I agree with your criticism on the comedic timing in the show, however the joke in this one went over your head because you aren’t familiar with enough anime. That scene was them referencing a ton of classic moves in anime that you haven’t watched yet: naruto, yu yu hakasho, dbz, bleach, etc.

2023-12-09 03:06:34 +0000 UTCThe comedy scene is a reference to other classic shonen heroes like Goku from dragon ball or Naruto, usually they learn energy projection techniques and Yuji was disappointed not to be able to do like them because he hoped that this energy system would work the same, it speaks to older generations of anime fans I think
