Interesting that these stories are still circulating in fandom. I never knew anyone personally who had an issue with any of the women who were on the show, so I always thought that was strange. From what I actually remember, the bloggers and even some press got wind of Dawn Ostroff wanting to change the dynamic of SPN by adding more females to the cast permanently, while Kripke and Co did not want to change the formula for their success. So they used SM to amplify the message that the fans did not like love interests for the boys so they could justify what they wanted to do. That's not to say that the actresses didn't get treated badly, because we have all seen hate directed at the cast. Just saying that there is more to the story than fans not liking the actresses. ETA: I found something on WFB that has been around for about as long as the show has with some details on that, but no citations. https://www.thewinchesterfamilybusiness.com/22494-reviews-i-missed-supernatural-3-06-red-sky-at-morning/ https://www.thewinchesterfamilybusiness.com/4920-the-dawn-ostroff-love-for-supernatural-continues/

Since I am not a shipper, I have not heard that Dean's best line is related to "Free To Be You and Me" But I do know that it was said in text to Jo Harvelle in "Abandon All Hope". I really like the aesthetics of this episode and the way it was shot. One of my favorite scenes is when they are getting out of the car to look at the tree. Anna and Sam are both wearing green while Ruby and Dean are in black. I've always wondered if that was a purposeful choice, and if so, what they were trying to convey.

I think part of Cas's transformation was because of his role is saving Dean. Cas was lied to, by the archangels and Zachariah. He was likely told that Dean was very important and had an important role to play. So Cas was likely curious about what about Dean made him so important. If an angel can be curious. I think Cas started studying Dean, wondering what it was about him. So he's already acting differently from other angels. I think he's seeing humans differently, through Dean. Dean takes on a special importance for Cas, and I think that's the start. Seeing Dean and Anna together just adds to that. Seeing that other things are possible. So I think Cas uses Dean as an anchor and a guide.

I really liked Anna. I've heard that some fans got really annoying about hating her. It was apparently typical for people to hate on any female love interest for either Sam or Dean. Got so bad that the actresses even got hate about it. I didn't know it at the time. I just knew that I was frustrated that female characters never seemed to stick around on the show. Kripke and the cast have even brought it up in interviews and at convention panels over the years. It's disgusting how horribly the actresses were treated by "fans". I firmly believe that the majority of viewers had no problem whatsoever with there being female characters on the show that just might end up being a love interest for either brother. Even though that wasn't the point of the show, it is something you'd still expect be in a show.

Ruby is referring to Sam not being able to exercise Alistair when she mentions him getting out of shape. On the blood, he was able to exercise Samhain, who is on the same level as Alistair and Lilith (all white eyes), but he got off of the blood just after that and his power level fell off because of it. Probably why Alistair was sent after them to begin with, to motivate Sam to keep drinking. The demon blood is like steroids for his psychic powers. He can do a lot on his own, but the blood enhances it, and he needs it enhanced to do stuff like exercising with his mind, or eventually even just ganking demons out right

Yeah regarding the next ep that you'll watch on your own "family remains" is the one that pretty directly references the Josef Fritzl case that was big on the news at the time the episode was made. (at least it was over here in german speaking europe and still to this day 'austrian basement apartment' (österreichische kellerwohnung) is a common phrase in reference to that) Dean even literally says it's a nod to that basically. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritzl_case#Josef_Fritzl

Since Alastair is a known torturer in hell and Ruby wants him dead (she wanted Sam to kill him fast) I feel like she hates him and would never want to work with him. He might have tortured her before.

Lol, thats legit cool, I'd love to hear more about it.

And thus began evidence for my crack theory that Dean was like Anna — he wasn't Michael's vessel, he was literally Michael who fell and forgot who he was. I wrote like a 4,000-word meta on it during season 5 😂 Obviously it ended up being resoundingly debunked, but I'm still rather fond of it as a concept lol

Ok so I have some personal theories on Anna and her falling and why it seems different. We see two different things happening in season 8. Cas losing his grace but not technically falling like the other angels. He becomes humanlike and like Anna he can hear angel radio still. Angels who fell to earth were depowered but still had grace so they were not like Anna. If she had not removed her grace she would have been like them. Cas has a human vessel so when his grace is removed he remains in that vessel. So an Angel is not just it's grace. My theory is once the grace is gone angels are more like ghosts or even demons. The grace is what separates them from human so when that is gone they become like ghosts if they don't have a vessel when grace is removed. All angelic power comes from grace so the permission stuff comes from it too. Why else would you cut it out? Anna did not have a vessel when she removed her grace. She said she was falling when she did it. When she got to earth she possessed the mom and through her got into the baby. Since they said when she was two she talked about her real dad it was Anna trying to remember things and trying to communicate but eventually she forgot as she had the physical mind of a baby
