It is supposed to be morally grey. Usually those are the choices that don't have a clear answer on right and wrong. There are going to be people on the both sides.

I thought that to especially with the name Ruby. I think Hydra didn't tell Hale it was Caps DNA and made her believe it was Red skull but The red skull never wanted others to have his power. So I don't know how they would have gotten his DNA. It makes sense that The government used Steve's DNA to create Ruby. She has a natural instinct to rebel against authority and Hydra sensed that and tried to get it out of her but it failed.

Wow that's interesting. I was always under the assumption that Hale was insemination with Red skull

I have long refused to get into the Fitz/Daisy debate because it usually boils down to "my favourite character is the best and did nothing wrong and that other character is the worst and deserves everything coming to them". It was exhausting back in 2018 and it is just as exhausting now. So I'll pass.

Remember that Fitz already believed time is fixed even before all of this mess. We have season 3 and what happened in 3x15 and 3x22 as examples of the course of time not changing. We also have what raina said to Skye as well. Then we have confirmed paradoxes that also seem to confirm the fixed timeline like deke picking out his grandmothers ring. So we have yet to have any evidence that time can change. We only have hope that it can be from Robin who says she has seen a better future in 5x8

Loving hearing all your various thoughts and theories. Season 5 is such good television. I feel like we usually know a little more about the plot than our characters do since we get to sit back and watch the whole thing as an observer.... but season 5 it's like we're just as in the dark as our characters are about what's happening so it makes for some really good theorizing. I hope you have a good week!

So random theory that is never confirmed in the show. Two years after Whitehall appearance here we know Howard creates a new supersoldier serum most likely with Zola help but my theory is that Ruby is the genetic offspring of Captain America using Steve blood stolen by hydra from the government to create her. She told von strucker she didn't know who her father was. She is stronger then the average girl and has deadly accuracy with a thrown object. I believe Whitehall was convinced she would be able to handle the experiment because she shares Steve DNA he thinks that is all you need to survive it.

Many people are shocked at how Fitz is showing less empathy then before for what happened to Daisy but that is the consequences of having fully embraced Leopold into his mind. He even accepts when Daisy calls him Hydra because he is Leopold but Fitz is also still in there too. Which makes him morally grey. This episode theme is about Hydra and Shield having a common problem but struggle to find a solution to it together because of who they represent. Fitz and Daisy are the Shield and Hydra on our team. Now let's talk about the responses to Fitz' actions. Simmons' forgiveness is the result of a bootstrap paradox. The knowledge of having gotten past this in the future created the act of forgiving Fitz in the present which created the getting past situation in the future. Crazy right? Mack's discussion with Simmons is important. His statement about Fitz still being a good guy in the framework is about intent not his actual actions. Mack is saying Leopold always was trying to protect the people closes to him from threats. The ways he did it were bad but the intent was always good to protect his people. So when Fitz does similar acts as Leopold here in the real world the intent is still good which is the important thing. It is just his actions that need to be adjusted. Which is why he is trying to help. Mack and May understand this. Now Daisy response is completely understandable. I would not expect someone who had their neck cut open to be happy about it but the issue is about Her questioning Fitz's intent. To call him Hydra and say he turned on the team is ignoring the reason he did it in the first place. So in response Fitz ignores the context of her betraying the team the many times she did over the years. Now I usually take people at their word and Daisy saying no she would not have said yes could be ignored but why would she say no if it wasn't true. Saying yes would have destroy Fitz and make him feel guilty for doing something she would have done willing, Proving his point doesnt help at all with her argument at all. So why say no at all unless it is the truth.

Just watching the intro and lmao sorry about my essay long comments Shelley, it’s way too much I know 😭 (no spoilers within though I promise!) Loving hearing all your thoughts on the Fitz debacle - you articulate so well, and I absolutely agree with your take. It’s not necessarily the act itself, it’s the *way* it was done which was so egregious. Plus, as you note, Fitz’s nonchalance and general remorseless is extremely callous and gross - he’s not exactly helping his case is he?! And although Daisy says she never would have agreed, like you I don’t believe her. I think she says that in the heat of the moment. If the world really was in danger, as we have seen a hundred times before, Daisy would do anything to help. I’m sure she would have come round. Which like I said last week, makes Fitz’s actions all the worse! Very much looking forward for you to see how the rest of the season unfolds, it only gets crazier!
