Hey Laowinners!
The biggest news around China at the moment is that they are going to ban VPNs entirely.
You already know that most of the internet in China is blocked, so the average person cannot access YouTube, Facebook, Google etc. However, VPNs have always been used by foreigners and foreign companies (Chinese as well if they deal with companies abroad) to access the unblocked internet.
Green VPN, a big brand in the VPN business, said that they were contacted by the government and told to stop providing their services. They claim the government is getting all major ISPs to block VPNs, making life for everyone who uses the internet (like us, for work and YouTube etc) impossible.
The government has retorted, saying that this claim is unfounded, yet we have noticed interruptions in the internet very recently.
What will happen?
