Show notes 164

Hello again. Sorry, the show notes are late this week because, frankly, there wasn't a lot to put in them apart from this lovely illustration of the Simply Norfolk shop taken from their Facebook page and a pic of Simply Coastal. They're both in Wells-next-the-Sea, if you're interested. Oh, and we have an example of an entire county welcoming careful drivers. How are they doing that, eh?

To apologise for this shabby set of extra info we've updated the Smith and Sniff encyclopaedia with a load of new entries. Let us know if we've missed anything.

No worries, I really enjoy the podcasts every Sunday night or Monday on the way to work! Keep up the great content!

Robert Seymour

I'm afraid not. Logistically they're a challenge, and they never perform very well. For example, we spent time and money on the last one, Bond Car Bingo, and it barely crept past 30,000 views. The podcast can easily do that many listens in a week. So, sadly, they're not really worth it for two self-employed people.

Speaking of “Active aero erection etiquette” An Instagram account dedicated to those who need downforce while their car is parked. https://instagram.com/downforce_while_parked?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Is there any plan to do some more 'old school' ridealong videos again?

Robert Seymour

Happily, I also write for CD. (it's the same publisher)

Brendan McAleer

I went to Uni in Ypsilanti so I was partial to Car and Driver as they were just down the road... but when big issues came out I loved comparing C&D to R&T...

Andy Pinchock

I’ve mildly wondered about this and (I think) incorrectly assumed they were one of the same. Maybe it’s a northern tick (I’m from t’south).

Wayne Brook

Only if the sign above the door is badly hand painted. Maybe the shop only sells eggs and potatoes.

Matt Tester

Is that not B&M Home Bargains? I purposefully conflate both brands to my wife's annoyance, and was tickled the other week when Richard did the same. B&M without the "home bargains" is just such a barren brand. I think we are doing them a favour.

Miles Atkinson

I write for Road & Track, and therefore cannot let Richard's comment go unchallenged: the current issue on sale is only a June/July double issue. However, many 2024 model year cars have been on sale here since about March.

Brendan McAleer

Love those location+slogan road signs. Here in Bradford we have "welcome to lidget green. Striving to be a safe community" notice "safe" not "safer" the acceptable minimum has not been met. "Welcome to lidget green. Apologies for any injuries you may incur"

Jay Russell

Hi. It’s Dave in Pedantry Corner here. Ken Bruce is now on Greatest Hits Radio. Thanks.

David Phillips

Unsurprisingly they're Simply owned by the same people (thanks, Companies House) as well as, you'll be pleased to hear, an art gallery....

Nick Davies

Really enjoyed the show. Especially the stuff about Rover. Would love to know more about their demise and the Phoenix 4 (have I got that right?!?).. if anyone on here can recommend any books I’d be very grateful!

Paul Hewlett

Not 'Basicaly Norfolk' then? There's an opening for competition.

Sean O'Neill

Ford Eco is cleverly sold to the old like a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7bGzlth_6s as it's so easy to get in and out of. The young like it as with the return of 80's fashion it's ugly and has a stupid name. If the grumpiness is obvs it's because I've owned 4 Foorwaads (Fiesta's & Focus'i?) 2 of which were an absolute hoot to drive. Rant over!

B&M will sell you some “Smoked Urban Flutes”. Obviously I immediately pictured some wide-boys in their souped (sp?) up motors coming last in a traffic light drag race.
