The first five pages of a comic that inspired The Wanderer. This was a fantasy story set in the world of norse mythology. They would enter the mountain to find the dwarf halls, having to fight trolls and other mountain folk on the way. The dwarfs were the guardians of one of Odins daughters (don‘t tell Frigg). The hero is here to claim her for his prince. To claim her the hero must prove his worth to the dwarfs by killing a great worm that is sleeping in the top of the mountain, ad he must do so alone. After a long fight he manages to kill he worm by tricking into tying itself into a great great knot. covered in its spaying blood from its severed head hes feels a strange sensation as he licks it of is lips. He turns go back the way he came, but he was deceived by the dwarfs and locked out of the mountain.
Halfway down the mountain he meets a lone dwarf, he tells him of a hidden passage to the dwarven halls, but before he leads the way he shows him the dismembered bodies of his companion. Crazed with lust for revenge he is led back into the hall where slaughters any dwarf he can find. At last, drenched in blood and revenge exacted he notices that the girls and the dwarf that led him is gone. He sees an open door and follows down a the passage, through many rooms with many treasures, but he pays them no notice. At last he comes to a stable that has a open gate from out the mountain. There in the snow of the high mountains he sees animal tracks. In the far horizon two mountain goats with a passenger each, a girl and a dwarf.
This is why he hates dwarfs, they are all full of deceit. He swears to fulfill his promise and bring back the girl as a bride.
will he succeed? What perils will he meet along the way? Will he bring her back and claim her for himself? Who will ever know, as I scrapped this idea to make The Wanderer instead.…
