Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett did take a lot from the religious texts, but it's worth nothing that Crowley in Good Omens isn't actually based on any character from the bible. The name is inspired by a famous occultist who went by the name of Crowley, but the character is completely original.
Similarly there is no biblical character known as Aziraphale, though according to early interviews, Aziraphale's name was inspired by the angel Raphael, who had a human form he used to go among humans on earth. The name of his human disguise was Azariah and Terry basically mashed the two names together into Aziraphael and they changed the spelling later on. I do know that apparently Castiel in SPN was very inspired by Aziraphale from the Good Omens book (and to some degree John Constantine from Vertigo's Hellblazer comics, which Neil Gaiman wrote a few issues of at one point, I believe.)
