Wouldn't it make more sense for a driver disqualified from Qualifying to start from last place regardless of subsequent penalties for other drivers?

Should F1 move away from a VSC system towards a slow zone incorporated on series like WEC? It would reduce the prevalence of “cheap” pit stops, and allow racing to continue where the track is safe. It might also be a stricter way than double waved yellows or VSC to get drivers to slow down to an appropriate level where Marshalls are working. If the FIA are worried about deceleration before the zone, maybe this could be a graduated slow down?

It seems like many teams were surprised by how well the hard performed relative to the medium tyre. How is that possible with three practice sessions?

Tyres. Piastris ability to keep his rears alive, so soon after Monza when a 1 stopper was “impossible” seems to be vital to today’s win. How did Piastri do this, when Leclercs fell off a cliff? Was it the track, was it the temperature, was it dirty air?!

And adding to this question: will their results over this weekend influence Saubers decision on their 2025 lineup? Either by putting Colapinto firmly in the mix or by making them more willing to take a punt on Bortoleto?

Do drivers like Lawson, Bearman and Colapinto prove that midfield teams should be more aggresive in their driver choices mid-season? Replacing a struggling incumbent driver with a F2 junior seems to be a formula for success at the moment, both for point scoring and for junior driver development.

Is there a chance for Bearman to replace Magnussen sooner than next year? Obviously there will be buyouts of contracts etc but would it be worth doing, given performances like this? He could make the difference between 6th and 7th in the constructors.

Sorry … 2nd question … can't we just cancel the 2026 regulations? Hasn’t this been the best, most variable, racing for quite a few years?

Piastri's short career appears to show very high levels of clinical calculation in the car. Despite his lack of expereince last year he seemed to know what he was missing, and now he's starting to use that knowledge in races (eg: why he missed out in Monza) . Do we have a new Professor on our hands?

Brilliant Grand Prix today across the board,
From the battle for the lead between Oscar and Charles and fairness between the two
To the flash point race closing crash between Sergio and Carlos and the costly dropping of significant points for both teams in constructors battle
The amazing recovery drive by lando getting back to 4th and importantly ahead of Max,
But special mentions must go to Colapinto and Bearman, both getting points in there 2nd races in such challenging conditions and track,
God I love F1

And did Oscar (and McLaren) win the race in the couple of laps undercut on Charles when Lando held up Perez? Oscar suddenly pulled the deficit to Charles from 5.8sec to 1.8 seconds between pitstops and had momentum to overtake.

Watching the Perez, Sainz crash it doesn't look like either driver turned into each other, how much will the air flow between the two possibly dragged them together like ships?

What I take away from the race was the maturity and hard but fair racing between Oscar and Charles. It bodes well for a massive fight next year between so many drivers.

Are Piastri and Leclerc objectively on current form a step above the rest of the field or was Lando’s 4th in the same league as it’s hard to tell from the race footage

on one of the rear-facing camera shots, we saw Piastri's DRS flap lifting several mm just from aero loading. Is this also something Red Bull and Ferrari are complaining about, or are they mostly focusing on the front wings?

I had to scrap my previous question! What a race!
What's your view on the crash between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz? Based on the radio reactions from Sergio and Carlos, Carlos wasn't aware and Sergio was expecting him to know that he was there. It was a major shame for both of them because the last 1 and a half laps would have been amazing because Sergio had managed to really eke some tyre life out of the hard but the Ferrari had a slight straightline advantage.
Also, what freezer was Oscar sitting in for the last 30 or so laps?! He's the new Iceman!

Could the strong showing by both Colapinto and Bearman have any influence on Kick Sauber and their choosing a second driver? Do Sauber really need to stick with Bottas? Could they be swayed into thinking "youth" has more upshots?

Does Colapinto putting a weekend like this together, which was impressive all of the way throughout, just underline Williams were right to bring him on, and maybe wrong to wait as long to do it?
Should Ferrari have tried a 2-stop with Leclerc, before Norris pitted there was a pit stop window there and Sainz/Norris showed that the pace difference of newer tyres.

Is there something with Lewis Hamilton's driving technique why he struggles relatively in low grip conditions, Baku and Sochi especially come to mind.
