Trump has openly bragged about sexually assaulting women. He is known to have raped two 13 year olds. You may want to pick a better hero.

That's true - a surprisingly great movie. 👍

I know you said you don't want to watch Hitler. But might I suggest Jojo rabbit if you have not seen it yet. It's not really about hilter, but it is a great movie.

Totally agree!!! I'm always talking to the screen like Sam why don't you tell Dean how you feel.

I don’t know what your problem is with President Trump. He has been one of the best presidents in Olathe modern era. Definitely better than Biden, Obama, Bush x2, and especially Clinton. I enjoy your content just not your views. But we can be mature adults by having differing views and still be friends, right?

@Kit I like much of Dean and Sam's interactions in this episode too, and I'm glad you brought that up because it reminded me of something:
It's a pet peeve of mine when people ask me, or poke at me, to talk about something difficult that I'm still processing (totally personal, I'm not saying anything about those people or making a claim re good or bad coping mechanisms), so it's taken me this long to remember something very salient about Sam's processing – especially because Sam really does play his internal cards very close to the vest (again, not a criticism).
It's more obvious how Dean sublimates because Sam asks Dean to talk and Dean won't, but Sam sublimates by projecting his feelings onto Dean and expressing his own need to talk as concern about how Dean's feeling.
And the only time that's ever expressly said is in Season 2 after John's death when Dean's displaced frustration finally blows up at Sam (on the walk down the road), and Dean calls Sam out for projecting his "crap" onto Dean.
I do wish they'd talk about that propensity of Sam's more / the show hadn't forgotten. It would've engendered greater insight into Sam's end of these interactions regarding where *he* is with processing Mary's departure (as well as other past issues), and perhaps if Sam had framed his approach as "Fine, you're okay/ you don't want to talk about your feelings right now, but *I* need to talk about mine," Dean's inner, constant caretaker would've been activated, and they would, in fact, talk.
Then again, that's a different show, and the plot moves along and conflict is built to a head by saving all that inner turmoil for later. < and scene >

I like dean and sams interactions this episode and dean killing hitler and even having a badass one liner as he did it was awesome. But other than that this is such a cringey episode

This is a weird episode. It's not terrible, but I feel like the writer dreamt Sam saying "Dude, you killed Hitler" and wrote the whole episode to lead up to it. Yeah the goofy Hitler stuff was a weird choice, the personification of evil shouldn't be a jokey guy acting like he's hopped up on cocaine.

@Michele I think the title's a reference to a song by Six of the same title; if so, since the song is about Anne Boleyn and one of the lyrics is "the one who changed history," I think it's a reference to Ellie being the one the Thule have been waiting for to change history via Hitler as Hitler had done in his own time rather than the episode being the one "you," as in the audience, have been waiting for* --
-- other than perhaps, the global you/we would have been waiting for Hitler to get his comeuppance rather than dodging justice, if you will, by committing a suicide of his choice in his bunker followed by acolytes burning his body so it wouldn't be desecrated.
*That's my theory anyway. 🤷
There's a long tradition of goofy Hitlers in media… Yeah, I've never been a fan. But I am a fan of Dean killing him. That visual's hard to argue. 😏

Right? I thought it was so cringe how they portrayed Hitler.. I don’t want any “comedic value” assigned to him.. if you are going to stick him in an episode—show him as the horrible person he was, period. The only good thing about it is at least now that Dean killed Hitler.. he shouldn’t show up again.

Haven’t watched the reaction yet. With this episode, I just wish they hadn’t made Hitler so wacky. Your face in the thumbnail is my reaction to this version of Hitler. I do like the storylines with the girl and also the Thule kid that rebels. So it’s a 50/50 episode for me, but I do generally cringe when I think of this episode.

This episode is far from my favourites. Totally agree with Hitler being way too goofy, it was so weird to me. I'm still not over the fact that he said "it's like having a tiny Goebbels in my pocket" and that wasn't even the most ridiculous part.
Dean killing Hitler was one of the iconic things I had heard about a lot before I even started the show, so every episode about the Thule etc. I was just waiting for it to be the episode it happens.
Even though I can't imagine what it would be like finding out that you're related to Hitler, "Erinnerungskultur" (culture of remembrance) and "Vergangenheitsaufarbeitung" / "Vergangenheitsbewältigung" is very strong and obviously of big importance here in germany, so every german has thought about their relationship to that time, which makes it probably less far off to imagine.

While watching it for the first time I was so confused that Sam and Dean were shocked that she wasn't there anymore when she ran away (here ca. 25:24-25:31), because it was just said that she did run. It took me a minute too long to realise Sam and Dean wouldn't have understood the guy since he said it in german ("Rückzug, sie ist auf der Flucht", here ca. 25:05). XD
