Elephant Town Chapter 8 (pages 29 & 30)

Must be something really inviting about that chair, too. :)

Awww! Shared kitty! πŸ’–

Theadora

Gary, that is an incredibly creative way to name a cat! Bravo! (And a thousand poxy deaths on the jerk who SHOT a CAT!)

Theadora

I'm going with the theory that the cat's clever enough to carefully stick a paw in and scoop the tuna out. Onto the floor. (Having to clean tuna from the floor will be the consequence for Miranda not thinking that part through...) ;-)

Theadora

Miranda's a tuna salad fan, yes. :)

Danielle Corsetto

So she just happens to have cat food in her cabinet? Or is that straight up tuna? Regardless, I'm grinning and happily in love with every panel of this. Such a happy ending to such a crappy evening.

Ruth Merriam

Face it, we've all been there, no? Sometimes with the same opportunistic cat, too πŸ’•

when I had gerbils, I would take the can opener to the can and flatten out the edges so they could gnaw safely I would have to guess she hasn't had a cat before

Also yes, have gotten a cat this way. We'd agreed with the owner, a close neighbor, that we'd take him, had him visit as a trial run a week before the move, and he came back that night and never left. That's a lie he went back to the other house a bunch of times after they moved hoping his people were still there 😒 lovely cat.

Melody

When my spouse was a kid, a kitten followed her and her sisters home. Their dad, not a cat person, ignored it for a while... then announced more or less out of the blue, "We don't have a cat. But if we *did* have a cat, that cat would not have kittens." The kids interpreted this correctly, got their mom to take the kitten to the vet, got her fixed and otherwise taken care of, and they had a cat named Agatha. Agatha was a mighty huntress and lived to a ripe old age. I was privileged to meet her before she passed. A fine cat.

Hugh Eckert

I love it, and so does the kitty, clearly. The door thing gave me a moment before I accepted that if she's willing to risk it, it's clearly not much of a risk.

Amy Crook

Acceptance of the inevitable. Next will be the trip to the pet store and the full supply of cat necessities, including a wide variety of foods to determine what they like. ;)

Faith Nelson

This reminds me of a childhood stray we called JR (it was the 80s and we didn’t know who shot him either).

Gary Walker

The cat chooses YOU.

This is how you get a cat!

Everett Bradshaw

DANIELLE! πŸ₯Ί I will never get over how adorably you draw cats. -j

NJGR

Awww what a soft (literally!) moment! I can't stop grinning at that last page and Miranda's tiny, whispered "but you don't have to" - so good!

Katie McMahon

That's fabulous!

As a kid, we got a cat that way too. My father didn't realize it wasn't one of our regulars, until he counted them, and realized we had one too many. By that time, the cat was quite happy to stay.

Laura J Testa-Reyes

I so agree. I don't see anyway the cat can get the tuna out.

Laura J Testa-Reyes

Shortly after I moved to my current place, I opened my front door to see what the meowing was all about. A cat strolled in with an attitude of "_Finally._ Jeez!" and made itself at home. My immediate reaction was that this is obviously a neighbor's cat that's learned to expect hospitality from the people who used to live here, and that its owners would be here soon, looking for it. Five or ten minutes later, it was already napping on a windowsill and my reaction was like 40% "I HAVE A KITTY NOW HOORAY" (Then ten or fifteen minutes after _that,_ its owners came by (drat) and offered a wholly unnecessary apology.)

Andy Ihnatko

I've ended up with more than one cat that way. <3

At least put the fish in a bowl, those cans can have sharp edges.
