2018 - Year of the Shill

Hey! I'm revamping the Patreon to set new goals for 2018. My 2017 goals were shitty, low-energy and basic. I'm still new to this, so feedback is welcome. I didn't get much feedback or complaints in 2017...but I STILL felt I could do more.  I want to involve the Patrons in this process too!

My Patreon rewards need some retooling. So far, I've kept up with the director's blog, created a discord which is surprisingly active and dropped a handful of sneak peek content, so I haven't totally dropped the ball (hurray!). I want the patreon rewards to be more exciting for the people who contribute and give us some goals to aim for.

Things I'm considering:

Big Video Goal:  Starting work on a big retrospective on a particular game or series if a monthly goal is met. Just a target to work towards. Thinking DEADLY PREMONITION? NieR? Suggestions are welcome. This would be a large target to aim for. If this is met, everything would go on hold for this target. It would be my full focus and I would update you guys every step of the way. (Like I'm doing with the Shadows Retrospective!) It would be in the same vein as NeverDead, Shadows or Dead Franchises.

Patron selected Cool Stream:

I was thinking making Saturday cool streams a regular event, so if a certain Patron wanted me to stream a game for a bit (so long as I own or have access to the game) we could schedule it. I would have to place a limit on this reward for obvious reasons. This would replace the google hangout goal reward that didn't ever happen! Discord accidentally ended up fulfilling that reward, so voice hangouts there are more feasible and if you ever want to talk there, I'm here for you boo. In the stream, I would dedicate it to that person, read a custom message (as long as it's cool or funny) and shill whatever you wanted me to.

Survival Horror Review Pathway:

I want to feature more survival horror content on the channel. The issue is, I like to talk (a lot) about every element about these games and tend to dive deeper than necessary into the history, because it's my favorite genre! So this would be a smaller sized line of reviews, but still have just as much passion behind them. I would keep the video length of these no longer than 10 minutes, which would make the production time shorter, focused and manageable.

Each year, I would pick a handful (4?) of survival horror games & build a pathway of survival horror games to cover on the channel. If the goal is met, I would begin production on a review immediately after, which would release a month after the goal (to give me some leeway to beat the game, cap the footage, write and edit) after the goal is met.

For example,

$50.00 (overall) - Haunting Ground Review

$70.00 (overall) - Silent Hill Homecoming Review

etc...

This is just an idea I'm kicking around. If it sounds good or you have suggestions for some that should be on the list, leave them.

Your Money & Where it will go in 2018:

I only had one goal for 2017 and I purchased new audio equipment! Yay! Your 2018 support would help me pay for some lapel mics and Adobe Creative Cloud services so I can continue to improve the look of the channel, editing and other sorts of plugins. It will also help me pay for regular maintenance on all the equipment involved. All support is extremely appreciated and all of it goes back into improving the channel.

YEAR OF THE SHILL:

I've set a personal goal of promoting the channel as much as I can, without FEAR or SHAME attached to the action. I'm proud of the work that goes into HM and there's really no reason not to show off what I've made, you know? We make videos for people to watch them, that's what it's all about. All the big dogs shill, so I must learn their ways to grow the channel. That means I will shill and encourage subs to share videos (if they want to). HM is entering year 4, all of the growth came accidentally through people stumbling upon videos, with no promo from me outside of social media (twitter), now I've gotta try. Hope you understand why.

That's all Hikikomori family! Let me know what you think and I'll see you when the Shadows finale drops.
