The show didn’t make up the stuff about Harriet. I looked it up and apparently she did have visions or vivid dreams and fainting spells which she interpreted as messages from God. Some of the sites said she may have suffered from narcolepsy and possibly epilepsy due to a blow to the head she suffered when she was 12 from a slave owner.
