Back in 2016 I came across the profile of Adam on a site called Model Mayhem. Adam is the guy on the right in the cover shot and he was mainly doing some fashion portfolio style shoots but I could see that he had some amazing definition and a stunning face so I asked him if he'd be ok with doing a nude shoot.
About the same time I had started talking to Charlie. Charlie is his modelling name as he wanted to keep his modelling separate from his own art photography since, especially in the years since, he's been doing some fairly erotic shoots and didn't want the art world to be judgemental.
The two guys had never met until the morning I picked them both up for the shoot but as you can see they physically complimented each other really well and the dynamic was fantastic. Adam has a slightly chaotic energy at times but in a really fun way. I had to keep asking him to stop talking and laughing to get shots. Adam wasn't really keen on going full frontal which is totally understandable and not a surprise when it's your first nude shoot.
Charlie was less concerned and as you've seen in our subsequent collaborations he's not shy at all. Charlie was seeing someone at the time of this shoot and without discussing it I got the impression that he wanted to make sure it didn't look like a couple shoot but rather a platonic male bonding situation which worked out for me.
Why did I have them starting in paper pirate hats and cardboard swords? This was not long after doing a shoot with a model "throwing" paper planes into the sky which resulted in a shot that I've always been happy with called Paper Dreams. This shoot was taking that child's play whimsical vibe further. The end result was a bit more moody and windswept than whimsical but still successful. This was a shoot done before I was releasing downloads so the full series isn't as large as some recent downloads.
Thanks for the questions. I like this idea. There were other questions that I will cover in other posts.
