The fact that it’s Joey of all people who puts two and two together first just makes it even better. If I were Ross I would have offered Emily a compromise - to never be alone with Rachel until Emily feels okay about it. Emily is 100 % justified in her feelings about Rachel (even though the fandom seems to disagree), but that way he wouldn’t have to cut her out of his life completely.
