Personally I never liked that Amy from TWD kept harassing Sam and I know a lot of other people thought she was way too pushy and assumed she was a demon or something. I never saw the previous episodes sneak peak/promo but apparently they show a clip of them hooking up in Sam's hotel room but they ended up deleting it.
Not all women have to be featured as romantic interests but I appreciated her sobriety chat with Sam instead of leaning that way. At least now I understand why she was haranguing him non-stop for his life story, she truly was interested (who can blame her!) and so was he if it went that far. With all Sam was dealing with though, I am glad they didn't push that any further.
And the den of iniquity part makes me laugh still but it didn't age well now that I am older but I really loved the episode since it was Dean and Cas's first actual case and they had actually bonded. He protests missing Sam way too much and we all knew it wouldn't be long before they regrouped. Dean having fun while working a case with Cas helped grow their bond but it packed another punch and does help him realize his brother is also really his best friend too. He is just way too scared to lower his walls to Sam again but it's a nice build up for episode 4.

Meg hadn't been actually killed yet. She's just been exorcised, and left her vessels willingly. Once a demon is killed they can't come back. Unless Chuck, or The Empty - or Jack - bring them back. But if they are exorcised and sent back to hell it's harder for them to come back. But they could be exorcised and not sent to hell. Depends on the ritual/words used.
Dean's amulet didn't light up because Chuck didn't let it. He said that in a future episode when asked about it.

Lucifer claims he will never lie or trick Sam…right after he tricked him by taking Jessica’s form…twice. I don’t think he tricks him anymore this season. In S11 Lucifer tricks Sam into thinking he is getting messages/visions from God…which leads to Lucifer getting out of the cage.

I loved Kolchak/The Night Stalker when I was a kid.
I love early seasons Cas when he is still equally awkward and menacing angel

I agree with your comment that Sam and Dean are chained together by fate and destiny. This season really points that out by constantly trying to put them in a box. But the biggest evolution in their characters journey throughout the series is that they end up CHOOSING each other. And not because they have to - it's because they want to.

Just slightly off topic fun fact: I a while ago I noticed that when people talk about Bert & Ernie in english they say it in this order, while in german I think it's more common to say it the other way around (Ernie & Bert).

I'm really glad you are feeling better! And I am happy this episode got included in the rewatch, I love this episode so much. Especially having seen the full show, seeing where it all starts for Sam and Lucifer, and it really setting in that he can't outrun this, is heartbreaking, but also just starts to set up how strong Sam really is. And watching Dean and Cas really start to bond and grow close is just amazing. Fantastic acting all the way around.
