(I can imagine a future indie-film in the style of "The Favorite"/Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" that's about one of these people who convinced themselves that they were made out of glass, functioning like a back-door-way of critiquing contemporary alienation between you and other people by letting those ideas play out in the heightened context of some french fancy-pants society). I actually can't think of a movie about a person in pre-19th century where the whole point of the movie is "my opulent life is a stifling prison, but there's no conceivable way for me to break out of it, because I know I wouldn't survive outside of it. So I just have to live out the rest of my life like this, growing increasingly weird, and aquire ever more exotic delusions and ticks".

(sorry for the multiple posts; the patreon message-system doesn't allow for line-breaks, so it's all a bunch of dense text).

It basically plays out like a nervous stress response, but it's a lot harder to relate to when it comes from a person of overwhelming means. But it seems like it's fundamentally the same thing playing out with contemporary stress responses. These people just didn't have anyone (that they had to listen to) tell them "What? What the hell are you talking about being made out of glass? Are you ok?" Feeling like you could "shatter if someone touched you" (and don't want others to touch you, perhaps because you deeply dislike yourself), and even feeling like you have "frogs in your stomach" just sounds like very colorful ways of imprecisely describing sensations of stress that people probably earnestly were feeling (people pre 19th century were rarely ironic or sarcastic in their writing).

Kamala Harris is the only individual in the Universe with the actual power to make that decision. The Parliamentarian issues NON-BINDING ADVICE to the presiding officer of the Senate, who is KAMALA HARRIS.

Update from AOC’s newsletter about her stand against the parliamentarian “The House passed a COVID-19 bill that raises the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour through a multi-year phase in. But the Senate vote was blocked by an unelected Senate parliamentarian. It’s absurd, and we must take action. Alexandria joined Rep. Ro Khanna and other colleagues in calling on President Biden to overrule the parliamentarian and give Americans the raise they were promised.”

I had that same delusion/hallucination as a kid where I felt everything around me was nauseatingly large and close and noisy

I recall people thought Trump was presidential when that Navy Seal died in the botched raid in Yemen
