九月下旬、昼過ぎの活動が急に大雨で中止になり、皆が早々に帰宅した日……
「備品の片付けだけ頼むわ！」と代表に頼まれ、桐都は一人で部室に残ることに。
桐都は掃除機を掛けている時、木製の長椅子の下に黒色のカードのような何かを発見する。
それはタトゥーシールだった。透明な薄いフィルムの表面には、「Apply to clean skin」という英語の文字、それから複雑な幾何学模様が印字されている。
「……誰の忘れ物だろう？」次の瞬間、左手の手首に火傷を負うような熱っぽい痛みが走り、桐都は「あっちィ！！」と声を上げる。タトゥーシールは鳥のように飛び立って桐都の左手の手首に巻き付いたのだった。
桐都の左手の手首に巻き付いたタトゥーシールは根性焼きのように肌に焼き付き、黒々とした模様となって浮かび上がった。桐都は焦って剥がそうとして、それが自分の皮膚と一体化していることに気づいて啞然とした。

The tattoo sticker seared into his skin like a branding iron, leaving behind a jet-black design. Panicked, Kirito tried to peel it off, but realized with shock that it had fused with his flesh.
