i think a good example is yondu getting the arrow from baby groot! in the first movie, yondu uses that badass flying arrow and it's incredible. we suddenly realize why he's so feared. he's an all powerful murderer with a magic flying arrow and shit. in the second movie, we see an incredibly similar sequence of him using that arrow to kill 80 people. but there's no longer a surprise. it's like...yeah, we know he can kill 80 people with an arrow, we saw him do it last time. i think a better move woulda been: how can he get his ship back WITHOUT the magic arrow? how can we make this character even cooler and better?

2020-03-02 19:20:20 +0000 UTCI was talking to a guy recently who works in a prison, and he was telling me that with streaming taking off, there isn't as much new cable television as there used to be. Prisoners are not allowed to have internet, so TV, which is basically their only window into the outside world, is just devolving into endless re-runs. It's driving them crazy.
