Show notes 163

Hello gang,

Not much to show you in the notes this week but we’ve got a few pics from the live events in London (including the syntax mangling 'Pod Cast’ sign put up by the venue and the merch stand placement that accidentally made it look like we were selling 19th century rifles), the dryer warning sign mentioned in the show, and the tarp-covered Beetle spotted by Jonny.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to one of the London live recordings. We had a great time and hope you did too. Looking forward to seeing more of you next month at the Bicester show.

I have been coming to the London concours for the last 4 years creating youtube content, and being able to join this live podcast at the end of the day was the cherry on the top for me. Question for you Johnny, have you seen the Miami Vice episode where Phil Collins rocks up in a Lamborghini Jalpa? Henryhol8538

Boob or luncheon meat... There's only one way to find out.....

Ross Hetherington

Was there for the Thursday show and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for a great time. Coincidentally, I had been listening to the ‘Puber’ episode just that lunchtime.

Toby

Absolutely the 504 for me too.

Re. Teachers first names. My first lesson at “big” school was Biology with a Mr F Fernandez. As an innocent and earnest 11 year old I wondered what his first name was. An older boy told me with confidence it was Fuck. I believed him for 2 years. As a 6th former I told Mr Fernandez this story and he nearly wet himself laughing. His actual name is Frederick.

Cool i wasnt hearing things then 🙌

Erwin Schrödinger Garages: "We haff some good news, und some bad news."

Brendan McAleer

It's not a nickname, it is his name (most often known as Wes).

Ronnie Whelan

Do Range Rovers have dual mass fly wheels?

With regards to the ongoingly fab Miami Vice chat, I have to say that my favourite guest appearance would be Coati Mundi (the slightly mad musician from Kid Creole & The Coconuts, not the raccoon-like mammal). So many great guests though.

Thursday's show was fantastic, well done, gents! Also, big shout out to everyone with the 'Puber' stories.

Im pretty sure i heard Mr Smith refer to his son as “wesson” as a nickname in an ep of the podcast!? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Attended Thursday with my better half and had a brilliant day. The podcast recording was all I had hoped, plus I got to meet and chat with Harry Metcalfe too. Didn't mention hallucinogens or 24 hour petrol stations, but what a lovely guy, exactly what I expected.

Did anybody else find that the directions on Google maps for ‘London Concours’ sent them to a McDonalds/Texaco half a mile away instead of the actual venue?

Re a woman wouldn't do it talking about blokes putting their dingaling where they have no rightful place to be. A female friend told a story of when she was a manager in a grocery shop, she was shutting up one day after everyone had left, so she thought while walking past the deli section, I wonder what one is heavier, so she did her thing and satisfied her curiosity.... The next day the head of security sidles up to her and asks, so what one is heavier? Mortified she forgot about the security cameras that run 24/7, luckily the security guy was a decent chap and deleted the evidence. I think Sarah Millican tells a story of doing the same thing, though she was using her own kitchen scales.

Enjoyed Thursday show. What was you car of the show? The 504 Riviera for me, never knew it existed (this one a “recreation”). Other highlights, carbon roof on 575 superamerica, green cars 1 Carrera GT Zagato 2 Alfa 8C . The XJR-15 always a treat. That 962 was weird , oddly squared at the corners.

Pic 3 demonstrates the badly fitting jacket. This troubled me throughout whole show. Only after the show I realised it was Benetton blazer. #VendorWear

Was my first time on Thursday. Had an absolutely great time! (except when I saw the cost of Finsbury parking.... £30!!!) Never in my life have I had a genuine discussion on the failure of MG and I realised I needed more of it in my life

MoronicMR2

Did Mr Smith ever divulge why he had the shoes under his chair?

Any chance of getting back up to the North West? I missed the Crewe show. Are there any plans on The Late Brake Show side of things, tour wise? I was keen to attend when it was originally set for 'Liverpool-ish, then had tickets when that changed to Manchester but the dreaded rona got me a few days before the event.

Thursday was excellent, most entertaining. First time attending such an event and of course some great cars to see in the afternoon. You were 'lucky' to get an air blade, most of us had to make do with directional turbos in the loos downstairs - still the ladies enjoyed the men queuing for once!

Darren Horne

Was there for Wednesday- great afternoon and evening!

David Aston

Came to the Thursday recording. Really enjoyed it, thanks gents. 👍

Simon Winter

Hoping for a Smith & Wesson (& Sniff) merch joke

David Carss

I attended the Thursday session. Very entertaining !
