Hey, everybody. By now I'm guessing that all of you have played through Episode 11. I wanted to do a recap just to give you an idea of how I did things and maybe give you some sense of where things are heading. I want to be open about my thought process.
Main Story
I set up a few things in this episode. The first is the advancement of the coffee shop. You're hoping for continued success as the coffee shop is now open. It will continue to play a part in the story as you (hopefully) continue to push the shop to greater heights. Consider this the first step toward something bigger and better.
I'd estimate we're about halfway through the story. The first part of the story is centered around establishing Billy's shop as the greatest coffee shop in the city and its importance in your life. Now this second part is about rebuilding. The shop is open. Now it's about pushing toward furthering your goals after recovering from the setback.
Harlow
Along with the coffee shop, Harlow herself is going through somewhat of a rebuilding process. While the incident was understandably traumatic, I want to continue move past that and not make it something that defines her. I don't want to use it as a crutch and constantly have to go to it. I want her character to have more substance beyond the incident. I like what I have planned for Harlow in terms of her character and I'm going to continue make her stronger to continue leaving the incident in the background and move forward. You only had a brief conversation with her but I wanted to at least lay more groundwork for what's to come.
Whether or not your pursuing her, your relationship with Harlow is only going to get even stronger with some of the events I have planned that don't revolve solely around working together for school.
Kate
The diner sequence was meant to further establish your relationship with Kate. It was also to introduce a wrinkle with Tobias as an outside influence. I'm assuming that most of you have an opinion about Tobias. I have many plans for him and the role he plays in the story with Kate. Without giving too much away, Tobias will be an important fixture you can be sure to see again.
The bathroom scene with her is something I wanted to do for a long time. I want to make hot scenes that are hot not just because of what's happening but the circumstances surrounding them. I have some other ideas that I hope I get to see soon.
As far as your relationship with Kate goes, you're only going to learn more about her as you spend more time together. There are some interest dynamics in your relationship that are going to be introduced that I'm excited to see.
Erika
Erika is going to be as important as she always has been when it comes to the Proving Grounds. She's your attachment to that part of the city. As you could probably guess, things are going to continue to escalate. Things are only going to get trickier and trickier as business in the cage proceeds. I have some things planned for Erika that have already been alluded to in Episode 11. I'm not sure if you caught it or not but if you did, you can probably guess what the potential issue might be.
For a romantic relationship with Erika, things are on course and I like where things are heading. Not much to say beyond that except wait and see.
Riley
Since the story revolves around the coffee shop, Riley will be someone you'll continue to have access to. I can't go into details about what happens because obviously spoilers. I can only say that things are going as planned. Regardless of how you feel about Riley, you're going to be friends and continue getting closer with every sequence.
For those of you who want to pursue Riley, I try to throw in small things here and there. You're going to keep chipping away. Without giving things away, I will say that it's important to listen to what Riley is saying and remember these conversations. I'm not saying every single detail and line of dialogue is something you have to remember. Just keep in mind what kind of girl Riley is as things proceed. If you're paying close attention, you can see some important details that are noteworthy.
Grace
This was a big episode for Grace. It was only one scene but I wanted to explore everything the character as much as I could. Before this, you didn't know much about her. There's a lot of depth to every character but not every character needs to have gone through some type of trauma to make them interesting. When I first created Grace, I already knew what type of character I had in mind. I created a mold and outline for her and continued to build someone around that.
She's an important character because she's a huge part of Vanessa's storyline. I wanted to create a scene that was as organic as could be while making her more than just what you see.
If you like Grace and want to continue seeing more of her, you'll get that option in the future. How big of a role she plays in terms of a serious relationship will be up to you as we get further down the line.
Lorelei
You don't know much about Lorelei. I think she's an interesting character, so I'm looking forward to finally getting a chance to get to know her better.
I know that some have expressed an interest in Lorelei. For those of you interested in her, I think you'll enjoy the interactions with her in the future. For those of you who don't like her or are just treating a potential relationship as strictly business, I think you'll be satisfied with where things are going and the role she plays in the story.
Vanessa
This episode was about Vanessa. The date with Vanessa was more than half of the renders and if not for her, the update would have been finished a lot sooner. I wanted to get this scene with Vanessa just right and I put as much time as I could into it. It feels like a lot of the things that happened were a long time coming.
If you're now pursuing Vanessa, I hope you're happy with how things have progressed so far. I hope that moment was as special to you as it was for me to put it all together. If you're not pursuing her, I hope that your relationship has advanced enough that you have a better opinion of her than all the way back when you first met her. And if you dislike Vanessa for any reason, I've considered that possibility, too.
There's a lot more to Vanessa and in my opinion, you haven't scratched the surface with her. But it was nice to make noticeable progress and I hope you enjoyed it.
Summary
In short, I hope you all enjoyed Episode 11. I always have a set goal for what I want to see and happen in every episode. I think that I accomplished it, especially with Grace and Vanessa.
If you have any feedback on what you liked or didn't like, let me know. I'm always interested in your thoughts on what's happening to make things better or keep giving you what you want.
On Episode 12
Episode 12 is still early in production. I took a few days off to decompress and relax a bit after completion of Episode 11 but I'm back into it with Episode 12. The outline is mostly complete and I have a few renders done. Not sure how long it'll be until there's an official progress update. It's an important episode though with a few big things happening (mostly because things are ramping up), so I'm looking forward to getting it done.
Thank you all for your support. I have some polls coming up and have some philosophy posts planned. Feel free to send me a message if you've got anything to say. Take care and I'll see you all again soon.
