Scenario Setting for Blasphemous Tome 6
Added 2020-09-16 09:46:27 +0000 UTCI just posted on Twitter (@paulfricker) about the scenario I'm writing for the next issue of the tome, due out in December. The scenario has been playtested a couple of times with a world war two setting (allied PCs behind enemy lines in Germany). It still needs some work, and I've been pondering changing the setting/period, and making it 1920s or modern day. Do you have a preference?
I started a new document this morning, I started writing 'How to get ahead in World War Two', but halfway through I changed that to 'How to get ahead at Miskatonic University'. I'm not sure if that would be 20s or modern yet. I tend to write and see what works best. Also, I should point out that I have a habit of writing scenarios that don't easily plug into ongoing campaigns - if you've played Dockside Dogs or Full Fathom Five you'll know what I mean.
Someone on Twitter suggested I ask the Patreon backers, so here we are!

I feel like I'm missing a reference there, but I could use that image in the scenario! - Paul

2020-09-17 21:41:11 +0000 UTCYeah I (Paul) agree, I think the key for me is to not muddy the waters between human and mythos motivations. Human beings created the holocaust, not the mythos. That said, there may still be a place for mythos stories during the war as much as at any other time I think.

2020-09-17 13:52:37 +0000 UTCThe scenario involves being dropped behind enemy lines, so probably won't suit the ARP wardens. But same era at least. Could play with relatives of the wardens?

2020-09-16 22:35:50 +0000 UTCI usually prefer the 1920's. But if there are specific events/persons/objects etc that require a different time period, any setting is fine!

2020-09-16 19:08:36 +0000 UTCIt might seem odd considering the era, but I really am not sure about horror in WW2. It feels like it's horror enough on its own. Achtung Cthulhu felt like it worked because it was so pulpy. But, I'm not *opposed* to WW2 as a setting.

2020-09-16 18:36:13 +0000 UTCWW2 but write whatever you enjoy the most! Miss my World War Cthulhu though!

2020-09-16 15:06:35 +0000 UTCI voted WW2, but if you’re not feeling it, I know I’d be happy with a new scenario from an era.
