Not all ideas creatives have end up being successful or even sometimes feasible. For a while I had an idea to create a bit of a sideline series in conjunction with all the other shoots I do. The plan was to take this chair that I'd bought at IKEA and painted white, on all the shoots I do and at the start and/or the end of the shoot, photograph each model in it. I'd happily let the chair become scuffed and marked from being taken on all the shoots and moved around, stood on and sat on. It would become a possible exhibition or book, over years possibly to raise money for a charity.
I still really like the idea but I just kept forgetting to take the damn thing on shoots. Or if we were doing a shoot in the national park or somewhere far away I didn't want to have to do a long walk or hike with it as well as other gear. It's a shame. Some of the different models really brought different ideas to how they interacted with the chair. I didn't want them to all just sit on it like a regular chair.
In the last two years I've done more shoots than possibly the 15 years before combined. It might have been nice to have a recurring theme like this to have. I just need to find something more practical than a chair to take on every shoot.
