Early bird: Turning a Tesla into KITT!

Dear Supporters, here's another labour of love tentpole episode as I start converting a Tesla Model 3 to make it a bit more Knight Ridery! KITT was the ultimate fictional retrocomputer after all!

And coming soon a "How It's Made" style factory video: How the Commodore 64 was made! Thank you for your ongoing support! πŸ‘πŸ•ΉοΈ

This morning my Google Chrome suggestions included a link to a page promoting the KITTesla video. That's not happened before! Go go go!! https://photos.app.goo.gl/K9HDHzPnuNKCXCEd7 and https://www.techeblog.com/tesla-model-3-kitt-knight-rider-conversion/

Thanks for the tips and sorry to hear about your Halfords incident! I can’t imagine how summon would work via Alexa. For safety the Tesla app requires you to hold you finger on the summon button otherwise the car stops. Let me know if you find the project you’re referring to. Cheers!

Perifractic's Retro Recipes

When you say about not trying this at home, doing this kind of thing in a Halfords car park is a pretty smart idea, that way when you slip with with a knife whilst cutting pull ties off a wiring loom, and slice your finger wide open, you can walk in dripping blood everywhere and ask them very nicely if they can bandage you up... errr don't ask how I know.... Something worth mentioning though, when removing a steering wheel on any car, if you take that centre nut or bolt (whatever it has basically) out and the steering wheel is stuck, put the nut or bolt back on a few threads before you start pulling, that way the wheel won't smack you in the face when it breaks loose. Tesla's are probably too new for the wheel to be really stuck on there, but I know of people working older cars who've broken noses, and lost teeth trying to pull free a steering wheel, because they didn't have the nut on there to catch the wheel when it let go. You've already felt first *HAND* how hard these kinds of things can hit you when they come free. Glad you were ok though, that could have gone a lot worse! Also, you mentioned wrist watch voice commands to pop the trunk, but looks like you might be able to take that a step further... I remember someone found a way to summon their Tesla via Alexa, and there must be a watch out there somewhere with Alexa support :D
