Love the beginning part - wish the show stuck to that scary, dark side instead of the well...let's just stick with the cool opening.

Also, Burkely Duffield, who played Billy, was previously in the episode "Party On, Garth". He played Ryan, the older brother who got killed in the woods, after the Shojo pulled him up into the tree.

one of my fave episodes!! i have too many thoughts and not enough time but this makes me so excited for future episodes. 🥰

Such a brilliant episode, one of my favourites from one of my favourite seasons - and I so enjoyed your reactions. Sam saying he still thinks about Jess, Dean swigging from his flask despite his upbeat performance, and Becky saying nobody even mentions Cas are just a few moments that snagged my attention. Billy's parents also played Matt's parents in Bugs in season 1 - even though a lot of supporting cast have recurred over 15 seasons (Vancouver has a finite number of actors) I think this season they made a deliberate choice to use actors who'd been in SPN in the past and for me it helps reinforce the sense of a bottle-world that Chuck has created.

Based on these comments, I guess I have to take a 2nd look at this episode. I usually skip it, as I am not a fan but didn't realize how much others liked it. I do enjoy the next episode, but I will take another glance at this one too.

And now I'm imagining the outfit and I can't (mentally) unsee it. 😂

I'm pasting how Sounds Of Someday got to be in the episode........ The song "Sounds of Someday" used in the episode was from the album Vol. 1 by Jensen and friend Steve Carlson's band Radio Company. The album was released the day after the episode aired. Jensen spoke about how the track was included: “To be honest our editor inquired about it. He said, ‘I know you did some music over the break, do you think we could take anything and plug it in?’ I wasn’t angling for that, I wasn’t pushing that, and in fact we didn’t even tell Bob or Andrew or anybody. We just floated it in there and waited to see if anybody said, ‘I don’t really care for that song, I don’t know who that is,'” Ackles says. “And nobody said that.” In addition to “Sounds of Someday” Ackles says he had a few other music cues in his director’s cut, including a big one at the end. “Two of the three got taken out; mine was the last one standing,” he says of his new single. “That was a small victory. That was a nice vote of confidence, especially from a show that prides itself on music so much.”

This episode made me so worried for how the show would end, when Chuck talked about there being a Winchester gravestone. Would this be foreshadowing or would TFW successfully thwart his plans? The extra time gap due to COVID was torture to have to wait and find out, nice that you won’t have as long to wait.

I remember watching the opening scene and thinking Jensen just shot his action movie audition. I loved it!

Love this episode. The opening scene was beautifully directed by Jensen. And him getting Benny back just for that? Awesome. Becky gets some character development which is great. And yes - Jensen putting Sounds of Someday in the episode... genius lol. In previous episodes he's had Family Business stuff in too.

This episode is such a mindfuck, I love it soooo much, it's definitely in my top 4 episodes of this season, that opening!!! Not demon blood Sam killing dean in the first 5 minutes, gagged, Benny!!! Not them getting me in my deanbenny feels after destroying my samwena and destiel heart, I can't take any more ship pain!!! Not Benny saying see you on the other side, brother which is what he said in purgatory 😭, why do they have to make me see him die 3 times in this show, two times dean kills him and now this 😭😭, I feel personally attacked. I get that billy could be a parallel for both Sam and jack because after all Sam and jack's stories are parallel to each other and very similar but I always saw billy as a parallel to jack, especially when he says I am a monster and how he's willing to submit to dean and be killed and how he said I killed someone I love and it was an accident, jack killed Mary who he loved and called it an accident, and especially his execution scene with him on his knees and dean being the one to execute him paralleling last season's finale, especially that Sam said at the end that what Henry did for billy he would've done the same for jack, making it extra clear that billy is a jack parallel so even though jack isn't physically present in this episode he's very present in it, which makes me feel that when Billy's dad asked Sam and dean if they had a kid, it was about jack not Sam. Which makes it worse that they killed the kid! I feel like they could've helped him control his hunger and maybe follow Benny's blood bag diet? You know since Benny was in the episode I can't even say maybe they forgot he existed especially when it seemed like Billy's parents were the ones forcing him to feed and he wanted none of it, they gave up on any redemption for that kid almost as fast as dean turned on jack 🤦🏻‍♀️, they helped newly turned monster kids before like Kate in bitten and Garth and Claire, yes they could only heal Claire because she hasn't killed anyone but I don't feel like being a vamp means you have to kill people, Benny exists. Love that action sequence, so hot 🔥 Now on to the whole chuck and Becky stuff, so meta I love it, love Becky's character development and how the show kinda used her character to portray two types of fans, one is the obsessed dangerous fan who's only obsessed with the brothers especially Sam to a non healthy degree that they're willing to commit horrible acts of violence and one who is more well adjusted creative fan who writes fan fiction, create merch and actually likes all the characters and cares deeply about cas's inclusion in the story, never felt more seen in my life, it's so funny that in an episode where no one mentions cas, Becky calls out this show for keeping cas away for episodes and other characters just have to forget he exists for a bit hehehe it's so terrifying to know that Chuck's writing a horrible ending to the show where the brothers are dead and all that's left is a tombstone that says Winchester and where cas's no where to be found and no one even mentions him, but at the time that filled me with hope coz if the writers are self aware that they can't do this to the fans as Becky said, if that's considered an evil ending written by the villain then it can't be the real ending we will get, they know what we want coz Becky was saying all the things I was saying but she got Thanos snapped by the writer so I don't know what to take from that episode regarding the ending of the show, it's definitely something to think about and you definitely need to rewatch this episode after watching the finale Of course in THE meta season Jensen has his own self insert song Meat man sounds like dean's stripper name

Hasnaa

Always lovely see a character comes back just to see them die immediately Also, the fact the Jensen directed himself in that opening scenes makes his look and the sequence hotter for some reason

Can’t watch this right now but I’m glad you’re back, hope you had a good break, you deserved it. 😁
