new shop, you've got a new apartment. Add to the continued progress at school and not only do things seem like they're back to normal but also back on-track.

The tournament has started and you're doing well making through all of the different fighters. With so much on the line, the stakes have gotten higher and you've managed to get through it all so far.

While you've been focused on the bigger picture, you've also gotten the chance to do some other things. You had some sushi with Vanessa. You went to a club in Old Town. You visited a shelter to help the people down on their luck. You've formed stronger relationships with characters like Saul the businessman, Alfie from Old Town, and Detective Seo. And you've made peace with the Lorelei and the Chargers. Oh, and you even got a chance to sport a new haircut. Looking back on it, I'd say you did a lot.

From where you started at the beginning of 2023, I think you're a different MC with a lot more experience, more relationships, and a deeper knowledge of the city around you.

The last arc of the story was about losing a lot, the coffee shop in particular. This year's arc is about rebuilding and growing from it. I'd say you're in good position where you're at now and you're primed for whatever might be coming next.

My Last Message for 2023

You're all here for the game. You're here for the ladies and want to see what happens next. But besides the game and development itself, there's all of the stuff that goes on outside of it.

The last thing I want to say for the year is what I always say in all of my posts: Thank you. Another year of development is coming to a close. Ever year, it never ceases to amaze me that you're on-board with some of the ideas in my head. I enjoy telling this story but the obvious truth is, it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable without all of you. I appreciate the messages and comments you've sent me. I think a lot about the suggestions and recommendations I receive to try and put them into the game. I'm grateful for the feedback and bug fixes in the Discord, as well as a good laugh every now and then. It's been a long journey so far and it's not over. I think we should all celebrate together what we've achieved this year and up to this point. None of this would have happened without all of you and your support.

This will probably be my last post on here for the year. For those of you taking off, thanks for coming around. For those of you sticking around, I appreciate you staying for the ride.

I'll go into more details with future plans for 2024 as well as a recap of the latest episode once you've all gotten a chance to play it. I'm proud of what we've accomplished this year and I'm looking forward to what we're going to do next year.
